They also contain a high source of vitamin A, vitamin B and calcium. PREPARATION: The pods are boiled in water or steamed and salted to taste either before or after cooking.
1310814 tn?1310654901 Yeah, I heard that too. Not good for hormones while TTC. Not sure what constitutes natural soy, so I just stay away from it all together. Apparently it's terrible for thyroid issues, too! I wonder if edamame is natural and ok to eat? Guess I shouldn't take any chances! My thyroid is screwed up enough!

Avatar n tn Last night, I was eating edamame and place the empty shells on a plate. I left the room and when I came back the plate was empty. I looked at my dog and he was liking his chops! He ate the whole plate of empty edamame shells! Is this going to harm him? What should I do?
587083 tn?1327120262 ve read much conflicting information about this, but what I believe we can say for sure is that soy products (soy milk, tofu, edamame) supply a weak form of estrogen from plant sources, called phytoestrogens. With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause.

Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?

Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?

Avatar f tn When used in larger amounts, as in cooking and baking, these calories and carbohydrate should be accounted for by carbohydrate counting or by using starch/bread exchanges. As an example, one half cup of SPLENDA® Granulated contributes 12 grams of carbohydrates and 11 to 20 grams are counted as one starch exchange. In SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener Packets, sucralose is combined with maltodextrin and dextrose. These ingredients contribute 1 gram of carbohydrate and four calories per packet.

Avatar f tn His A1c has steadily been climbing. Since he eats cafeteria food, his ability to correctly guess the carb. count has been challenging. How can we be encouraging and supportive while we are very frustrated and angry at his seeming lack of interest in maintaining good health! We just want to nag and scream at him which we know will not work at all. He also suffers from depression and social anxiety for which he receives on-going treatment through counseling and medication.
