Avatar n tn Hello Dr. I have recently tested positive for Chlamydia via a urine test. I have never had unprotected vaginal intercourse but have had several unprotected oral encounters with high risk women, most recently just over a month ago. My concern is I've read numerous posts on this forum stating you cannot contract Chlamydia via oral sex and I'm questioning the integrity of my test results but do not know what the interpretation is.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
333672 tn?1273792789 Some neuros are trying to start a trial for a neuroprotective drug for PPMS. They are planning to use measurements of substances in the CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) to assess whether the drug is having an effect. Their grant application was recently rejected. One of the funders' concerns was that they weren't convinced that people with MS would be willing to undergo 3 LPs as part of the trial. The neuros are trying to find out whether this is true of not.
Avatar m tn If you have had symptoms for 7 years it would make sense to have more lesions? Sometimes LPs are negative with MS. You might look at the McDonald Criteria that is how they diagnose MS. You can always be followed by a neurologist and a year from the MRI have another. How do your neurological exams go? If they are normal than it is not MS. The neurological exam is reflexes and such. Any doctor can do a neurological exam.
Avatar f tn Hi there. First off I have to say...If they could not get it by the Second or the very last third time around....There would be NO 10th attempt!!! OK, as far as your question goes I would think that because it was just that.."An Attempt" then the needle did not get beneath the arachnoid membrane of the spinal cord in the lumbar region to withdraw cerebrospinal fluid. With that being said, then the pressures should not have been affected.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a mammogram Aug 27th which that the small node I have had for years has grown. Two days later I had an ultrasound that shows a hypoechoic structure deep within the chest wall and has a hyperechoic notch to it with an appeappearance of a benign lymph node but does not correlate with the position of the mammogram. Given the findings of this ultrasound and enlargemnt of the density on the mammogram biopsy is recommended. My question is would you take it out completely?
Avatar m tn t know very much about the molecular structure. I find it a bit hard to understand, but I get pieces of it. This one seemed more concise then the the last one I sent you. - Dave http://www.natap.org/2001/jun/MoleBio.
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar f tn When used in larger amounts, as in cooking and baking, these calories and carbohydrate should be accounted for by carbohydrate counting or by using starch/bread exchanges. As an example, one half cup of SPLENDA® Granulated contributes 12 grams of carbohydrates and 11 to 20 grams are counted as one starch exchange. In SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener Packets, sucralose is combined with maltodextrin and dextrose. These ingredients contribute 1 gram of carbohydrate and four calories per packet.
368646 tn?1208393887 They never go away. They wanted me to keep having LPs until they got MS. Many people with MS have Negative LPs for MS. My Neurologist would not diagnose me with out a positive LP. Luckily my first LP showed MS. If you were just starting with MS ten years ago you might of had a normal LP and now seven years later have one showing MS .I personally do not know if I would have more than one LP. It is hard decision.
12832842 tn?1448728801 I was supposed to be in a study for this at NIH years ago. I declined because of multiple LPs. So it sounds interesting.
1645073 tn?1302694588 This show inflammation in the CSF only. LPs do not rule MS in or out they are a tool. Many with MS have no o-bands or normal LPs. There may be something else going on but Neurologists are only interested in MS. I do not know if that helps. Mine was going to LPs every six months until he found o-bands. Luckily I had lots the first LP. Sorry this is frustrating.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear you're having such issues. I wish I had some advice for the anxiety but I don't...hope the medicine helps! I have a question though - I thought people with Chiari are not supposed to get LPs. Have you (or anyone else) heard different?? I haven't found a doctor experienced in Chiari, but even the ones I do go to say no LPs because it could make the herniation worse. I realize it might be the lesser of two evils in your case, but I'm just curious.
Avatar m tn Your blood glucose increase is most likely caused by what you ate. 5 pieces of bread is a lot of carbohydrate. Additionally some vegetables (carrots included) have a high carbohydrate content.
Avatar n tn I do hope you are seeing a Chiari Doc if you have Chiari... and that you have already been decompressed if they are doing LPs. Selma and RedKim are 100% correct... according to Dr. Di at the Cleveland Clinic! I don't mean to scare you, but caution you and give you the best information, as we have all received it from our docs. If you have Chiari AND don't have a Chiari doc, AND if you have NOT been decompressed...
