Avatar f tn s nothing wrong with relaxing with a glass (or 2) of wine, after a long hard day. Wine is actually quite good for you, so long as you aren't drinking excessively.
Avatar m tn I run about 9miles a week, work out 3-4X at the gym each week, and drink a glass of red wine every night. I eat nuts every day, take Omega3, and rarely eat red meat - subscribing to a low cholesterol diet. Weight is 185 at 6'3", age 50. LDL is always pretty low - most recently 66.
Avatar f tn For BP this will mean regular exercise (daily), weight normalization if you are overweight, and eating an unprocessed low carb, moderate protein and high (healthy) fats diet. Medication should be used if lifestyle measures alone cannot control the bp. For diabetes, it is critical that you keep your blood sugars as close to normal as possible. Normal is Hba1c of < 5.0, fasting blood sugar in the 80s, and post eating blood sugars not higher than 120.
Avatar m tn Are there particular foods to avoid as a HepB carrier and is it right to continue to eat meat?I have stopped smoking and drinking for a while now and I like to know if a glass of wine now and then has adverse effect on my liver?

Avatar f tn I'm a few days away from having my period and I'm craving every creamy delight there is out there and I'm on a no carb diet. . What can I do to stop the cravings please? HELP!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Against what one would think as common sense a low carb diet (high fat, moderate protein), along with regular and intense exercise, can effectively reduce cholesterol. A regular glass of red wine (remember moderation) may also help. Fats should be natural sources under such a diet (ie.
86075 tn?1238115091 s probably why my liver is not bad off after 36 years, even when I had my wine at night - lots of good eating. Use to only eat the food I grew when I was a young vegetarian hippi living on 40 acres...those were the days, but good eating habits have always stayed with me and my weight has not changed since I was a teenager.
Avatar f tn A glass of red wine before a meal will make you hungry. BUT if you are on any kind of antidepressants or anti-anxiety meds drinking is not a good idea. They give wine to older people who have no appetite. I also have no appetite and find it very hard to eat most of the time. Nothing enjoyable about eating to me and now being on low-carb b/c of high blood sugar is not helping. Can't drink win b/c I'm on antidepressants. But I am not losing any weight at all.
Avatar f tn Obese adults followed one of the two diets for two years. Those on the low-carb diet had significantly higher cravings for carbohydrates and high-fat foods, although they were less bothered by hunger.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!

Avatar f tn I will still be pregnant on my 21st birthday and I'm not drinking anything. My doctor says the red wine thing is a myth any alcohol during pregnancy is potentially dangerous.
Avatar f tn My doctor said i can have a glass of wine a week.
Avatar f tn While there are many varying opinions on this I will say to me it's not worth it. The CDC, Surgeon General, American College of Obstetrician's and American Academy of Pediatric all advise that women abstain from any and all alcohol use during pregnancy. This is because not enough is really known about the effects that even a small amount of alcohol can have on any stage of a developing fetus. Who really wants to sign up for that study right?
Avatar f tn I know this is a controversial topic but honestly I dont have anyone close to me who is pregnant so I just wanted to get some opinions. I have always liked wine and have heard people talk about drinking a glass of wine here and there during pregnancy. I'm 22 weeks and asked my doctor about having a glass but he said he's old fashioned and doesn't believe in that. From a medical standpoint I feel like he is saying that because of liability reasons.
Avatar f tn Yes I have a glass of red wine occassionally and know others that have also drank red wine during pregnancy. I think in your first and second trimester it's one glass if red wine every week and once you get closer to the third trimester it was one glass a day. I was a little doubtful about it at first but after doing a lot of research I found that a glass of red wine is fine, it also has benefits for you and the baby bc red wine clears up toxins in the body as well.
Avatar f tn A glass of wine is ok every now and then. A glass of wine every day wouldn't be advisable.
Avatar f tn I'm 17w and I was really wanting a glass of wine or sangria. I've heard that it is alright to have red wine and is good for the heart. Anyone hear that too?
