Celebrex for osteoarthritis

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex for osteoarthritis

celebrex

Avatar f tn I have been taking Celebrex (200 mg a day) for about five years for bone on bone knee osteoarthritis. It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
Avatar f tn true, I was on celebrex for a short time and it did not work for me. I thought it was making even more edgy and did not help with my muscle & joint pain. I think just like everything else, it is different for different people. Good luck & welcome to the forum.
Avatar f tn thanks for the reply...as for celebrex I can't take due to my allergic reaction to sulfer... which Celebrex has in it....So I have NO IDEA what I can take that is NON narcotic????
1459410 tn?1285695005 I have taken ibuprofen for weeks at a time in the past for the osteoarthritis in my jaws. I try to take it sparingly for it now. But I get frequent heartburn and was recently put on cytotec generic, which is supposed to help with stomach lining. I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
Avatar m tn A man aged 81 was taking celecoxib 100mg daily following knee replacement surgery for osteoarthritis. Three weeks after commencing celecoxib he developed jellybean-shaped loss of vision centrally in each eye. This occurred every day after his morning dose and lasted for a few hours. The celecoxib was stopped and there was no recurrence of the visual disturbance.
Avatar f tn sorry to jump in, but i had the impression that Celebrex was going to be taken out of the market for several reasons. It is not sold in South America because of that, since people were complaining about these symptoms you metion (upset stomach, etc) and one of them was "bouncing pain". Amy, did they put you straight on Celebrex, or did you try other mild over the counter painkillers? i suffer from both AS and MS, and i take higher doses of Advil or any other Iboprufen around.
Avatar f tn twice a day for osteoarthritis. I have taken Celebrex for years, and about 5 months ago, it really stopped doing much. I wondered if any of you take or have taken Limbrel. How long does it take for full effect and can you take Motrin or Tylenol with it. My doc says that I can take the Motrin in between the Celebrex wearing off and the Limbrel taking hold. I just hope that this is the answer to some of my pain.
1378884 tn?1315505845 Celebrex is an excellent anti-inflammatory for a lot of people. It can have some potential cardiac side effects in some people (which is why it was pulled of the market for a short time a few years ago), but just keep an eye on your blood pressure. Use a home cuff but don't go overboard checking your BP 5 times a day! Check it about once a week. I like to do mine first thing in the morning before I get out of bed.
Avatar m tn Surgery has been suggested to me as well however my doctor has me on celebrex for the arthritus and also tylenol arthritic medication pain killers. I have heard that over a long period of time celebrex may not be good for you however in the interim until you decide it may give you some help.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40mg Omeprazole for a year now for a stomach ulcer and because I also take celebrex 200mg for osteoarthritis I also have diverticulitis/ diverticulosis and had 30 polyps removed from my colon dec.
Avatar dr m tn OMG! Thank u so much! You have described exactly the kind of pain I have along with OA in my shoulders, spine, and hips. I had an MRI and the diagnosis was DDD in T11 & T12 but was not a candidate for surgery. I have been taking percocet 10/650 3 times a day but it doesn't help with all the pain I have. Like u said it is very difficult to explain the different kinds of pain. I wake up with pain from the OA & I take a pill in the A.M at noon and 1 in the evening.

Could Facet arthritis all come from this autoimune problem... I do also have osteoarthritis on my knees and arthritis on my shoulder... Any advice out there is welcomed.
Avatar n tn Fosamax is safe for liver patients. Celebrex in the short term (for a couple of weeks) should not be harmful. However, it is not something he wants me on for any length of time.
Avatar m tn I took Celebrex for several years for joint pain due to Crohn's. I keep having bowel obstructions so I went to a new dr. He told me to stop taking the Celebrex and start taking a tylenol everyday. I have not had any more obstructions but I do still have some joint pain.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar f tn My name is Brian and I am a 38 year old male living in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. For the past 4 years, I have been dealing with severe pain throughout the muscles of my back and left shoulder blade area. Starting at around the mid back region and traveling up to the shoulder/neck area, I have several, several “knots” of hard spots throughout the muscles where the pain stems from and radiates through the back.
Avatar f tn t even imagine what it would have been like if I just waited for the insurance to approve the Celebrex. It would have never of happened and I would have been on no meds! I'm so glad my Rheumy appointment is next week. I'm taking my boyfriend with me so that he can remember things that I would forget and be there for support. He actually suggested he go with me to make me feel better. I still have no gotten my TENS until because I can't afford the $150.00 copay.
Avatar m tn The tests you need to ask for are Free T3 and Free T4, which are actual thyroid hormones and TSH which is a pituitary hormone that stimulates the thyroid to produce thyroid hormones. Many doctors will only want to order the TSH - insist on the Free T3 and Free T4, as well.
Avatar f tn Ok lets get to my question. My doctor has put me on celebrex, lyrica, gabopentin and tylenol 3. for the past two months she put me on percoset. I was supposed to take two a day but went up to 4 or 5 a day not just to releive the pain but for the feeling it gave me. I went into the hospital 2 weeks ago with pnemonia. I was released after 3 days. Thesecond day I was home I overdid it again with thepercoset. My husband went to bed and about 10 mins after that he heard a bang. I had passed out.
