I was not tested again for strep but was given cefdinir. I realize I am only day 3 but my throat hurts worse than it did to begin with. I'm having trouble swallowing and have a consistent stabbing pain in my throat. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar symptoms or knows if this could be a continuation of strep or something else.

Now have a possible sinus infection and doctor gave me Cefdinir. Two days into the medication, my neuropathy symptoms have increased. The burning, needle like sensations and numbness. I do not want to go through that nightmare again. So I stopped taking the antibiotic and am waiting to hear from my doctor for an alternative drug. Is this considered an allergic reaction or a severe symptom. Anyway to know which antibiotics I can use and not have this reaction.

I know strep and allergies are definitely two different things, but it could be that if he has an allergy issue, his nasal passages and throat get irritated from that and then an infection occurs - the strep throat. t clear it so I was put on cefdinir pus pockets are gone and my throat is no longer sore, however I have whitish grey flat patches in my throat on both sides just behind my back teeth. 2nd dr I went to tested me and I tested positive for yeast she gave me Nystatin for 10 days and patches are still there. 3rd dr after looking at my throat said I did not have oral thrush I have tried to scrape these patches off but they are adhered firmly to my mouth.
As far as the concerns go regarding strep throat....Consider your drinking water a source. We were on well water and were informed that the constant strep throat infection my kids had could be coming from the water they were drinking. Strep can be passed through water. Ever since we have been on bottled water we have been in the clear.

I took a 10 panel std test prior to the test I was taking Cefdinir although I stopped taking it 5 days before testing would the cefdinir affect the results which were negative.
It's highly likely you're going to get strep throat. The incubation period for streptococci is 2-5 days so you should be feeling something around now.
On Oct 4th, 2014 I got sick. Seemed a normal sickness with a 100-101 fever, slight stuffed nose, scratch throat and fatigue. What I didn't realize was this was the first day of a recurring "not feeling well" cycle. Every few days to a week it reoccurs (though i'm never 100% well at any time since Oct 4th). Symptoms are what feels like a low grade fever in my head (though I never have fever), constant post-nasal drip, a slightly scratchy throat and tiredness.

If do you it could be a strep throat. IF no fever and no pus but just a red throat it maybe a virus. It should pass in a couple of days if it is a virus. If it dosen't get better then see a doctor and be honest about the oral sex. They can easily do a throat swab for GC and also a culture for strep throat or a rapid strep test and culture. I have a mildly sore throat that is presenting itself like strep with white pus on my tonsils (minus the severe pain, fever and other symptoms).
Went to the doctor today and they tested for strep, mono and the flu. All negative.
I tested for HIV today and also negative (rapid test, 5 weeks since last exposure)
Wondering what else it could be? Throat gono? Another virus?
