5915949 tn?1396188227 I attributed it to allergies so I let it go for too long to not take them but I hate taking meds prego or not.
Avatar n tn If your cat is already on a good flea control such as Advantage or Revolution, then parasites are less likely. Options to treat allergies are to continue to treat symptoms with medications (okay if symptoms only occur occasionally and your cat only needs 1-2 steroid injections per year), or to identify and treat the underlying cause.
Avatar n tn If this amoxicillin or ciproflaxin is human medication, do not give this to your cat as this is made for human consumption not for cats. Take your cat to a vet to be properly diagnosed and treated. Under no circumstances should you ever use human prescription meds on a cat.
Avatar f tn it could be allergies or maybe mono? if you have not had this before it can present as sore throat that is ongoing but is also generally along with fever, and tiredness and you had fever, a mono spot test if you have it would show up positive 2 weeks after symptoms first apparantly.
611067 tn?1458591483 By the way, last time we had her to the vet he didn't seem to think there was anything to worry about - she's healthy.
Avatar f tn (I could never take erythromycin, and I filled a prescription on my way out of town to take my kids to Disneyland. I found out to my dismay that it was erythromycin. I went to a drug store and bought the acidophilus and was able to take the antibiotic and actually enjoy the trip.) Have you been tested for allergies or sinus blockage? Good Luck!
10823174 tn?1413080834 It would be impossible for us to diagnose your cat, one because we are not doctors and two, a cat needs to be seen and tested for accurate diagnosis. Will be awaiting your post on the outcome.
Avatar f tn (like fleas) can cause allergies. Not saying your cat has fleas....just saying you might want to double check :) Good Luck.
11389935 tn?1417796609 Hi KCLover, Your Boyfriends cold was HIS. Your cat probably has allergies or an Upper Respiratory Infection (cat cold). Now if you cat has the herpes virus and this URI is one of the symptoms, your older cat can catch it from her. Although if they have been together for sometime they are both immune or both infected already. Theses URI will happen several times a year.
Avatar n tn First of all, are you 100% sure that the wound is because she keeps scratching? If she is, you have to make sure she doesn't have fleas or allergies. Allergy causes a cat to scratch constantly, and it may be caused by anything, from food to wool, to any substance or flea collars. The cat will immediately start scratching until the skin gets irritated. Don't put cortizone on the wound. Triple antibiotics will help keep the wound from drying out and prevent infection of the wound.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar m tn Your vet must have given you antibiotics. I don’t think you’ll find antibiotics for cat colds over the counter. Usually, this is how it works: The vet prescribes antibiotics, say, Clavamox (Amoxicillin) If that doesn’t work, then your vet prescribes another antibiotic. I was hoping, while I was reading your post, that you would tell us that the only symptom was sneezing. For your kitty’s URI, you need to go back to the vet see if they can give you something else.
Avatar f tn Works wonders for me, defintely have more symptoms when the cats are due to be washed. Vaccuum a lot and groom the cat regularly outside to help keep the hair down in the house. I would double check first that there is a true allergy involved, no use going through everything if you aren't allergic and it's from something else. Also look at the cat litter you are using, some have strong perfume or a lot of silica dust which is known to affect some people.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar m tn thanks for your reply.. but my main concern is why can't I breathe?? would a cold do this? would my cat allergies do this? did my asthma come back after 10 yrs because I smoked too much?
Avatar f tn m SURE he needs antibiotics. I can not afford a vet. I have some Augmentin, Is that ok to give a cat? I know amoxicillin is, but augmentin is a combination of amox. & something else. I really want to help this cat; i'm afraid he'll die if i don't. What should i do?
Avatar n tn You want to take the cat to the vet to get a diagnosis, and it might be a good idea to take a stool sample to the vet with you. Hopefully, your cat's problem is he is having a bit of a hard time evacuating. If there is some sort of inflammation in the rectum or colon, then antibiotics, maybe prednisone and a change in diet can help your kitty feel better. Let us know how this goes, and good luck to you both.
Avatar f tn I LOVE cats with all my heart but in allergist to them :(((((((((( whenever I'm near them I get hives! My allergies might be getting better but I'm not sure. Also I'm going to be working at a animal shelter soon were I have to be around cats and dogs. So if any1 would know if there something I could do or take besides allergy meds then can u please tell me?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar f tn The guess is food allergies, so we are going to try hypo-allergenic food. My daughter said she saw some dog food in the last batch of vomit from the cat, so he must have gotten a hold of some of that. Also, we are going to try to feed him more slowly because he was eating so fast.
Avatar f tn My mum is allergic to cats, what can i do to my cat to help her with her allergies??
Avatar m tn Is there any home remedy to cure an ulcer on the lower lip jaw of a cat. She is about 10 years old and a stray.
Avatar n tn You want to make sure that your kitty continues to eat, even if you have to force feed him after a few days, because cats who don't eat for a prolonged period of time can develop feline hepatic lipidosis, or fatty liver disease. While this is more common in overweight cats, it can affect any cat who goes for a long time without eating.
