I just had first root canal #14 through dental crown. Endodonist said there was pus -- infection. I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Said he doesn't usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Other antibiotics likely to cause seizures are ciprofloxacin, cefdinir, cephalexin, and penicillin (there are others too like metronidazole and TB drug INH etc). Usually taking vitamin B along with antibiotic prevents the likelihood of seizures. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!

I took a 10 panel std test prior to the test I was taking Cefdinir although I stopped taking it 5 days before testing would the cefdinir affect the results which were negative.
Has anyone else had to take Cephalexin while pregnant? I'm 19 weeks and taking 3 pills a day for a week for an infection on my toe. I'm a big worry wart as this is my first pregnancy and I'm wondering if anyone else has taken it or had any problems.
I'm 11 weeks pregnant and I was diagnosed with a UTI. I was prescribed cephalexin at the hospital I went to. I was told to take it 4 times a day for 7 days. Will this effect my baby? I'm unsure. I'm not allergic to any medications. Please let me know if any of you have had the same concerns.
Now have a possible sinus infection and doctor gave me Cefdinir. Two days into the medication, my neuropathy symptoms have increased. The burning, needle like sensations and numbness. I do not want to go through that nightmare again. So I stopped taking the antibiotic and am waiting to hear from my doctor for an alternative drug. Is this considered an allergic reaction or a severe symptom. Anyway to know which antibiotics I can use and not have this reaction.
I was put on a mild bacteria killer but this had no effects on the staph, so my DR. placed me on the stronger cephalexin and after a bit, everything seemingly went away. However, I also began to notice a little bit of discomfort around my anus, mostly when flexing my sphincter or with a bit of pressure, but not when using the toilet. I also noticed that my inner thigh area became somewhat itchy when wearing tight clothing or when my legs would rub together.
My dog was taking cephalexin. After a couple of days she started acting tired not eating. Then she had 5 seizures they were six hrs apart. Took her to the vet they put her on phenobarbital 2 pills twice a day. Seizures have stopped, but she cannot walk very good her rear end doesn't work right, all she does is sleep, her eyes are red a puffy. I asked the vet if she could be allergic to cephalexin. She said she didn't think this drug could cause a seizure.
t want to take the Clindamycin because it made me so ill, he prescribed Cephalexin. Does anybody know anything about this drug? I looked it up and it said it is similar to penicillen. Will it work since the penicillen didn't? Sorry to sound so paranoid, but my dentist is not very easy to talk to about this and I am so scared. I hate when people/doctors think you're exaggerating. Believe me, I want to find a drug that will take care of this! Then maybe the pain will go away!
m doing. the supplements enhance the effectiveness of the antibiotics and the 2nd antibiotic (cefdinir) is to go after the lyme. we know there is nothing here to treat the cyst form of lyme but the Dr. didn't want to put me on any more medicines at this time.
I had unprotected vaginal intercourse w/ my girlfriend in the days before I became symptomatic. My girlfriend had been taking cephalexin 4 times a day from 2/24 until a day or so ago (she had a minor dental procedure and was prescribed the cephalexin I'm assuming to prevent infection). Would the cephalexin have treated any potential gonorrhea infection?

After he told me I have been watching my self closely and I have some cephalexin 500mg that the doctor gave me for an urine tract infection about 9-10 months ago and I have 2 refills, should I get them refilled and start treating myself until I can get to the doctor. I've called and they don't have anything available till the end of this month. I've been to the free clinic three times and they are so crowded I can never get seen.
I told the doctor that this particular medication had done nothing for my issue previously, but they refused to look into anything other than herpes. Third time I went to the ER and was given Cephalexin for a bacterial infection. I was also in so much pain they gave me Dilaudid. Cephalexin cleared up all symptoms in about a day and I continued taking it until the pills ran out. Literally 2 days after I ran out of Cephalexin the symptoms have returned.

I noticed a slight rash on my ears a week ago, a couple days later it had spread to the back of my neck and into the hairline at the back of my neck and above my ears. A doctor prescribed cephalexin for cellulitis even though the symptoms aren't presented. The rash is dry and feels coarse and bumpy. The drug doesn't seem to be helping, nor does the Benadryl I'm taking to manage the itch. I've been taking the drug for only 4 days.
