Chantix for chewing tobacco

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix for chewing tobacco

chantix

Avatar m tn You could consider using over the counter aids like nicorette chewing gum or you could get a prescription for Chantix. I'm not as familiar with it with chewing tobacco but my assumption is that it works the same since it address the nicotine addiction. You could always have a discussion with your dentist or primary care physician.
Avatar m tn Ok so I have a chronic problem of chewing tobacco. I chew a pack of tobacco every 15 to 30 mins. If I dont for even an hour, I start experiencing withdrawals. I have on my own tried stopping this really bad habit but all attempts have gone in vain. I have been chewing tobacco from the past 5 years. I also had a drug abuse problem and I was very successful at stopping that. Tobacco should be easier but for some reason, it seems more difficult! Any advice I can get here?
19880027 tn?1485894768 For the about 15 years I've been chewing tobacco and smoking it for almost 26 years. I'm 35 and it's been a very long run that I thoroughly enjoyed. Now when it's time to hang it up there's no support for those of us that chew tobacco. There's stop smoking just about everywhere you look and I gave up smoking November of 2016. Today is day 8 tobacco free and all I can think about is eating but I'm on a monitored diet.
Avatar n tn He has been on Nicorette 2 mg gum for 20 years after chewing tobacco for 15 years or so. He has never tapered off--fortunately, not gone to 4 mg either. The easiest way to tell you how much he chews is that in a week, he goes through 1 1/2 to 2 boxes. Each box contains 110 pcs. He can't understand why I get so pissed off about the amount of money or doesn't want to. He has managed to stop drinking (thankfully!!) for 7 months now and says that I shouldn't bug him about this.
Avatar m tn I have been using snuff/chewing tobacco for about 25 years. Within this time period I was able to quit for about 3 years. It took all I had...literally. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. One bad night at work and I relapse. I am currently going through a lot of stress but I know that I need to quit again. I am very reluctant about using any pharmaceuticals...... does anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar n tn You are welcome and please check with Chantix about your night sweats though I really think it is a side effect. You might want to try cutting back to one pill a day and if you feel yourself craving a smoke more often, then perhaps go back to taking that second one. Remember how important quitting is and don't give up your 3 weeks....you have cleared most of the hurdles and it would be a darned shame to have to start again : ) Keep reminding yourself why you quit and stay strong!!
Avatar f tn Actually here in india, we have chewing tobacco which we spit after chewing it. Though some doctor advised that tobacco had nothing to do with pancreatitics...however some days that it can lead to pancreatic cancer. I understand that intake of chewing tobacco is unsafe but i am unable to quit it. I have tried lots of time but to no avail. Can chewing tobacco really aggravate my pancreas problem..at the moment i do see any symptoms but fears worse looking at some doctors comments....
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 36 year old. I have been occassional smoker since long (average of 1 cigeratte per day). Since last three months I have been occassionally eating "gutkha". Gutkha is similar to chewing Tobacco. During my previous dentist visit the dentist observed white color tissue on certain parts of marginal gingiva at the right and left side of my mouth. Dentist enquired about my habits and I lied that I don't have any habits.
4440520 tn?1366778314 I use chewing tobacco and i have a "hairy tongue", is there anything I can to get ride of it?

Avatar f tn Good morning and congrats on your anniversary as a non-smoker! We have had some recent talk about the gum and maybe you can glean some info from it. Try following this thread: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Smoking-Addiction/Effects-of-Long-Term-Nicorette-Use/show/730769?post_id=post_4517392 I quit with Chantix so I am not personally knowledgeable, but I do know some "gum" users who have been chewing for many years and are having a difficult time trying to stop.
Avatar m tn Hi I stopped chewing tobacco 4 days ago. I started chewing in November and chewed about 3-4 times a day up until 4 days ago when I quit. I have read that the physical withdrawal symptoms peak on day three. Does anyone know what the common withdrawal symptoms are? I am constipated, get headaches, feel dizzy off and on throughout the day, and the weirdest one is my nose is congested and clariton d barely clears it up. Is it normal to have withdrawal effects that include nasal congestion?
950277 tn?1247274551 My mother in law went on the chantix program. She was a smoker of over 50 years. She has been on Chantix for 3months. She actually lights her smoke but does not smoke it. She does this twice daily. She really has quit. It is amazing!
Avatar m tn O.K. why are there not any "stop dipping or chewing classes"? Or are there any?

Avatar m tn First off call your doctor. Chewing tobacco is just as bad as smoking, if not worse. It could be your lungs clearing out, but it could be the juice from the chew getting into your lungs. So call your doctor just to be safe.
Avatar m tn [11] The amount of nicotine absorbed by the body from smoking depends on many factors, including the type of tobacco, whether the smoke is inhaled, and whether a filter is used. For chewing tobacco, dipping tobacco, snus and snuff, which are held in the mouth between the lip and gum, or taken in the nose, the amount released into the body tends to be much greater than smoked tobacco. Nicotine is metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 enzymes (mostly CYP2A6, and also by CYP2B6).
Avatar n tn Recently my fiance has made some major changes in his life. He's been chewing tobacco and smoking marajuana for years and just cold turkey quit. This past week he has been complaining that his tongue feels swollen and he has lots of little white painful bumps on his tongue which i believe is thrust.
Avatar f tn In leucoplakia there is excessive growth of cells in the mouth with white patches. Smoking and tobacco chewing increase risk of developing leucoplakia.Fungal infections like candidiasis, syphilis can lead to white patches in the mouth. Stay away from alcohol. Get it seen by a doctor. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Most likely it is a case of Leukoplakia, where chewing tobacco is usually the cause. And if it is Leukoplakia indeed, then there's up to 20% risk of turning cancerous over time. It is highly recommended to abstain from tobacco use and alcohol consumption. There's also the possibilty of oral thrush, however, my money is on the former suspicion.
Avatar m tn hi everyone. So im finally deciding to quit chewing tobacco. I tried several months ago but couldnt do it. anyone have any ideas on how to stop? I guess I do it because I love how it makes me feel and when I dont have a dip in I have to have something to chew on. But I know its bad for me and its giving me sores so its time to quit lol.
Avatar m tn I am 28 and have used chewing tobacco for probably 5 years. Last night, I noticed this bump on my inner lip. I'm not going to be able to see a doctor until next week. Obviously, I'm concerned about the obvious, cancer. Can anyone give their thoughts as to whether my concerns are valid? P.S. I tossed out my tin. I'm done with this stuff whether this bump is serious or not.
Avatar n tn The Gardasil shot is for people who do not have cervical dysplasia or had exposure to HPV yet. That's why they want young girls to get it. If you have cervical dysplasia diagnosed with a PAP test, you need to have it treated to prevent or at least reduce your chances of getting cervical cancer. Tobacco will cause you nothing but pain and heartache. Why put off the inevitable withdrawal? I've known many women who use it to control appetite, but it is NOT WORTH IT!
1671473 tn?1450592437 M IN THE SAME BOAT EXCEPT FOR THE HYPO THING.. BUT I BURN A PACK A DAY EASY.. AND MY COUGHING IS GETTING BAD... JUST HERE TO SAY I'M WITH YA AND BEST OF LUCK..
Avatar f tn I can feel them when I run my tongue or fingers over them. What are these? Should I be worried. I have used chewing tobacco for only about the past six months.
