Chantix and panic attacks

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix and panic attacks

chantix

Avatar n tn After he started taking it he began having panic attacks. He had never had one before the medication but began having them during. Unfortunately that is now something he has to live with for the of his life.
Avatar m tn We have done some research and she feels that it might be a combination of panic attacks and depression. She also thinks that it may be mini-strokes but none of the doctors will listen to her and actually do any testing to see what is going on with her body. Can any of the doctors on this forum please tell us what your thoughts would be and how we can get her into a specialist in the Boston area. She does not want to continue living life taking medication every day (not even ativan).
Avatar f tn I woke up one morning thats when it all started. I went into full blown panic attacks, anxiety attacks, and now to the point where it was driving me nuts. I was so not myself. I was having thoughts of wanting to hurt myself. I went to the hospital to get evaluated and it came to find out that chantix wasnt for me. I got dignoised )sp?) with depression/anxiety. so you might wanna reconsider taking the drug. I am not saying that what would happen to you if you were to take it.
Avatar f tn t until he went off Chantix that the anxiety and panic attacks began. We did not know what it was at that time and he has been getting blood work and seeing doctors for months now - finally the light went on when we started researching the side effects of chantix. He has not driven in over 2 weeks because he had one panic attack coming home from school that scared him badly. I don't know what to do for him except be supportive.
Avatar n tn t have anxiety or panic attacks, I feel like something toxic is effecting my mind, like the psychological side effects of Chantix or a similar drug but it won't ever wear off. Now of course at first, I had no idea about any of these terms I'm throwing out, but this is where I am 4 years later. I went on to develop internal cystitis and lower IBD.
984138 tn?1359813073 While on the med he has mild side effects but after many blood tests, a positive ANA and anxiety/panic attacks - he is slowly getting healthy again. We did not do our homework and the result was a very sick young man. He has to be on a high dosage of vit D and lexapro for atleast a year, and with the help of a therapist to rewire the other nerves in his brain that chantix affected. The urge to smoke was gone but so was his energy, will and personality. NOT WORTH IT.
444932 tn?1273980797 When I read on the Chantix quit line that if you failed the first time, to just keep taking your Chantix and set another quit date. So I did, and I will try, and maybe it will work, but I like what you did and can only hope that that is the way it will finally work for me too. That just little by little, over time, those urges WILL begin to fade and I can see that I'm smoking less and less and will just one day, like you say, "that's it!
Avatar m tn I too quit smoking and then started having panic attacks. I too resumed my nicotine habit after a run with wellbutrin. Wellbutrin works okay but one of the main side effects IS anxiety.
Avatar f tn s good that you understand that smoking DOES lead to anxiety and panic attacks. I suffered also and now that I have quit (9 mos.) I can honestly say that I have not had ANY panic attacks! My mind as well as my being are healing daily and I am so thrilled that I was able to stay quit!
242912 tn?1660619837 Would that be an edible mushroom or the poisenous kind? Hmm, hmm? : ) Well hey, so happy to hear you started on the Chantix! Your idea or not, I'm happy for you anyway. Maybe you've scrolled through here already, but several people have started Chantix, but not stopped smoking right away. Just did what you're doing.....smoked less and less. So you choose a new quit date......make it a month away if that seems less scary. When I quit last July, OMG, the panic attacks!!
1096641 tn?1271707225 I used Chantix and didn't have any complications. I have never heard of headaches related to Chantix and I just googled "chantix and headaches" which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours.
Avatar f tn I hope by now you have stopped taking the chantix. My son took it for 3 months and although he did quit smoking, the side effects have nearly put us over the emotional edge. He had mild side effects while on it, the dreams, slight stomach ache, manageable headaches, but... when he went off it, the whirl wind began. He began with terrible hives, then numbness, dizzy, foggy, moody and the latest is he has been diagnosed with panic and anxiety.
10011789 tn?1409704061 Anyone have issues with panic attacks? I had them probably 3 or 4 times in my life and never with my first pregnancy. Now with this one (having twins) I've already had 2 and I'm only 12 weeks. Both my parents take anxiety meds. I never have had to and don't want to but it's kind of scary. I'm never like stressed or thinking about anything at the time. It just suddenly hits me and I can't breath and I feel overwhelmed and trapped.
1979360 tn?1328143865 ve finally been told by myself that i have horrible panic attacks. i hate them, and i do want and need help and a support system.

Avatar f tn I had panic attacks about 20 years ago when I worked with all women who smoked some of them chained smoked and I put it down to secondary smoke my thyroid was perfect at the time but also my job was so stressful our boss used to come in every morning and say there were too many women working and as such that was unproductive hours (worked for a construction company where 99% were men) and that one of us would have to go and he would stand there looking at us as if he was trying to decide which o
461368 tn?1206516757 But our brain and mind knows there is a problem and eventually sends up emergency flares -the panic attacks- and fog horn warnings (the anxiety). Typically, the treatment involves some medication to help the patient be more relaxed and functional. But medication is NOT the cure. The "cure," (defined by ME as the end of significant symptoms and no expectation that they will return) comes about through talk therapy with a psychiatrist or similarly qualified mental health professional.
Avatar n tn Could you 'feel' your heartbeat get faster? Also, what is your approximate age?
1000480 tn?1266592599 My panic attacks went away completely when I stpooed drinking, stopped smoking and went back to church and was healed from all my issues and worries and freak out s. then...I stopped excersising and started drinking again and i cant even look at a line and I panic beyond belief. I have missed flights, trips, and it really *****. So, this past month Im back at self care and healthy diets and it has helped tremendously! I remind myself that I have nothing to FEAR!! Fear must go. I am safe.
Avatar n tn and desided to go to the psychitrist... I was diagnosed with panic attacks... and I was prescriped with Zoloft... 25mg to begin with... and an other pill called "akamon" to help me sleep at night.... he said that its a therapy of 6 months and then I will be just fine but since I was very worried of taking these meds i kept visiting websites and they are all full with people that take them for years and no one that said... "ok i took them for 4-5 months and then I was ok"....
607502 tn?1288247540 I get panic attacks, sometimes with no warning and no obvious trigger - these are at night when I'm about to go to sleep I suddenly can't breathe and my heart is racing. Then I get the ones brought on by outside stressors, ie, situations I can't cope with.
Avatar f tn So I got a question like last year I smoke some pot and it was laced with meth and heroin and I was freaking out I was afraid I was going to die my mom almost took me to the er. so now every time I smoke pot or I try to drink or I try to take any type of pills I start freaking out and having really bad panic attacks to where my heart rate goes up and I'm afraid I'm going to die. do you think if I quit smoking and drinking and doing everything for a couple of years it will die down?
Avatar f tn , so I went to a doctor who told me I was having panic attacks and prescribed me Xanax 0.5 mg 4 times daily, and it is actually working. I was wondering if anyone thought that this was because of the XTC and if anyone else has had this happen. Thanks for listening.
Avatar f tn They can be used to control panic attacks......for what reason were they prescribed to you? If for panic attacks, and they're not controlling them, call your doctor and let him/her know. Take care.
933087 tn?1291174260 Even though the medication helped me greatly in school, the panic attacks became more frequent and more aggressive. Every day after school i would get home and start to feel my fingers tingle, my face go numb, get really dizzy, then have problems breathing. Id have to lay down and just try to fall asleep to get rid of all of it. At the time I thought it was panic attacks that I was having but was not yet diagnosed.
Avatar f tn I suffer with from panic attacks, I wake up very early in the morning feeling dread and what will this day hold for me. I am not an optimistic but a pessimist. If I dare have a thought that today may be good, I shoot myself down by saying "Do not think everything is going to be alright". I am a defeatest. I and my husband are unemployed and cannot find a job. So every day is a financial and peronsal challenge to us both.
Avatar n tn I too have Crohns diease and have panic attacks. I was seeing a GI doctor and told him of the attacks, he said that the stress and trying to cope with this diease was the likely cause. He sent me to a mind and body dr. that he consulted with before I visited and told him my situation. They worked together and I was put on a low does of Klonipin and the attacks completely stopped. Shortly after my Crohn's went into remission.
