Celexa side effects first week

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa side effects first week

celexa

Avatar f tn So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
Avatar f tn Has anybody gotten a stuffy head and "funny feeling" eyes as a side effect from SSRI's. I have had these side effects before but they went away after a month or so. I'm on Celexa and this stuffy feeling(like you are coming down with a cold) seems to be sticking with me. The med is working well except for this uncomfortable feeling in and around my eyes.
Avatar f tn Did you taper off the vibryd or quit abruptly? You can't just switch from one medication to another even in the same class and avoid withdrawal -- these meds are not easy to stop taking and it must be done carefully. Unless you completely stop taking a medication before starting another it's impossible to tell if your symptoms are a sign you're suffering withdrawal and quit too quickly or are side effects of the new medication.
Avatar f tn I really doubt that 5mgs of Celexa would be causing those side-effects. That's a tiny dose. I would see your doctor. Maybe something else is going on. I do believe the Celexa takes away some of my energy and the motivation to get things done around the house, but I take 60 mgs. I originally switched to the Celexa because my doc thought it would be less stimulating than past SSRI's I had tried. He was right and I have not had the sleep problems with it.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if anyone has any of the sexual side effects? Prozac was the first med I was given about 2 years ago and I felt dead to the world and had terrible sexual side effects. I had to stop them. My doc said I may get them since Celexa is in the same category of meds. If I do then we can try something else.
Avatar m tn My last Celexa dose was last Wednesday and this is Wednesday, a week later. The side effects of the drug continue as before. I am not having the electric zaps which are apparently a withdrawal symptom. Instead, I have just continued to feel the same side effects as when I was taking the drug. Not as bad but still pretty uncomfortable. Ironically, my insomnia is gone and I'm am sleeping well now. Has anyone out there experienced this with such a short course of Celexa (Citalapram)?
Avatar n tn Just keep in contact with your dr. the first week or so if you are concerned about any side-effects that pop up. They should be relatively mild, and they will go away. Hope this helps..
Avatar f tn Hi , I live in Calif. a Medical pot state . I am now on Day#22 No Norco or other pills . Thru my home Taper & detox i went from 100mg a day Norco to 20mg a day and jumped I used pot at night to help me relax & sleep , also eased the tummy pains & body discomfort . No it did not take it all away but it did help get me thru the hardest times . Not sure what the people who post help & advise will think of useing pot to ease tapering & detox ? Please don't yell at me .
Avatar f tn I've been on Zoloft for almost two months (started off @ 50mg, then went to 100mg) for bad anxiety mixed in with a little depression and Xanax as needed. The Zoloft has helped my anxiety a lot but I have had bad side effects from it - almost constant weird/cloudy feeling in my head and headaches that are almost constant and so painful like no other headache I've ever had.
Avatar m tn re suffering withdrawal from the wellbutrin, or side effects from Celexa. Quitting an antidepressant abruptly is not advised -- although wellbutrin isn't one of the worst for withdrawal, they can all be difficult to stop taking and usually are tapered off. This is especially true when switching to a med in a completely class.
Avatar f tn In consultation with your doctor you should think of weaning yourself of the medication over a three week period. The first week go down to the lowest dose possible every day. the second week, that dose every second day; the third week, that dose every third day...then stop.
1756970 tn?1314376733 hi ok i was put on concerta 36mg about 2 weeks ago and weened off of zoloft 200 mg and put on at the same time 10 now 20 mg of celexa. the first week i was feeling great!! was finally sleeping well, woke up energized and moods were stable. than this week i went down hill. i felt like i was on crack all day!! my brain was foggy, yet overstimulated. couldnt interpret what people were wanting from me. i heard them but just panic mode set in.
Avatar f tn I have read horror stories about Celexa on this board, but I loved every minute of it, so to speak, after the first month when it built up in my system. You have to take other's comments with some doubts though, because some people don't follow the prescription dosages or else they don't work hard enough in conjunction with the med to get relief. Sometimes the drug just won't work for them, because everyone's brain is different.
Avatar m tn has told me to reduce it to 20 mg. I was wondering if there would be any side effects that I should know about while adjusting to the smaller dose?
Avatar f tn Hi Rebecca - I was on Celexa for about 8 months and I agree it is a good medicine. I, too, was worried about the sexual side effects of it. My doctor put me on 30 mg for about 7 days for it to build up in my system in hopes the side effects wouldn't be as bad. He then upped me to 60 mg. Definitely the sexual side effects can be frustrating especially since the med makes you feel so much better. With me the Celexa just killed my libido and had no desire for anything.
553096 tn?1267348927 ah yea...those possible side effects sound an awful lot like the side effects (sx) of the original treatment. I'm in agreement with getterdone.
Avatar m tn In other words, these types of meds cause some annoying side effects during the first week or two of using them, then those side effects disappear, and the benefits of the med appear. So talk to your doctor about other medication options (there are many). Hope it all works out.
Avatar f tn But I will tell you that Lexapro and Celexa are far more known for the sweating problem than Zoloft is -- it is one of the more common side effects of both Celexa and even more with Lexapro, and I got it from both of them.
1211508 tn?1343079605 s not like getting a headache and taking something that will work right away you will have side effects that can be troublesome let your doctor know about everything i take 100mg.
Avatar n tn Instead of giving me beta blocker to take before performances, which is what I expected (and should have gotten), she diagnosed me as having generalized anxiety disorder and put me on low-dose Celexa (10 mg/day). I had horrible side effects (mostly gastrointestinal and sleep disturbances) but I kept with it as she indicated, for 6 months.
794091 tn?1264986339 As regarding the antipsychotics perhaps after you stabilize your psychiatrist will allow you to titrate off one. Geodon has more side effects than Seroquel (which is more effective as a mood stabilizer) so see how you are doing in a while and speak to your psychiatrist more then.
Avatar m tn m afraid of the side effects that may come with it. Will this medication give me the same side effects as the Celexa did?
Avatar m tn Today was the first day of week 5 of celexa for me and I'm still having skin heat up (and feels cool to everyone else), and increased nervousness. Its a lot better than it was but I have read that is takes up to 3 months to work out the kinks. Has anyone ever had any of these side effects last this long???
