celebrex

Avatar f tn t think you would have much of a case if you did file against the manufacturer of Celebrex. GI problems, rashes, and even heart problems are documented possible side effects of Celebrex and many other non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. The GI problems are the most common and the heart problems and rashes are listed as being in the category of SEVERE side effects of the med and if you experience any of them, to contact your doctor right away.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar m tn The first pathway can slowly destroy the stomach lining and over time, cause ulcers or GI bleeding. Celebrex is the only medication that does not go down the COX-1 pathway very much. Others were developed (Vioxx and Bextra), but then recalled due to issues with people having heart problems. So, if you do not have GI bleeding or an ulcer, you may want to ask your doctor about other NSAIDS.
370181 tn?1595629445 too many cardiac risks AND GI bleed warnings. So much testing required during treatment. The anxiety while taking it would, in my opinion, far outweigh any benefits. I asked my rheumo to let me try opioids. I DO understand that these types of drugs are controversial in the treatment of arthritic pain, and are never the first line treatment choice, but I think I've given the other stuff a fair trial.
Avatar n tn Since the blood work and the results the doctor told me to stop taking the Celebrex and just to take Tylenol instead. The doctor now wants me to have an upper GI evaluation. What could possibly be wrong?
203342 tn?1328737207 He was going to give me Motrin but I told him my GI doctor told me not to take it. So he prescribed Celebrex. The pharmacy noticed I had an allergic reaction to sulfa before and said that Celebrex contains sulfa in it. I told them I just broke out in a rash so they gave me the prescription. Now I'm wondering if I should take it and risk a break out again or take the Motrin and hope things will be ok with that. I just don't know what's best!
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized for a GI bleed from a gastric ulcer which caused acute blood anemia about 4 weeks ago. After I was discharged I started to feel better and get my energy back after 2 weeks. (I received 2 units of blood in the hospital). But, in the past week I have increasing started to get fatigued and only able to do limited min. activities. I also get easily short of breath when I exert too much.
Avatar m tn I immediately became jaundiced again, and began running a low-grade fever. After another investigative ERCP and colonoscopy, the GI doctor essentially washed his hands and turned me over to my Internist. The fevers progressed by month rising a few degrees each month, but lasting only 14-16 hours per day. By the fifth month they were 105.5. I saw Infectious Disease doctors and had every test known. The only tests that were positive were that I was highly anemic and my SED rate was 69.
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar m tn I have had 5 different conflicting reports about what was to happen regarding Coumadin, ranging from total d/c, to hold for 1 week, to hold for 1 day, to resume. TPA was withheld after this stroke, because of GI bleed. Why would it have been OK to give TPA last year after an upper GI bleed when many units of blood were needed, but it was NOT OK for TPA this stroke following colitis with trace blood? Why would Coumadin have been held at all after the colonoscopy?
Avatar m tn chest xrays (normal), ekg, cbc, liver and pancreas enzyme blood tests (all normal), upper gi series (showed some thickening of rugal folds), upper endoscopy with biopsy (mild gastritis and gerd, negative on celiac and h pylori), gallbladder ultrasound (normal), ct scan of abdomen and pelvis with contrast (normal), colonoscopy (normal) and hida scan with cck (normal). I do have health anxietys and am currently in therapy and taking vybrid for anxiety.

Year 2000 Upper GI Bleed, 8 blood transfusions duodenum ulcer. Feb 2010 Upper GI Bleed. I've had GERD a long time, taken Proton Pump Inhibitors for years and I have it under control.

6708370 tn?1471490210 Anyone have thoughts about Celebrex for pain management?
Avatar f tn It’s more dull and annoying. A little background. Last month I had a kidney stone and a near fatal upper GI bleed. I passed the kidney stone about 2 weeks ago. I recently, in addition to the pelvic pain started feeling fullness in my bladder. In the last month I’ve had 2 X-Rays and 3 CT scans- one with contrast. Aside from the kidney stone everything was normal including the pelvic area(no mass etc).
Avatar dr m tn Before diving into another invasive procedure, I visited a pain management doctor. ONE of the many things we did was try Celebrex. Now I was very skeptical as it had done nothing prior to surgery. But once my spondy was fixed I though - let's try it again. I have to happily report that this NSAID really did work. So much so I was able to lay off the Vicodin and/or Norco as a supplement to "stay ahead of the pain".
Avatar n tn Black stool usually means there is some bleeding somewhere in the GI tract. See a GI doc ASAP !!! Drinking alcohol with Hep C can cause cirrhosis which can cause varices that bleed.
Avatar n tn My mom is in the hospital for a GI bleed from cirrhosis and is hallucinating really bad (probably withdrawals from only quitting drinking the night of her GI bleed). They aren't giving her any medication to help her sleep or relax. Is this the right thing to do.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar n tn I never had high blood sugar but recently after a 10 day course of celebrex for an inflamed shoulder muscle my fasting blood sugar shot up to 137. I read that celebrex has this side effect. Is it reversible?
1602878 tn?1304336016 My spinal fluid leak is gone!!!Thank you God!! The Dr. put this fourth blood patch in the thoracic area of my back - much higher than the first three which were in L4-5. I am almost four weeks free of that pain and brain fog. I am left with loud ringing in the ears, but that is also lessening as time goes on. I had another setback a week ago. ended up in the ER with horrible upper stomach pain, weakness, and nausea. The blood work showed my potassium level at 1.7!
Avatar f tn But you are strong you can get off of it. Have you tried Celebrex instead of the other anti-inflammatories? Since Celebrex is a Cox2 not a Cox1 and 2 it doesn't ruin your stomach like the others. But, I still get some stomach pain and I take a Zantac with it every time and for a couple weeks after getting off of it. Maybe you can try something like Neurontin or Lamictal? I don't know if this would help since it is for nerve pain. It helped my back pain some but not when it was severe.
