Celexa side effects for men

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa side effects for men

celexa

Avatar m tn I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
Avatar f tn So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Has anybody gotten a stuffy head and "funny feeling" eyes as a side effect from SSRI's. I have had these side effects before but they went away after a month or so. I'm on Celexa and this stuffy feeling(like you are coming down with a cold) seems to be sticking with me. The med is working well except for this uncomfortable feeling in and around my eyes.
Avatar f tn Did you taper off the vibryd or quit abruptly? You can't just switch from one medication to another even in the same class and avoid withdrawal -- these meds are not easy to stop taking and it must be done carefully. Unless you completely stop taking a medication before starting another it's impossible to tell if your symptoms are a sign you're suffering withdrawal and quit too quickly or are side effects of the new medication.
Avatar m tn If you're only 22 it's unlikely to be the most common cause of this in men, which is an enlarged prostate. I have this all the time thanks to a wonderful (joke) surgeon and it's no fun, but I'm 64.
619354 tn?1222576638 I am super freaked out about having to take any kind of medicine....the side effects worry me to death. I would like to know which one would be a better choice for me. Zoloft or Celexa? I do currently take Alprazolam at a small and low dosage, and I also will take Tylonol on occasion for headaches. I am looking for the safest way to go about having to take any kind of medication and would like any suggestions on one that may be know to have the least side effects. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Four years ago I was diagnose with Major depression and Anxiety and my doctor prescribed me Celexa, starting with 5 mg per day for 4 months, 10 mg for 6 months, 15 mg for another 4 months and 20mg for 4 months, this bring about a total of 18 months on this medication. My problem was that during the course of time on medication. My intercourse with my girlfriend would last for about 30 mins and still being errected for more.
Avatar n tn m on 10 mg right now and am finally through the side effects (still no appetite though), just waiting for the meds to kick in a little more.
Avatar m tn I was suffering from severe insomnia last month. I tried sleeping pills (Rhovane/Immovane, Benzodiazapine) and they were baaaddddd. Extremely addictive with anxiety and agitation during the day. I stopped them cold turkey and suffered a week or more of rebound insomnia and withdrawal. With that behind me my GP asked me if I wanted to try Celexa; he wasn't sure if I was showing signs of depression but thought it might help with the anxiety that was feeding my insomnia.
Avatar f tn thanks for you response. I didn't really feel anything but then again I'm not sure. I did fill it again and started yesterday. I guess I always thought I was taking too much meds. I have 2 dif meds for diabetes and I also take ambien at night to sleep. I have a hard time sleeping through. I just thought if I eliminated one med it would be that much less. I think I was wrong because I was in tears yesterday and at the store while I was in line picking up the celexa.
1302779 tn?1287405029 t notice much difference in effect -- neither worked for me very well -- but the side effects were a bit different. If anything, contrary to what I had heard, the Celexa has had fewer side effects. So they don't feel the same, but my guess is, if Lex works for you, Celexa probably will as well but it's not a guarantee, they do feel different.
Avatar m tn re suffering withdrawal from the wellbutrin, or side effects from Celexa. Quitting an antidepressant abruptly is not advised -- although wellbutrin isn't one of the worst for withdrawal, they can all be difficult to stop taking and usually are tapered off. This is especially true when switching to a med in a completely class.
Avatar f tn I know how low these are but I have never been able to tolerate any meds at higher doses without massive side effects. I did do pretty well on Wellbutrin xl and could do 300mg but I can't afford it anymore and the generic doesn't work.
646598 tn?1223708455 I can say though that none of the medications, including the antidepressants helped me, but i had bad side effects to any antdepressants. He gave me the table for pain, not depression, but the dose I needed to take was so high it was driving me crazy with side effects and did not help my pain at all.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40 mg of Celexa for a number of years. The Dr. has told me to reduce it to 20 mg. I was wondering if there would be any side effects that I should know about while adjusting to the smaller dose?
Avatar m tn Do these side effects sound normal? The tremors didn't start till taking celexa but I keep having those thoughts that it could be some serious disease and its really freaking me out. I've never felt tremors before and I truly feel scared. I have a tendency of obsessing over these thoughts which only makes matters worse.
Avatar n tn My mother's doctor prescribed this med.. My mother has never taken meds before her 75th birthday. I don't want her taking this med with the side effects or with her being sleepy all day. My father has alcoholic dementia and my mother needs to be ther for him. Is there an alternative med to help her with her depression?
Avatar n tn Absolutely! I found buspar a nightmare of a drug to go on (for me the worst of any drug I've trialled). Medications can and do interact with others and can increase or decrease the effects of one or other medication. You'll know for yourself whether you feel your condition(s) are being managed. Is it possible the side-effects from the buspar are mimicking symptoms the adderral is being used to managed? I'm not aware of any medication that could increase your libido.
Avatar n tn I have been taking celexa (20 mg) for two weeks for anxiety with Klonopin just when I need it. I don't like the way the celexa is making me feel. Do you think I will have any side effects only taking it for two weeks if I stop?
Avatar m tn Try to stay in close contact with your doctor to stay on top of all side effects. I was on Celexa for a while and had to stop taking it because of sexual side effects and really bad constipation. Good luck!
671285 tn?1292660161 Many of the symptoms you experienced are potential side effects of Celexa (aka Citalopram), namely agitation, anxiety, fatigue, drowsiness, sweating, and panic. There is no question that you did the right thing in immediately notifying your doctor of these side effects and I'm glad you did. While it is unfortunate that your experience with Celexa was a negative one, it is important not to generalize your experience to all antidepressants.
1008061 tn?1250742476 I have been on Celexa for over a year now, I just wondering what other's side effects are? I take 50mg daily and to me I still kinda feel the anxiety.
Avatar n tn I started on Effexor 5 wks ago and was having trouble urinating and have ejaculation pain. Stopped the Efxxor after 3wks and went to Celexa. Have been on for 2wks and still have the problem. Has anyone had to strain to actually get the urine started were now i have straining pain in my groin. Plus delayed ejaculation?
Avatar m tn This side effect is possible but not common...in some cases it is not reversible..better to ask your doctor for other medications that you can feel safe with and not have to worry about this...ask him re Paxil, or Zolfot or Celexa,...there are many.
Avatar f tn ve recently been prescribed Celexa (I plan to do about 20 mg for 9 months to a year). I know that Celexa, like any SSRI, causes sexual side effects like low libido, erectile dysfunction, and anorgasmia. My question is: Will these side effects wear off after I stop the Celexa? Can anyone who has experience with Celexa or other SSRIs tell me if their sexual side effects wore off after the treatment was over?
