Avatar n tn I will always tell you to get a cardiac workup or at least see a cardiologist, but I wouldn't get too excited just yet. The "hesitation" you feel is probably the pause after a PVC. This is an extra beat, but since the heart is refractory, it can't fill up at the normal time and waits for the NEXT signal, which feels like a pause. You should always make sure your heart is normal first.

When I first learned my blood sugar was high at 364, I immediately and without hesitation went on a diet and lost about 45 lbs. I did pretty good for a year and a half, but then I began eating sweets again. Plus, my best friend and Mom were very ill and dying, so I did a lot of stress eating. Needless to say, I gained most of my weight back and my blood sugar got elevated again.

I basically follow a low carb diet.. which intake is only 20-30g of carbs a day.. the first 3 days of weight loss is mainly water. You honestly feel like a million bucks after a week of doing it. If you can keep up with a low carb diet for awhile, its a great way to loss some extra pounds, feel great and help with fatigue. P.

I watch my diet very closely because I have a recurring SIBO infection, but I have noticed a little weight gain.

Afternoon snack I get 1 fruit, 1 carb, 1 protein. For dinner I get 3 veggies, 1 fruit, 3 starch, 4 protein, 3 fat. Bedtime snack I get 1 milk, 1 carb, 1 protein. It's a lot of food. I found salads worked well and I combined a lot of my food that way.

Avatar f tn This can be done by carefully adjusting your insulin doses and combine with eating a low carb diet (the low carb will reduce your insulin requirements and thus also protect you from going too low or high). I recommend the book diabetes solutions by Dr. Richard Bernstein. HE describes how to get excellent control using insulin and lwo carb diet. Even if you don't end up going as low carb as he recommends, you can still use what he teachers and a lower carb approach to get good control.

I have it set for 1200 cal 25%carb 30%fat 45%protein. I have had blood sugar issues but haven't been sticking with the program. I have been feeling crappy lately so I started tracking sugars again and it's not so great. I plan to got to the Dr. next week to have my a1c1 checked. It's been a while.
Avatar m tn Depending on your results from your blood sugar meter you may need to eat much lower carb to manage blood sugars. This is called "eat to your meter" appraoch. An alternative low carb approach recommended by Dr. Bernstein is detailed in his book "Diabetes Solutions" and also discussed on Utube at "Bernstein Diabetes University". He recommends typically about 30 g of carbs / day mostly from non-starchy veges. You will need to experiment and see what works for you.

Avatar m tn You need to be sure you are using the right Insulin Carb ratio for your doses before meals and that you have an accurate carb count. Calorieking.com is a good resource for carb listings in addition to what's on packages (and be sure to correctly measure servings). In order to gain weight you want to increase your protein and fats so that you can gain weight without increasing carbs.
