Celebrex not working

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex not working

celebrex

Avatar m tn I injured my shoulder several months ago and have tried cortazone injections and physical therapy. I have been taking celebrex and ice , moist heat but the pain has not stopped.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your help-you are right-this is not pleasant! I thought maybe I could just switch them but Celebrex doesn't seem to be doing anything for me right now. I think maybe it just needs some time to build up in my system. I left a msg for my doctor requesting advice on tapering off Nucynta (I have enough left to do so). I just moved to a different state so in between doctors and trying to switch meds so I can start working while dealing with chronic pain-not a fun time.
Avatar f tn Hi so I have real bad body pain and health issues that cause it. I have found myself buying pain pills Percocet 5/325 and Vic 10s and take 1 sometimes 2 a day. And have been for a little over a month now. However my Dr is now giving me celebrex and it isn't working and I am scared that I am building up a tolerance to pills. Should I go a week and be miserable and then try the celebrex? My body hurts so bad I can't even move some days and I have 5 kids with the youngest being 2 yrs old.
Avatar m tn Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..I really do believe that the celbrex caused you to have the bowel obstructions as with me it caused me to lose the lining of my stomach and also a huge flare up of ulcerative colitis which as soon as my own doctor the visited me i was rushed in and he told me i should never even of been given them..Anyway just be careful what you take.
Avatar n tn Fosamax is safe for liver patients. Celebrex in the short term (for a couple of weeks) should not be harmful. However, it is not something he wants me on for any length of time.
Avatar f tn It is my opinion that each of us have to research the medications we take and make our own decisions based on that research and our comfort levels. Personally I would not take Celebrex long term but I take acetaminophen (tylenol) long term which can be just as risky. So it's an individual decision. Does it significantly help your pain? If it does that would certainly be a large part of my decision process. I hope my input has been a bit helpful for you.
1207048 tn?1282174304 I started on Celebrex on Sunday. I take it every afternoon at the same time. I have not noticed any difference. I had read that it should only take "a few days" for it to start working. I'm not sure how long I should give it? Admittedly, I was not happy to be starting it in the first place, so my gut reaction is to only give it a week, and stop it if it doesn't seem to be working. The thing that seems to be working the most is my nighttime dose of gabapentin.
Avatar m tn I was told today by my awesome insurance company that they will not cover Celebrex. I have been on meloxicam for many years. I'm on day 25 norco free and working with my pain management doctor on non narcotic relief. I thought this maybe a good choice but the insurance company disagreed. Any opinions on arthritis relief options. I have liver issues and I'm tested every 6 months. I also have stenosis, 2 bulging discs and one that has been detached.
Avatar f tn I am a bit foggy from the meds (non narcotic and small amounts prescribed by an addictional specialist but so I would be able to detox from home and still function) I am ok....Not great but OK...I stopped some of the things she prescribed me b/c they made me so foggy and groggy. She told me not to work but I did work every day this weeek anyway and it was good because it kept me busy and helped the time go by faster! My body is a bit achy but I took some celebrex and hope it will help.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar f tn Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
1415174 tn?1453243103 If the tylenol and celebrex is working, that is great news. You may want to go to the doctor and find out what is causing this pain through a MRI. The MRI will show if there is any discs that are bludging or slipped. Good luck. I'm happy the tylenol and celebrex are enough to control your pain.
Avatar f tn true, I was on celebrex for a short time and it did not work for me. I thought it was making even more edgy and did not help with my muscle & joint pain. I think just like everything else, it is different for different people. Good luck & welcome to the forum.
Avatar f tn You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar f tn Not sure I ever met someone that was fun who was in pain....but listen to him, sounds like he cares....
Avatar f tn Rhythm abnormalities (early de-polarisation/ re-polarisation) may not be related to celebrex use. The heart complications of celebrex are due to an increased incidence of clot formation and consequent heart attacks/ strokes. A few experimental cases of arrhythmias have been shown in animals, but these have not been significantly proved in humans.
Avatar f tn My great aunt took Celebrex too- for her rheumatoid arthritis, but you may want to look into potential side very serious side effects and weigh that into considering it.
Avatar m tn It may take a few weeks for the inflammatory process to subside. Medrol and celebrex are not absolutely necessary but highly advised, since these would take care of the inflammation and the discomfort. Yes, most causes of ulnar neuritis are due to pressure/ irritation at the elbow and hence adequate rest and proper positioning is important for healing. You may try wearing a crepe bandage to keep the elbow from bending.
1667344 tn?1303311751 Can I take two celebrex pills? They are 200mg. I still have some aches and it has been all ready about 4 hours ago I took 200mg.
Avatar n tn I never had high blood sugar but recently after a 10 day course of celebrex for an inflamed shoulder muscle my fasting blood sugar shot up to 137. I read that celebrex has this side effect. Is it reversible?
Avatar n tn t remember what it was but it didnt seem to help, so he prescribed diclofenac and it caused me to retain water so he prescribed Celebrex, which I felt was working, but when I went for my regular check up he had blood work done and low iron were the results. So now he is requesting the upper GI evaluation. I am currently just taking extra-strength Tylenol. I took Tylenol arthritis, but it didn't seem to help any more than just regular extra-strength Tylenol.
Avatar f tn Celebrex is a NSAID... for some it may be ok and others not..largely depends on the condition of your liver and other health factors that the prescribing doctor should be aware of ... here is a past discussion on pain meds. Will http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Article-on-pain-meds/show/1552015?
Avatar f tn I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that. These have worked for years, but I was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and told that Celebrex is not recommended with the oral chemo medication they want to put me on (Ibruntinib) because of severe bleeding issues. So obviously I am going to have to find an alternative pain med for my osteoarthritis. Tylenol doesn't do a thing. Vicodin doesn't really do much either (not for the knee pain).
Avatar m tn I am not a doctor or pharmacist but I know that at one point I was taking ultracet and celebrex. I would take the celebrax each morning and then the ultracet as needed. Call your doctor or pharmacist to be sure as everyone is different and they know more about the drugs and interactions.
