celebrex

Avatar n tn I never had high blood sugar but recently after a 10 day course of celebrex for an inflamed shoulder muscle my fasting blood sugar shot up to 137. I read that celebrex has this side effect. Is it reversible?
Avatar m tn Still some pain so am taking 3 Ultracet tabs per 24 hours with pretty good pain relief except following 30 minutes on the treadmill and various muscle building exercises and stretches. To calm down those muscles following exercises and stretches I would like to take one 200mg Celebrex daily but one drug interaction cite suggests "Moderate" drug-drug issue involving CYP450 2D6, which means nothing to me.
Avatar m tn I started taking Celebrex two months ago and have gained 18 lbs since. I am wondering if anyone has gained weight on Celebrex? I have a sprained lumbar, lumbago syndrome with back spasms. I can't take narcotic pain meds. Any alternative to Celebrex? Naproxen does nothing for my pain.
Avatar m tn I had had a problem with anti flams for a while and i new i couldnt take celebrex as i had terrible cramps in my stomach. My doctor gave me the meloxicam by mistake, he done it again the other day but luckily i spotted it and he apologised and changed them to etoricoxib. Please be careful when you are given pain relievers and anti flams. Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..
Avatar f tn t want to take plaquenil just yet. Doctor said to take celebrex and a muscle relaxer. I have been taking 1 mg of xanax for 3 weeks and before that it was about twice a week as needed. I was having such anxiety and sleep issues rhemy said to take it every day. Now 3 weeks later she wants to try the new coctail of celebrex and muscle relaxer. Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
486512 tn?1208777187 I have lots of pain in my joints and now many muscle spasms, for which I take Celebrex and Methocarbomal. they help a lot, but the pain pills (Darvocette) work for the rest of the pain. Has you doc decided whether or not you have Lupus? I have Lupus (SLE) and Sjogren's Syndrome. I don't have a clue about your lumps. I did see a news blip yesterday about a man with HPV that caused lumps to grow alllllllll over him, to the point of making him look like a tree trunk.

Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar n tn Asthma, an unconfirmed dx of inclusion body myositis or polymyositis (dx at the same time during hospitalizations), I was on steroid treatment, so did not do the muscle biopsy. All dx were backed up by clinical picture and bloodwork. Also anemic ++. I have just had my annual blood work results come in, and my cholesterol is rising, inspite of dietary changes. Total cholesterol is 218, HDL 64 and LDL 135, LDL/HDL ratio 2.11, chol/HDL ratio 3.41.

Avatar f tn m not a sports person have not done anything out of the ordinary. the muscle on my calves are very tight and sometimes cramp. I have done a ultrasound to rule out a blood clot. Fortunately nothing was found. Thank you for any response. I do stretch sometimes, put heat on.
Avatar f tn Stenosis and scoliosis in lumber spine and osteoarthritis in both hands. Apart from the intermittent leg/bone pain I still suffer from in the long bones (which leaves the muscles tired and painful and as if they are contracting), I had excrutiating finger pains for the first part of this year. I have been on celebrex and had cortizone injections, but still continue to suffer, especially with the bone pain.
Avatar m tn I am on prescription Celebrex and Tylonel Arthritis for OA and scoliosis. Regular anti's don't cut it since they only last 4-6 hours. TA works for 8 hours and it has helped but the Celebrex helps the most. So maybe try TA and see if that helps?
Avatar n tn My two daughters take Celebrex as a person would take Advil here or there and do fine with it .. they both cannot take ibuprofen. My son cannot take it since birth as he gets bad reflux from in .. They make custom made ibuprofen suppositories if you really need a NSAID but cannot do it by mouth and they are wonderful .. you need a compounding pharmacy but my co pay was only $8.00!
Avatar f tn I agree with Geminigirl that Celebrex might be a good option for you as it is specifically formulated to help with osteoarthritis pain. Celebrex is COX-2 inhibitor type NSAID and it is linked to heart attack and stroke. If you have high blood pressure, this medicine may not be the right fit even if it is controlled by blood pressure medications. And over time, NSAIDs increase blood pressure so that is a long term side effect that should be considered.
Avatar f tn I have a temporary bridge in and although it is not great the bite is OK. My Dr. gave me Celebrex to bring down the inflamation but I quit taking it after 5 days because my heartbeat was fluttery and I seemed to get out of breath quite easily. That part is OK now. Is there anything else I can do? This discussion is related to Jaw and ear pain after crown.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar f tn Hey Hopey. I was just prescribed Celebrex too!! I'm very anxious to see how well it helps b/c i have constant back pain and have tried several meds that haven't given ANY relief. I started the Celebrex today, 600 mgs. And will take 400 mgs/day after today. The dr DID say it can take a few days to start feeling relief from it.
1207048 tn?1282174304 It might help to be evaluated and then go for a few sessions and see if it helps. If it is muscle they can help you with range of motion excersizes (sp?) and even give you some to do at home before bed and in the morning to help you not feel 95 anymore, lol.
3211536 tn?1359385569 Being improperly treated by a gastro with lasix alone for edema and ascites and can cause muscle cramping. All loop diuretics including Lasix, cause low potassium levels (hypokalemia). And low potassium levels can cause cramping. That is why Lasix is only taken in addition to Spironolactone. Never alone. This is not my opinion. From the Practice Guideline of the AASLD.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have calf cramps at night that leave a sore spot on your calf muscle the next day?
Avatar f tn I'm am a very fit 20 year old male. I work out a lot I do I lot of running and I eat fairly healthy. However I play football/ soccer (I'm from England) and a game of football is 90 minutes long and I can never last the full 90 minutes because I get server muscle cramps around 70 minutes. Avatar n tn o you do anything strenuous? i have always suffered muscle pain and it is really bad at timesmine is due to nerve damage in my neck, but because i was so stressed about it it became worse, because i was so tense i was actually tensining my own muscles so in turn causing more pain also you could be having a slight panic attack over why you are feeling so rough please go to your doctors so he can prescribe you some anti inflammotory tablets and maybe get some blood tests done.
Avatar f tn Hello, Are you experiencing a lot of pain from the BFS? I have been on Neurontin before for nerve damage in my spine and have heard it can cause muscle cramps in some people. I have also heard, and I don't usually sway people in this direction on MedHelp, but Opiates, such as Oxycontin, are very helpful for your condition. I am assuming you are speaking of Benign fasciculation syndrome? Correct?
