Avatar m tn I do 15 Mins of treadmill (avg 10 speed), 10mins of cycling followed by 5 mins of skipping (rope jumping) everyday. After that I do 1hr of weight training (single body pary) 5 days a week. Would this schedule help me lose weight. P.S I do follow a diet, but mostly I tend to binge eat once or twice a week max.
Avatar n tn So to lose the belly fat should I start a low carb diet and start strength training? Anyone that has a good resource on Internet to start to look into both? Thanks to everyone!
Avatar m tn I agree. Eat lots of vegetables, whole fruits (not juice), and lean fish, meat, poultry. Cook with olive oil or vegetable oil. No frying. Drink water, coffee and tea without sweetener. Take Metamucil and you will lower your cholesterol and feel slimmer faster as it fixes digestive problems.
2053729 tn?1330435506 I have been watching what I eat following a high carb/low carb diet every other day. According to what I have researched, my BMR is 2485 and I eat about 1800 calories a day, so I should be losing weight just being me. Add in the approximate 2000 calories I burn with my exercise and I should be melting into a puddle! We do a lot of weights, pilates, abs, pushups, strength bands and squats at my aerobics class so I know my body is changing. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info :-)
Avatar f tn Hi, I am also trying to lose some weight, and it's just-stay healthy. I workout almost every day,or at least I try to do some walking or cycling when I don't have the time, and you need to watch your calories. But that's not it,tou have to make sure you get the good calories, not the empty ones that are in cookies and such. Women's health mag helps me a lot, too!
Avatar f tn i am 54 but my body feels like it's 74. All my muscles ache and I have 0 strength and I feel frumpy and old Would like some beginner exercise tips ..
4772047 tn?1359235949 Drink lots of water and consume fruits rich in vitamin C as it is a fat burner. Strength training is very important to lose fat in thighs. It will help in toning your fat muscles. Leg lifts and wall sits may help. Running and cycling can be done. You can also try yoga. Yoga will help in losing weight and toning thigh muscles. I sincerely hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Hi, the best way to exercise is do some aerobic training which will result in fat loss and getting the body in good shape. If you particularly want to do some exercises for your legs then cycling is the best. Also diet is an important factor to consider if you are concentrating on fat loss. That should not contain sugars, refined carbohydrates and fatty substances. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I walk on a treadmill three times a week for 30 minutes. Because of pretty severe post-exertional fatigue, it took me almost a year to build up to that. I started at 2 minutes very slow on an exercise bike and increased my time very gradually. Eventually I switched to treadmill b/c of knee problems on bike. I cannot always keep to 3x/week if I am a lot sicker, e.g. couldn't sit up the other day, so obviously did not go to the gym that day!
Avatar f tn A leg press targets your thighs and rear, while leg curls on a leg curl machine will help you get firm thighs and a strong back. To combine cardio with strength training, try a rowing machine, which has the added benefit of working your arms and upper body. Combining different types of exercise can help you get a stronger workout. Try interval training when you're doing your cardio. Simply alternate between a minute or two of intense exercise followed by a minute or two of moderate work.
Avatar f tn After exercise your body is nitrogen poor and your muscles have been broken down. Providing your body with the correct nutrients after your workout is crucial in stopping the catabolic process in your muscle and shift the recycling process toward repair and growth. If you fail to feed your muscle at the right time after exercise, the catabolic process will go too far and can potentially damage your muscle.
Avatar f tn You can start slow and work up, but you should aim for at least 30 min/day 3 days/week and try to work up to 60 min/day 5 days/week. Adding in some strength training will help as well, since that will build muscle and muscle burns fat.
284738 tn?1283106819 And, once I got to that point, I was ready to add some step aerobics, strength training, occasional indoor cycling, sometimes aerobox, rarely (anymore) pilates, etc. I was surprised that "just" walking helped me get into decent shape - I worked up from there. Getting exercise DVD's from the library is a GREAT idea. That way you can try out new workouts and see what you like. Good luck!
Avatar m tn My guess is your blood sugar cycling up and down. Unless you take blood sugar measurements throughout the day, you will not know it, as one reading only does not tell the whole story. Have you noticed any pattern with what you eat and dizzy spells? For example, if you eat protein+fat breakfast (eggs, cheese, bacon, etc) versus a carb rich one (low fat muffin), you would likely feel better with protein+fat and otherwise dizzy with carb rich meal (which causes blood sugar cycling).
Avatar f tn t a part of your program. Over-training can lead to injuries, insomnia, weight and strength fluctuations, mood-swings, declining endurance, prolonged bouts of sickness, tendinitis and reduced concentration. If you feel you have reached a plateau and are no longer furthering your improvements, it may be caused by over-training. Without rest weight lifting can be counterproductive. Excessive recovery time prevents you from reaching your goals.
Avatar f tn As a 16-year-old girl, your body is still developing, so trying to build bulky muscles by lifting large weights can cause damage to your tendons, muscles and cartilage, according to the MayoClinic.com. However, doing some basic strength training exercises such as Pilates, yoga or pushups can get you a more toned body. Additionally, having more muscle tissue will help you burn fat at a faster pace. Before doing anything get the OK from your doctor!!
2082101 tn?1419965061 Hello there, Firstly I will advise you to eat the right types of foods .All the strength training and running or swimming will not help you manage your shape if you don’t eat the right food. Consider your portion sizes and avoid eating too much food. Maintain a healthy balanced diet. Include aerobic exercises such as running, swimming, cycling, tennis into your week which increases your energy expenditure and makes managing your shape easier.
Avatar f tn While you may also build muscle, it is minimal compared to strength training routines. Strength training exercises are performed to build muscle, but they also burn calories. Added muscle will shape and tone your body and may lead to a loss of inches before you see a weight loss reading on the scale. Both types of exercise help you to reach optimal health and aid in weight loss. Mix up the duration's, intensity and frequency of each based on your overall goals.
