Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex vs aspirin

celebrex

Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar m tn Celebrex is a medication similar to aspirin, ibuprophen, and many others in a class called NSAID for Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug. Weight gain is not one of the side effects of NSAIDs. Perhaps since you are having less pain, you are eating better or getting more exercise? Muscle tissue weighs more than fat. Or perhaps your disability is making you less active and causing the weight gain.
Avatar m tn (interesting article, I wonder if it would impact in any way on HCC? I also have read that limited aspirin intake acn reduce blood pressure, which may be helpful. I've also read that the microbleeding associated with aspirin may over time reduce iron stores in the liver. I've seen articles which claim it to be mildly antiviral as well. It may be worth asking your doctor what they think(!!!!! that last part especially true for advanced staging!!!!!! No self medicating!).
Avatar f tn Anyone knows if hbver can take baby aspirin? My obgyn prescribed them for me, 1 a day. Any contraindications? Thanks.
531416 tn?1213145679 Hi Kimberly66, Check my post i just putted about Celebrex vs neuropathy cause as i understand you have use Celebrex in the past and its exactly my case and now i'm coping with neuropathy. I'm sure Celebrex is the cause of it. Good luck.

My rheumatologist has mentioned my hep-c in connection with my arthrits and I'm seeking more info. Co incidentally he took me off aspirin put me on celebrex pending more results from more tests .Have you explored connection of arthritis and hep-c post treatment?
Avatar n tn One of my main complaints with the fibro is the debilitating fatigue. I try to plan doing something on weekend, and by the time the weekend comes, it's all I can do to do the laundry and groc shopping. Then sit the rest of the day doing nothing. I am on Lyrica for nerve pain, just quit Celebrex. I don't know what the lorect is. But I have many other pills I take. For muscle spasms, rapid heart rate, low dose aspirin, Tramadol for pain, etc.
370181 tn?1595629445 So, your rheumo wants you to try Celebrex. I would caution you against taking Celebrex. My mom who is also suffering from chronic pain due to a back injury she sustained from a bad fall eight years ago, was also prescribed Celebrex by a surgeon who is an expert in pain management. Well, my mom was on the Celebrex for only two days. She felt very ill on the Celebrex and went off the Celebrex by herself as it was making her symptoms worse.
Avatar f tn thank you I am using Celebrex now but have to be careful. I cant use aspirin. I got anemic the doc took me off of it. I got back on it but just use it when my jaw flairs up or my hands get to hurting really bad. nearly everything you take has aspirin in it. well I just live from day to day. thank you for writing.
1441140 tn?1284085241 My guess is that the benefits of statins (my PCP has recommended 10 mg of the generic Zocor) outweigh the side effects, but that is my question, along with whether or not taking a daily aspirin or baby aspirin could be as helpful (though I realize this therapy has potential side effects as well). Thank you for any help you could provide about this!
Avatar f tn ) The headache starts just before my menstral cycle and lasts 5 - 7 days. I live on aspirin, neurofen, maxalt - these just relieve the symptoms and within 3 - 4 hrs the pain returns. I am blinded by the pain as it moves from left temple to right temple and then by the 3rd day, almost feels as though my eye balls want to explode, causing them to water constantly. I feel nauseous in my stomach and often feel as though there is ice water running over the top of my head or deep into my forehead.
203342 tn?1328737207 A few years ago I began having GI problems which resulted in surgery and a diagnosis of Crohns. My GI doctor told me to not take aspirin, Motrin, etc., as it could irritate the colon. Today I went to the doctor for heel pain and was told I have Planter Fascilitis and needed an anti-inflamatory drug to help. He was going to give me Motrin but I told him my GI doctor told me not to take it. So he prescribed Celebrex.
Avatar n tn The most widely studied and prescribed antiplatelet agent for the prevention of stroke and other serious vascular events among high vascular risk patients is aspirin. I take aspirin daily prior to CHF.. Plavix and aspirin for preventing stroke and other serious vascular events in high vascular risk patients. Up to one year after a stent implant, plavix and aspirin are the recommended protocol as statistics have shown a high risk for clot.
Avatar n tn Obviously, you need to consult with your physician. To compare the outcomes of patients treated with various anti-clotting protocols (aspirin vs. coumadin) go the the United States database "Pubmed".
2202729 tn?1377551205 I think most hepatologists recommend it for liver patients, up to 2000 mg per day. NSAIDs (including Advil, Motrin, aspirin, pretty much every OTC pain-killer other than Tylenol) are contraindicated if you have liver disease.
195469 tn?1388322888 They used to make it in 200mg caps but stopped, so now it comes in 50mg, just take 4 a day. I work for doctors and they are split on the use of Celebrex, personally I stick with the ketoprofen. If the inflammation can be alleviated the pain usually is too so you dont need the pain meds. Of course all of this is based on my own experience so take from it what you will. I hope you get some answers and some relief soon. See you on the MS forum!
Avatar f tn i have been on lyrica for 1 year 200mg 3 times per day i also take amitriptyline 25 mg 2 at night i take 200 mg of celebrex a day and solpadeine 3-4 times per day i was recently perscribed durogesic patches every 3 dats but am still i a lot of pain recent spinal block failed.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar f tn Umm....Tylenol is acetaminophen. Aspirin is ASA, or acetylsalicylic acid. Two completely different compounds. Tylenol, or acetaminophen has been deemed safe during pregnancy, ibuprofen, or Advil has NOT. As for aspirin, that's correct, it's a blood thinner.
