Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
It is completely curable and treatment involves conservative local care with careful use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) as needed. Application of warm compresses may also help.If there is nor may relief even with medications, then steroid injections be needed.
Please get yourself evaluated from an orthopedician for this.
The COX-2 inhibitors like Celebrex are usually used because they produce much less gastric irritation than NSAIDs like ibuprofen. If that was the cause stopping the medication and the meds that you took should have cleared it up fairly quickly. A gastric emptying study would be in order. Unfortunately, there is no definitive test for alkaline reflux gastritis. A few years ago, we hoped that a HIDA scan might be useful but variations in liver anatomy from patient to patient made this useless.

I work for physiatrists, one of which recently diagnosed me with bicipital tendinitis. The only problem is, everything he has recommended does nothing - I have tried ibuprofen 400mg three times daily, ice four times daily, and am now on Celebrex 200mg twice daily (does just increased from one daily yesterday). The only thing that temporarily takes the edge off is ice.
Has anyone heard of PRP treatment (platelet rich plasma)? I am trying to find out success rates of this treatment.
Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
I am allergic to all drugs in the morphiene family and need to be able to take something stronger than aspirin or tylenol. Tramadol and Ultram have very little if any effect and I have been told my the family doctor that Ibuprofen, Aleve and Celebrex are now unhealthy for my eye condition. Any suggestions as to what can be taken for pain that won't interfere with the current eye treatments?
( so far I have been on celebrex for 4 days but am not getting any relief but I read sometimes it takes a week or two to start working. I stayed off all pills today except the celebrex. I pretty much slept all day and the pain I feel in my legs everyday is sooooo bad it hurts to even move them. I am so scared about having to take more opiates and about the rebound pain which is why I really want to quit.
Advil is ibuprofen which is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDS) and these have been linked to increased fluid load which can cause an increase in blood pressure. I would imagine the fluid load increase could also cause additional edema in your ankles, but that's just my opinion, I'm not a Doctor. I have a prescription for Celebrex for my knees due to OA and I am hesitant to take it for that reason.
Anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen can help, prescription meds such as Celebrex or Relafen can be used as well. If you are under the care of a physician, discuss your treatment options.

Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Can you recommend a product, OTC or prescription, that contains little to no sodium? I have read the sodium in pain relievers help to quicken relief of pain......but I find it easier to tolerate some pain than live with extreme dizziness....thank you....
Up until February, I had been on opiates for a few years. Norco along with Celebrex and Robaxin (muscle relaxer). I had more side effects from all the NSAID's I was on before my insurance would finally approve Celebrex, than I did with the Norco. The only side effect I had with Norco was nausea with vomiting only when it got really bad. But that was only if I took it on an empty stomach. But the pain relief outweighed the nausea because I took an anti histamine to counter act it.
Every symptom disappeared and its been 40 days now and Im doing just great.... I feel healthy...!!! I dont know if it was the CELEBREX or the hydrodistention that helped but I was back at normal..
I just dont wanna accept the fact that I have IC and Im living with the fear the symptoms will appear again... What I wanted to ask is this: is it possible that my bladder just got inflammated due to the overdistention (my holding my urine in) and that this is not IC?
Before diving into another invasive procedure, I visited a pain management doctor. ONE of the many things we did was try Celebrex. Now I was very skeptical as it had done nothing prior to surgery. But once my spondy was fixed I though - let's try it again.
I have to happily report that this NSAID really did work. So much so I was able to lay off the Vicodin and/or Norco as a supplement to "stay ahead of the pain".
Hello to all of you who are suffering or have suffered from pericarditis. I am a twenty one year old female and have had pericarditis for three years, undergone a pericardial window and a complete pericardiectomy, Three years ago I began having chest and right shoulder pain. After several months of this, I could no longer lay flat when sleeping without significant pain. My doctor, at the time, diagnosed with me with anxiety and shoulder inflammation and prescribed Lexapro and Celebrex.
Celebrex is just as likely to contribute to an "event" as other non steroidals, but with one caveat.It acts on primarily one certain type of enzyme, thus leading my rheumo declaring it "less" dangerous. Never the less my cardio didnt want me taking it over 45 days without a serious intermission. Worring can cause funny feelings as your brain dwells on that feeling.Take a deep breath, call your Dr or his nurse and ask.....
