celebrex

Avatar n tn My two daughters take Celebrex as a person would take Advil here or there and do fine with it .. they both cannot take ibuprofen. My son cannot take it since birth as he gets bad reflux from in .. They make custom made ibuprofen suppositories if you really need a NSAID but cannot do it by mouth and they are wonderful .. you need a compounding pharmacy but my co pay was only $8.00!
Avatar f tn Major back injuries to soft tissue in 1987 with permanent nerve damage in upper and lower back. I am allergic to all drugs in the morphiene family and need to be able to take something stronger than aspirin or tylenol. Tramadol and Ultram have very little if any effect and I have been told my the family doctor that Ibuprofen, Aleve and Celebrex are now unhealthy for my eye condition. Any suggestions as to what can be taken for pain that won't interfere with the current eye treatments?
Avatar m tn Is there another medication that I can take that is equally as good as Celebrex. It's very good but so expensive! A: Celebrex (there is no generic but the active ingredient is celecoxib) is an expensive NSAID (non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory-drug), and there are no alternatives exactly like it, but you may be able to try something similar. Most NSAIDS follow two pathways in the body, COX-1 inhibition and COX-2 inhibition. The second one is desirable, as it decreases the inflammation.
Avatar f tn m going through the exact same thing with hip bursitis -- told me to take 10-14 days off and take ibuprofen and it would be better. It's not. Not a bit. They just lie to us, man, or else they'd never get us out of the office.
Avatar n tn I do take Celebrex for the rib pain these last month. I were diagnosed yesterday with Cotsochondritis but do not know if it can be something else. I did started treatment 2 years ago for the stomach - Nexium 4mg (five family members died of colocancer) I also have this strange pain in my hips down my legs - it starts and then after a while it feels better but then it feels tender over the vains and the muscles. Can this be my lower back.
Avatar m tn I do hope that you didn't take my comments/suggestions as that I was a physician or medical professional of any type. I was simply relaying my ideas and personal experience. Any and all changes to medication/treatments should definitely be discussed with and approved by your physician/s. I apologize if I gave the impression that I was anything more than a fellow chronic pain sufferer.
Avatar m tn I am not a doctor or pharmacist but I know that at one point I was taking ultracet and celebrex. I would take the celebrax each morning and then the ultracet as needed. Call your doctor or pharmacist to be sure as everyone is different and they know more about the drugs and interactions.
418155 tn?1205409893 he took it for a week and applied ice and it healed up.....I like it because for me I can take as needed instead of everyday...most have to build up in your system and can not be used on a prn basis...
Avatar m tn I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication? Would it be safer to go back to Meloxicam or try something like Celebrex? Thanks very much!
Avatar f tn Regular doc says I need to take celebrex for arthritis pain. I know it is a NSAID so I am scared of it. He thinks it is not a problem with hep c, but he is not a Hep C doc. What is the scoop on it? Any one taking it with Hep C?
2202729 tn?1377551205 I agree with Pooh, take Tylenol. I think most hepatologists recommend it for liver patients, up to 2000 mg per day. NSAIDs (including Advil, Motrin, aspirin, pretty much every OTC pain-killer other than Tylenol) are contraindicated if you have liver disease.
Avatar f tn I have really bad migraines. I used to take Excedrin before I found out I was pregnant as it was practically the only medicine that works since I couldn't take ibuprofen because of my blood problems I had when I was a younger. However when I went to my obgyn and asked what else I could take stronger than Tylenol, she said nothing. Not while pregnant. Just Tylenol.
Avatar f tn and as someone else said, make sure to take it with food as it can burn your stomach...I would say from experience as I have had RA for 25 years now, there are better drugs available now for RA and upfront.....not way down the road.... I am on Humaria injections which work very well for me, not that you are that advanced in your disease, but I am....and it is working for me, I was also on Enbrel injections for 5 years before this drug now.
Avatar dr m tn IF you have facet arthritis and pain opiod-narcotics will certainly help, but this is where I found the NSAID Celebrex to be of value. Some days I take no narcotic, and others I do need to take one or two small doses. An MRI can look closely at the secondary boney changes of osteoarthritis of the facet joints. AND you may very well have BOTH conditions - in fact I believe most back patients have multiple causes of pain.
Avatar n tn I take both together. So in my case yes. I don't know your story and I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you if you can take them together.
Avatar f tn Hiya Girls, does anyone know what sort of painkillers i can take, i keep getting bad headache and i would normally take ibuprofen for it, but i have heard thats not good for the baby
Avatar f tn i had flu was on co-codamol and some throat spray x
374225 tn?1269899262 I just saw that you posted!!!! You have been SOOOOO missed Mama Sherry! You and your family are always in my prayers. How are you? How's your pain? Are you still in Arizona? Lots of changes here. Michael and I are no longer together ... long and complicated. My dad took a couple of falls and just came home from rehab last Friday. He's much more frail than he was, and it really hurts to see him like this. He uses a walker now but I can see he's very nervous with himself.
Avatar f tn but these side effect have developed not just an effect but a whole other health issue witth added meds such as zantac, blood work every 6weeks to 2 months and i forgot another side effect was anemia fromt he celebrex...........
Avatar f tn Oh and the tolerance thing is a big problem too, cause the more you take the more you need for it to work. I was the same way only seeming to get relief from narcotics but once you get them out of your system you are better able to evaluate your pain. I've noticed that I can take 800 mg of ibuprofen now and it will help some.
Avatar f tn It is my opinion that each of us have to research the medications we take and make our own decisions based on that research and our comfort levels. Personally I would not take Celebrex long term but I take acetaminophen (tylenol) long term which can be just as risky. So it's an individual decision. Does it significantly help your pain? If it does that would certainly be a large part of my decision process. I hope my input has been a bit helpful for you.
Avatar m tn I had had a problem with anti flams for a while and i new i couldnt take celebrex as i had terrible cramps in my stomach. My doctor gave me the meloxicam by mistake, he done it again the other day but luckily i spotted it and he apologised and changed them to etoricoxib. Please be careful when you are given pain relievers and anti flams. Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..
453731 tn?1225199508 You should not take acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) unless your doctor has told you to. NSAIDs include celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. These medicines may affect blood clotting and could cause serious bleeding in your stomach or intestines. Avoid sudden changes in your diet. Vitamin K decreases the effects of Coumadin.
Avatar f tn I always used ibuprofen prior to getting pregnant because Tylenol wasn't strong enough. However 2 rounds of 1000mg seems to get the job done. Haven't taken me than that in a day.
