Avatar f tn Hi everyone :) My Dad recently had a stroke, during which time they found occlusion in one of his legs, causing foot pain. He's currently on Oxycodone. But I'm looking for a better pain management option(s) for him. From what I've been able to ascertain, Vicodin, Celebrex, Darvo- or Percocet have seemed viable options. Can anyone share their opinions on this??? Thanks so much!
527890 tn?1263783127 My last rheumatologist treating was treating me for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylarthritis with Lyrica, Celebrex, Sulfasalazine for 3 years, and the pain has totally escalated out of control as Dallas heats up. I saw a new rheumatologist today who discussed Fibromyalgia with me today for first time by any doctor. She stated that she has never dealt with an HIV+ person, POSSIBLY misdiagnosed with RA/AS, and she is going to have to research.
Avatar f tn During one of the ER visits the dr said I have costochondritis and prescribed celebrex and Percocet for the pain.
Avatar f tn Good Morning, Thank you for your comments. I take the percocet for pain associated with my back and hip as I have some degenerative issues. Like you, I'm not a DR. and I really can't remember exactly what all they say is wrong with me. I guess I'm just falling apart at the good old age of 58. The percocet does help with the pain. I can't take NSAID, I was on Celebrex for a little while and starting having problems breathing, so I got off of it.

Avatar n tn I am taking percocet and celebrex. The percocet dulls the pain somewhat, but not entirely. Has anyone else here had this tenderness as a symptom of sciatica? It has me very worried something else is going on.
Avatar f tn I am taking 200mg of Celebrex daily for knee pain and I have Hep C. My hep doc sees no problem with it. Sometimes I take two, if I am going to be skiing or riding my bike hard; I'm just hoping that's OK! My two liver biopsys (5 years apart) have been normal.
Avatar n tn We discussed Celebrex in detail and the head of hepatobilliary department at Shands, who writes a lot of the research you see, said he has absolutely no problem with me taking Celebrex long term. I am a hepper with cirrhosis, I have a healthy heart and well controlled hypertension. I think as long as your mom doesn't have heart issues and she gets regular physian followups that she will benefit from Celebrex. I know I do.
Avatar m tn I had had a problem with anti flams for a while and i new i couldnt take celebrex as i had terrible cramps in my stomach. My doctor gave me the meloxicam by mistake, he done it again the other day but luckily i spotted it and he apologised and changed them to etoricoxib. Please be careful when you are given pain relievers and anti flams. Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..

Avatar m tn Also, much more pronounced pain with presence of gas in my bowel. Use stool softener, celebrex and percocet (3/day) and 1 valium at bedtime. For whatever reason, my body produces an incredible amount of gas...much more in the last year or so without any change in dietary habits. Large farts 3 or 4 times/night. When gas builds up, nuero pain (not gas pain) wakes me up. Any movement in bed wakes me up. Mornings are very hard....
1155483 tn?1262432647 Potent NSAIDs can have serious side effects with long term use. Some ppl never seem to have an issue with them while others do. My sister has been on Celebrex for years and seem to have no problem tolerating it. Darvon is not an effective pain reliever for chronic pain. There have been studies that confirm the fact that even Ibuprofen is more effective. So in my opinion I would not consider Darvon. Tramadol has been effective for some chronic pain patients.
Avatar n tn I have a fear of addiction, so I was taking percocet for two weeks and then tylenol 4 for two weeks. I went away and left my percocet, but had four tylelnol 4. I had gone through withdrawal with tylenol 4. I used to not take it for a week to give my body a rest. The withdrawals were only stomach cramps and diarrhea and imodium took care of that. Now I have more withdrawals (I have only been taking the percocet for three months) the worse is the anxiety and goose bump feeling.
Avatar f tn m taking/have tried taking ibuprophen, tylenol, celebrex, and lodine for the NSAIDs, and percocet, vicodin and ultram besides -- none of it is working. i'm at the point where i'm just taking something to sleep so i dont have to deal with it until i can see the doc. thanks!
Avatar f tn I was on Celebrex for 15 months (I was on treatment for 18). The problem with Celebrex is that long term use can be hard on the heart.
Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar f tn Once I take two percocet, I am able to get out of bed and walk and can get through the day while taking percocet throughout the day because the pain continues when I am active but the stiffness isn't as bad when I am active. Walking is becoming hard to do because of the pain and when my breathing gets heavy, my upper back stings between my shoulder blades. My great great grand mother, and my mom all have had or have peripheral neuropathy but it is due to diabeties. I am not diabetic.
Avatar f tn I know many that take the Diamox with no problems, same with Celebrex...but, u had issues with the Diamox, just as I know those that had issues with Celebrex. All u can do is try it and see how it goes for u...and do let us know : ) I pray it works well for u.
Avatar f tn I got home on Monday and I'm feeling really good. I have no cravings for my percocets and I love it. I called my doctors office yesterday to talk to the nurse about something and she asked me if I wanted to come in and pick up my percocet script and I told her no. I'm going to try out Celebrex for pain hopefully that will help. I'm going to do follow up care with the psychiatrist that I was seeing there at the detox center.
Avatar n tn I do take Celebrex for the rib pain these last month. I were diagnosed yesterday with Cotsochondritis but do not know if it can be something else. I did started treatment 2 years ago for the stomach - Nexium 4mg (five family members died of colocancer) I also have this strange pain in my hips down my legs - it starts and then after a while it feels better but then it feels tender over the vains and the muscles. Can this be my lower back.
Avatar f tn When I check in I ALWAYS have to list the Pain Meds that I take and I ALWAYS list my Celebrex that I get from my PCP along with my Fentanyl and Percocet. Well that's what they went by and they inadvertently wrote me a script for my Celebrex and because I looked BEFORE I left I was able to hand it back to them and let them know that they aren't the ones that give me that script that is comes from my PCP. They thanked me and tore it up on the spot.
Avatar m tn Rare cases of severe hepatic reactions, including jaundice and fatal fulminant hepatitis, liver necrosis and hepatic failure (some with fatal outcome) have been reported with NSAIDs, including CELEBREX (see ADVERSE REACTIONS – post-marketing experience). In controlled clinical trials of CELEBREX, the incidence of borderline elevations (greater than or equal to 1.
