Celebrex narcotic

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex narcotic

celebrex

Avatar m tn I started taking Celebrex two months ago and have gained 18 lbs since. I am wondering if anyone has gained weight on Celebrex? I have a sprained lumbar, lumbago syndrome with back spasms. I can't take narcotic pain meds. Any alternative to Celebrex? Naproxen does nothing for my pain.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Hope everyone had a Merry Chrismas? I would like to post a question...I am going to my MD today due to my severe knee and feet pain...I want to discus taking either Cymbalta or Lyrica for the horrible pain I've been in which was ONE of the reasons I took pain meds and became and addict from... Now Im waling much more frequently and maintaining my Yoga but the pain has increased causing me to loose ALLOT of sleep which makes me very irritable....
418155 tn?1205409893 Obviously I do not want to trade one bad habit for another but if it is non-narcotic and can help with my severe pain I would like more info... Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi there--these drugs are nothing like each other. How long have you been on the Nucynta--if anything over about 3 weeks, you are at the very least somewhat habituated to it, and it will tell you so when you stop it! The Celebrex is totally non-narcotic---but hey, you're a nurse, you know that stuff already. How much Nucynta have you got left? If you've got enough you can do a taper. Like dog, I can't tell you how to taper--we are forbidden on the board to do that.
Avatar m tn It's been 11 days and I seem to be going through the norm. I am in a lot of back and joint pain. I am going to see my pain management doctor today. I take meloxicam for arthritis and I think I'm going to ask for a change. I have been told that Celebrex and Indomethacin is a good non narcotic combination. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
1255658 tn?1269359477 what "non narcotic" meds are you planning on taking?
Avatar f tn Well it is day4 off of Vicodine....I am a bit foggy from the meds (non narcotic and small amounts prescribed by an addictional specialist but so I would be able to detox from home and still function) I am ok....Not great but OK...I stopped some of the things she prescribed me b/c they made me so foggy and groggy. She told me not to work but I did work every day this weeek anyway and it was good because it kept me busy and helped the time go by faster!
Avatar f tn My great aunt took Celebrex too- for her rheumatoid arthritis, but you may want to look into potential side very serious side effects and weigh that into considering it.
Avatar f tn I've suffered chronic back pain for 10+ years. I'm off all opiates now after being on them for more than 5+ years. I'm now taking lots of vitamins and minerals to promote and maintain my general well-being. My only prescription meds now are Amitriptyline (100 mgs @ bed) and Parafon Forte (4x per day). I just got a Spinal Cord Stimulator, which helps my sciatic pain, but my lower back pain is still pretty bad.
Avatar f tn Hi so I have real bad body pain and health issues that cause it. I have found myself buying pain pills Percocet 5/325 and Vic 10s and take 1 sometimes 2 a day. And have been for a little over a month now. However my Dr is now giving me celebrex and it isn't working and I am scared that I am building up a tolerance to pills. Should I go a week and be miserable and then try the celebrex? My body hurts so bad I can't even move some days and I have 5 kids with the youngest being 2 yrs old.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I did notice that when I took either Tylenol or Celebrex on the bad day it started to break the cycle. Any suggestions or has anyone seen this?
Avatar f tn I have done physical therapy, yoga, muscle relaxers, TENS machines, posture corrective vests, injections in the spine, trigger point injections, chiropractors and now, at last, they put me on daily narcotic medication which I am loathe to take. MRI’s have confirmed that the pain is indeed muscular and 3 doctors (orthopedic, rheumatologist and pain doctors) have all pretty much washed their hands with me and stated that I need to be on pain killers every day.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar dr m tn Before diving into another invasive procedure, I visited a pain management doctor. ONE of the many things we did was try Celebrex. Now I was very skeptical as it had done nothing prior to surgery. But once my spondy was fixed I though - let's try it again. I have to happily report that this NSAID really did work. So much so I was able to lay off the Vicodin and/or Norco as a supplement to "stay ahead of the pain".
Avatar m tn Taken from: http://www.rxlist.com/celebrex-drug.htm "What are the possible side effects of celecoxib (Celebrex)? Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Avatar f tn She put me on celebrex.....and told me no more refills on pain pills which is good. I am sorry I am rambling. First time I have had anyone to talk to about this. I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful children. I work full time and have a wonderful career. I can't bare to loose any of that. I guess I need some advice, reassuring, anything? Has anyone been on celebrex? I commmend everyone that has went through this.....everyone that I have read about on here is amazing.
Avatar f tn But you are strong you can get off of it. Have you tried Celebrex instead of the other anti-inflammatories? Since Celebrex is a Cox2 not a Cox1 and 2 it doesn't ruin your stomach like the others. But, I still get some stomach pain and I take a Zantac with it every time and for a couple weeks after getting off of it. Maybe you can try something like Neurontin or Lamictal? I don't know if this would help since it is for nerve pain. It helped my back pain some but not when it was severe.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
1155483 tn?1262432647 I asked my GP, who I have been seeing since early childhood and who I trust completely in medical matters, to attempt a Non-narcotic treatment plan. He took me off the meloxicam and put me on Toradol (Ketorolac) 10mg 3xDaily. Now, I have researched a bit about the drug, checking the insert and also several websites, such as Drugs.com, and all of them say not to take the medication for longer then 5 consecutive days and that it is not indicated for the treatment of chronic pain.
Avatar m tn If you do have anxiety there are non-narcotic medications that can help you, as well as some narcotic ones. If you have a long standing history with your GP perhaps he has seen you being anxious previously, and therefore thinks that is what is going on with you now! However, no MD should ever take such symptoms lightly regardless of how they "think" they know you! Have you ever had an MRI of your brain?
Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar n tn I never had high blood sugar but recently after a 10 day course of celebrex for an inflamed shoulder muscle my fasting blood sugar shot up to 137. I read that celebrex has this side effect. Is it reversible?
Avatar f tn but my concern now is first-time stabbing, burning foot pain on both sides that is excruciating/disabling and have to try to go to work 2morrow. Neurotin prescribed by RN covering for docs. Is this gonna help or do I need a supplemental narcotic to get thru day before I can reach rheumatologist? HELP!
