Avatar f tn 90 percent of UTI’s are from E. coli. D’Mannose attaches to E. coli in the urinary tract and takes it with it when you urinate. When I have a UTI I take one pill at least every 2 hours for about a week instead of having to take antibiotics nonstop. That doesn’t treat the cause, but deals with the infection part. Now, for the diagnosis. Have you looked into interstitial cystitis? It is a possibility.

Avatar m tn t usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Avatar n tn Hi there. Actually, E.Coli is the most common cause of all urinary tract infections. It takes place often when someone has a bowel movement and wipes back to front rather than front to back. E coli then transfers to the uretha and gets into the urinary tract. She was on IV antibiotics so was in the hospital?
Avatar n tn Cranberry juice helps fight off urinary tract infections, and sometimes can get rid of one that you already have, but it's best to go to the doctor and get it treated. Then drink cranberry juice to try to prevent bacteria from forming.
Avatar n tn Lemon and cranberry juice will help with urinary tract infections as a preventative in susceptible individuals but will not cure an active infection. Your dog's urine should really be checked for infection with a urinalysis. Please bring a fresh urine sample to your vet for analysis. You may not even have to bring your dog in for an exam if the urine is positive for a simple urinary tract infection (an infection without crystals). The vet can simply give appropriate antibiotics.
Avatar n tn itchiness is usually yeast, but the burning could be a urinary tract infection. is the burning internal or external???
Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I am a guy and I have been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. Specifically "Morganella Morganii." When the doctor told me she said the specific urinary tract infection I have is very rare in men and was "strange" I could get it. I have never had a urinary tract infection in my life. The timing of it seems odd as it comes only one week after I had sex with a female escort.
Avatar n tn Hi, I can understand your situation. Urinary tract infections are common in children. The usual approach is to treat the child first and obtain imaging studies of the urinary tract. Following birth, heavy colonisation with aerobic bacteria normally becomes established in both sexes. Because of the shorter length of the urethra in females there is a greater chance of getting urinary tract infection due to contamination from the anus.
Avatar f tn If physical exercises and medications have been ruled out then infectious and structural factors need to be considered. This includes urinary tract infections and kidney stones. You had previous urinary tract infections (is this correct?).This may be contributory. Your cystoscopy showed slight inflammation. The cause of which may be also be infectious in nature. I suggest that you decide to wait for the next consult. Drink plenty of water and eat well. Exercise daily also .
Avatar m tn I wonder if there is such a thing as a hypersensitive urinary tract? If so, I have it big time! Every time this is like this, it makes me feel bad all over. I guess when the prostate is irritated, being a gland, it can affect how you feel all over. I hope I can get over this. I am still drinking lots of water. My questions are is there such a thing as a hypersensitive urinary tract and prostate? And 2. What can be done to improve this. A certain vitamin or mineral? Saw Palmetto?
Avatar m tn Based on my experience, blood in the urine was due to urinary tract infection. I felt pain in my vagina when passing urine and drops of blood came out after the urine. My gynecologist gave me antibiotics to treat the infection. If your wife feels the same, better take her to the doctor immediately.
Avatar f tn I have periodic urinary tract infections but usually no protein in urine. This time there is protein as well as white blood cells, etc. I have been put on ampicillin. I don't understand how a urinary tract infection can cause the protein??
565147 tn?1218252591 Hi, “infections of the urinary tract are the second most common type of infection in the body. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for about 8.3 million doctor visits each year.* Women are especially prone to UTIs for reasons that are not yet well understood. One woman in five develops a UTI during her lifetime. UTIs in men are not as common as in women but can be very serious when they do occur. Normally, urine is sterile.
Avatar f tn I have a question for those of you with urinary tract problems. I have had several UTIs and seem to be retaining urine. Also, my bladder and kidneys hurt. As many of you know, I do have Lupus. The question I have is should I be going to a urologist? I have talked to my GP about this and I have even mentioned being tested for Lupus Nephritis, but he just tells me that anytime he has checked my kidneys they have been fine.
Avatar n tn The infection could be bacterial, yeast, or a combination. Usually urinary tract infections are accompanied by the symptoms of increased frequency of urination, and/or drinking, dribbling, or inappropriate urination. However, occasionally the only symptom is licking the vulvar area. It would be best to have your dog examined by a vet of course, but at least bring a fresh urine sample to your vet for urinalysis to help differentiate between a urinary tract infection and vaginal infection.
