Avatar f tn I was tested for strep and mono. Strep came back positive (Strep C) and negative for mono. I was prescribed amoxicillin and was feeling much better on day 3 until I developed a horrible yeast infection. I was then prescribed the one dose of fluconazole and the yeast infection was cleared. My original symptoms were gone so I didn't bother taking the rest of the antibiotic. (I know, my fault).
Avatar m tn Good catch, mojo. And every doc has a different approach with different meds and/or herbs. My doc didn't do any herbs (like artemisia) at all and stayed strictly with pharmceuticals. Lyme treatment: still in its formative stage.
Avatar n tn I’m looking into group B strep since my new sexual partner was diagnosed with a group B Strep infection. His symptoms of the throat sound similar to yours. He has a very sore throat with bumps/blisters. He went to urgent care, they did s quick test for group A strep (regular “strep throat”) which came back negative. They told him that he most likely had s Vidal infection, took a culture, and would contact him in a couple days. The results came back that he has group b strep.
Avatar m tn ve had full blood work including testing for Mono, Lyme, Parvo, Thyroid, urine culture, blood culture, sugar, electrolytes, kidney/liver functions all normal/negative. I did have Strep Group G and Group C though symptomatic (apparently that means no big deal to the doctors) and was treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics (Augmentin; Cefdinir) I've gone on a low sugar, no caffeine, no dairy diet and taking a daily, d3, garlic supplement and probiotic.
20428793 tn?1497645172 One doctor found that I have Group A Strep present in my vaginal swabs, which he told me was quite rare but there are some articles online that show that other women who have had this have had the same symptoms as me. We tried a 10 day course of antibiotics (penicillin) with no success. We then treated my boyfriend (who was negative but just in case) and me again with another 10 day course. I also recieved vaginal cream for 7 days.
Avatar m tn If so then the virudans strep could also be the problem and viridans strep are more resistant to antibiotics. But I would check with your doctor on this and see if the Strep group B and Viridans strep were sensitive to Levoflaxacin. If they are it may be a suitable substitute. Why do you want to stop the Ciprofloxacin or switch? Do you have another problem you want to treat in addition to the urinary tract infection and prostate or is the cipro not working?
Avatar f tn I suffered of anal itching for a week after taking an the antibiotic Cefdinir. I was scared of it being warts or hemorrhoids. It went away after taking Activia yogurt and probiotics for a few days.
Avatar f tn So my last appointment I found out I was a carrier of group b strep:/ and I am kinda worried I'm allergic to antibiotics and worried the medications she wants to give me while in delivery won't work as good or the same as a antibiotic. Its bad enough I'm a germ freak and made my family and bfs family get the tdap shot now this!? Anyone else have to deal with group b strep?
Avatar f tn Its more of a bacteria kind of thing. I have strep b and have had it for years and never once had that happen. I would contract your doctor.
Avatar m tn I also noticed small dots of white puss on my tonsils. By the 5-6th day I took a strep test and got the results about 2 days later.. Came out positive for Strep Group C. I've been taking z-pack that I had extra for the past 5 days. I am positive for hsv-1 which I believe I've had since I was young BUT I am worried that I may have contracted HSV-2 or some other STD orally. My throat is feeling better but still hurts a little and it has been over a week.
Avatar f tn This is my second pregnancy, with my first one everything was fine but with this one I tested positive for the group b strep! I am very worried and can't stop thinking about it. I researched it and wants mortified with what I found out about it. I am terrified! Has anyone else dealt with this?
Avatar f tn Hey ladies I'm a ftm & my online results for my group b strep test just came back ... It was positive , what does this mean ?
7249862 tn?1392252689 Well group b strep affected both my pregnancys with my daughter's I had it with my first at 15 because I'm a carrier of group b strep and my wagers went at 12weeks and I delivered her at 23 weeks she couldn't make it because her lungs didnt develope and she couldn't move or cry and then I had my 2nd daughter in November at 21+6 but doctors didn't give me anything because I wasnt 24 weeks and my baby didn't had a chance of surviving they both past away but it only affects
193988 tn?1215023883 I was getting strep g from bad dental care and I never knew it until a host of problems started over a decade ago. Reactive Arthritis from the bacteria destroyed my ankles knees hips back shoulder. It also caused me to have gallstones and gall sludge. Teeth collect plaque and when the body has a way to get that plaque in bloodstream you get Cholesterol (which is mainly plaque) I eventually had 100% blockage in my RCA and came down with diabetes.
3062924 tn?1350414109 I have 2 boys and I also was a carrier for group b strep, not a big deal, while your in labour they'll hook pen g into your IV so it will have no affect on your baby :)
Avatar f tn Anyone else not have Group B Strep in their previous pregnancies and then get a positive test for it during one? Ive never had a positive result for Group B before with my other pregnancies but I do with this one. My Dr said its common hence why they test for it all the time but Im just curious.
Avatar f tn Like the previous poster said, take probiotics, cranberry supplements and try to avoid wearing tight or synthetic underwear. Group B strep is transient, you could return a negative/positive test one week and vice versa the next.
666089 tn?1260520261 I have had 3 babies and tested positive for group B strep with one of them, my Dr too told me that it really is'nt a big deal atleast not until you deliver. group B strep is a normal bacteria in teh vagina and happens off and on to a lot of women and they never know about it. from what i understand from my doctor while pregnant the baby is protected from group B strep, but during the delivery the bacteria can get in the baby's mouth and cause an infection which is bad for the baby.
Avatar f tn I ent harmful to everyone ive had it 3times now but with my other 2 it affected those pregnancy and my both daughters passed away group b strep broke my water bag at 12 weeks and then i gave birth at 23 weeks and my daugther had an infection plus the group b strep aswell and my other daugther who i had at 21weeks and 6daysi just went into labour at first i didnt know why it happened and but i knew straight away group b strep my mom also had it and lost my brother at 4months im now expecting my
Avatar f tn ve tested for it your considered colonized by the strep b bacteria and it will most likely not go away and stay away with meds now. Your supposed to be put on iv antibiotics during labor to kill of bacteria then so it doesn't pass to baby as it moves through the birth canal.
Avatar f tn I took a 10 panel std test prior to the test I was taking Cefdinir although I stopped taking it 5 days before testing would the cefdinir affect the results which were negative.
Avatar n tn Has any moms on here tested positive for group B strep im on my second pregnancy and just found out i tested positive my first pregnancy i did not im really worried for my baby has any one deliverd a healthy baby im so worried reading all the complications
Avatar f tn Every woman has group B Strep (it's part of the natural microflora that inhabits your vagina), but they are actually testing for levels of the bacteria. When you test positive, it means you have a higher than optimal bacteria count. It's not a problem at all when treated with antibiotics, which will bring the count to a normal level. It typically doesn't even cause problems when untreated, but it can. It's more of a precaution than anything.
7172456 tn?1403092946 Babies can become very sick from a Group B strep infection but this is not 100% i.e., not every baby born to a Group B strep infected mother gets sick. Are you pregnant? Group B strep is treated with penicillin or the like.
2006603 tn?1331329327 I am 37 weeks and last thursday i was tested for the group b strep and they said it would take about a week to get the results back, i have another doc appt this thursday and im assuming they will tell me the results then but i have a few questions that i forgot to ask my doc. I was just wondering if group b strep is something that you just get when pregnant sometimes? How do you get it? Is it like a STD? Any info would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had it too and yes you can still have the epidural. Group strep b isn't a bad thing at all for adults, it's just not good for baby, that's why we need the antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I just received my Group B Strep test results and it says DETECTED!!! I have have had 3 healthy pregnancies and never had a problem with Group B. What do I do? What should I expect?
