Celebrex or mobic

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex or mobic

celebrex

Avatar f tn I was on Mobic for a year or so and never had any issues besides stomach pain (which any NSAID's can cause) I get stomach pain with any NSAID's. Mobic wasn't really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex.
Avatar n tn t start having heartburn until I had taken Mobic for 4 or 5 months, in February of this year I went to the emergency room with chest pain and my blood pressure was 165/113, my blood pressure is usually 110/72. So I was a little concerned, they did lots of tests, x-ray, EKG, and came to the conclusion that it is was heartburn due to the mobic. The doctor prescribed nexium, which I have been taking ever since, and it seems to help with the chest pain.
Avatar m tn Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
Avatar f tn Thank you for sharing your update with us! I'm sorry to hear you are hurting and that your doctor cut your meds. I just don't understand that. Especially when he doesn't even know if the Celebrex will be approved or not! Does it work for you? My insurence wouldn't approve it for me either....they ended up putting me on relefen (I'm not supposed to take NSAIDS mind you) and that stuff made me sick as a dog. Going to the doctor is so hard....
Avatar m tn This time he prescribed Celebrex. I learned that afternoon that there is no generic for Celebrex and it costs over $200. So, I went back to see him and he prescribed Mobic and tested me for Hepatitis. I'm still not clear on his reason for that last part, but hey, I'm no doctor. I've been on Mobic for a month now and I don't feel any better. I don't know where else to go if this isn't an orthopedic issue.

Avatar m tn At the age of 33, one day I was fine, healthy etc. Went to bed and the next morning woke up with excruciating pain deep inside my r/knee area. Couldn't get out of bed or walk. That was the start of my (disease)? Went to an orthopedist. Got cortisone injection, gave me anti-inflammatories, sent me home told me to rest. Pain never went away, but it subsided a bit. Pain flared up again after about a month, ortho referred me to rheumatologist. More anit-inflammatories for a while.
1844403 tn?1319049472 My OBGYN and RE told me that any type of anti inflamatory such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and prescription ones like Celebrex and Mobic can keep you from ovulating. If doing IVF, it can also affect you. During the retrieval they may be able to get many follicles out but may be unable to get eggs out of them. Talk to your RE if you need pain medication.
518798 tn?1295212279 i actually had to be on mobic for a while. its generic name is meloxicam..its a nonsteriodal anti inflammitory. i am no longer taking it, but its good and works well.
Avatar m tn i was told not to take any over the counter meds that may contain asprin or some other stuff so i don't take any otc meds at all , may interfere with what im on prescription wise any way my dr quit her practice last week for good , now to find another to get thru New Years i had to go to local Emergency room for refill prescriptions of oxycodone and fentanyl pain patch , maybe you think that was easy to convince a doctor i never saw that i needed to take the oxycodone first and fore most mis
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar f tn Up until February, I had been on opiates for a few years. Norco along with Celebrex and Robaxin (muscle relaxer). I had more side effects from all the NSAID's I was on before my insurance would finally approve Celebrex, than I did with the Norco. The only side effect I had with Norco was nausea with vomiting only when it got really bad. But that was only if I took it on an empty stomach. But the pain relief outweighed the nausea because I took an anti histamine to counter act it.
Avatar f tn I have BC/BS. Its fed but should not be that different. They were filling 180 10/500's. I don't think that's something the insurance can dispute. An amount. It's either yes or no. They denied me celebrex as well. But I really think that the doc has the only say if it's approved how much. Maybe I'm wrong.
Avatar n tn Every symptom disappeared and its been 40 days now and Im doing just great.... I feel healthy...!!! I dont know if it was the CELEBREX or the hydrodistention that helped but I was back at normal.. I just dont wanna accept the fact that I have IC and Im living with the fear the symptoms will appear again... What I wanted to ask is this: is it possible that my bladder just got inflammated due to the overdistention (my holding my urine in) and that this is not IC?
Avatar n tn I have been getting these pulsing or throbbing feeling mostly every where on my body for about 1 month now. I have not been checked for it yet but, it somewhat worries me. I get pain in my joint at times and had a sedrate drawn on me. my sedrate came back only a little elevated. My provider told me I have a little of Osteo arthritis and has prescribed me Mobic for the pain.
Avatar m tn Yes you can take Mobic with a narcotic pain med. Mobic is a NSAID, and has the same risks as other NSAIDS. In high doses it can cause some kidney issues, the vicodin has tylenol in it and can cause some liver issues in high doses. But they are safe to take together. Typically what you want to watch for is multiple NSAIDS, or Multiple meds with tylenol.
Avatar m tn My doctor wrote me a script for Mobic to help with some nerve pain. Im wondering if anyone knows if its similar to tramadol at all, Im hoping not, but anyone who has any helpful info please let me know. I cant start back on opiates again for the pain and Ive heard too many bad stories about tramadol to even consider it as an alternative. Also if anyone knows of anything that helps nerve pain, Im open for any suggestions. Hope everyone is well, thanks.
Avatar f tn Celebrex is just as likely to contribute to an "event" as other non steroidals, but with one caveat. It acts on primarily one certain type of enzyme, thus leading my rheumo declaring it "less" dangerous. Never the less my cardio didnt want me taking it over 45 days without a serious intermission. Worring can cause funny feelings as your brain dwells on that feeling.Take a deep breath, call your Dr or his nurse and ask.....
Avatar f tn ve been having lots of pain in my heel and have been taking celebrex, mobic, etc. (not at the same time) with no results. I've been walking with normal shoes and have been trying to walk normally, but the pain is almost unbearable. My questions are: Would it be ok to wear my boot cast because it does help the pain. I just don't want this to hurt my chances of a full recovery. Also, is there anything I can do to help with the pain?
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar m tn t spoken to my hep doc yet (he ordered the pelvic xrays), or been referred up (over) the ladder to a different specialist. But I do have 100 or so celebrex laying around and they appear to aleaviate my pain much better than the ibuprophen (?) I've been taking.. Thanks for any opinions you (or anyone) care to offer.
Avatar f tn Today a Doctor gave me a script for Mobic, for wrist pain that I have had for the past month from repative work,my Urate levels are at 52 just over limit.Im on Asprin and fluid tablets which can raise these levels.
