I would like it to be able to plug in the portion size and have it calculate the total carbs. Plus, I'd like to be able to add foods to it. Although his pump can do some of this already, I'd like to have a separate calculator that isn't attached to his body. I would also like to get a dry/liquid measuring set and a kitchen scale for home use.

6954086 tn?1398695955 I wouldn't bcuz of the pizza dough it is a carb & turns into sugar. I was allowed to eat but told to stick with protein. Avoid sugar and carbohydrates.
Avatar m tn i almost never go above 110 now even after pizza or spaghetti or other heavy meal. this after losing some weight doing more exercise and eating less carb for 4 months. my fasting in morning is now 80-90 range most times < 85.
Avatar f tn I ate pizza that I made that was out on the counter, I felt like I had just made it but apparently I've lost my mind. I started worrying and checked I started making the pizza at 1:30 it took 22 mins to cook and I ate it at 5pm. Now I've heard anywhere from its fine for four hrs after, two hours after, eight hours after. So now I'm just really worried about that food poisoning that can hurt baby. Ugh why did I eat it..it was so good but not worth freaking out. Any info on it?
Avatar n tn Hi, question. Diabetes is in my family. So I've become a bit more careful with diet and exercise. I got a meter for periodic checks. I always fast around 73-78. Yet after carby meal(pizza, burgers and fries), I tend to go up between 140-180. I HATE sticking my finger, and get worked up thinking about doing it at 2 hours. I'm sure sticking myself effects me, as if I stick myself then check 3 times in a row I see a steady rise. Anyway. I saw the Dr. I had normal fasting, and a A1C of 5.5.

Avatar m tn other day i also had some thai dish later found it was 150g of carb but bg was only 100 at 1 hour 45 minute after eating. some other food take me higher. like pizza is always in 120s 1 hr after eating at 2hr i am always back under 100.
Avatar m tn t spike your blood sugar. Meats are likely ok. Nuts. etc. 1 piece of pizza instead of 3 - or learn to make low carb pizza instead of buying it out.

Avatar f tn Since the beginning of June I have tried to lose weight and have been checking my FBG every morning. After 1 1/2 months of low carb dieting my FBG is getting worse. The last six days FBG has been between 127 and 141. Another confusion for me is that I don't have spikes in BG during the day. I have tested 1hr, 1&1/2 hrs. and 2hrs after eating and I never go above 145. However, if I eat a regular carb meal my BG will spike at 145 and then stay above 125 for 3 or 4 hrs.
Avatar f tn d suggest getting a carb-counter booklet at a bookstore -- in the section of diet books -- many calorie counting books contain carb amounts too. My number one recommendation is: don't allow diabetes to change your son's life. We look at it as an inconveniece (to say the least,) but it hasn't changed anything my son would normally do. He's a lifeguard and does Tour de France style bike racing.
Avatar f tn Low carb diet will help her lose weight. It will also reduce her insulin requirements (so she needs to monitor carefully). There are many online links (you will need to search as I'm not allowed to post links here) if you google low carb and diabetes management. For an excellent book look for "diabetes solutions" by Dr. Richard Bernstein. I found that book revolutionised how I think about diabetes and how I manage it for myself (all for the better).

Avatar f tn Cardio alone actually raises your body fat. Whats your diet like? Try increasing your protein intake. EAS makes a great pre- made low carb protein shake, Walmart carries it. I normally eat about 1500 calories.

957549 tn?1273722033 t be worried about being infertile the fact that your already watching your diet is a great start and you will find plenty of forums online telling you whats best to eat and what to avoid! I think low carb diets are usually the best :) Stressing about fertility will only make it harder when you do want to start trying as it has a really negative effect.

And you ladies know how hard it is to resist pregnancy cravings.
