carb

Avatar n tn Heya. Ive been looking at this 'net carb' stuff and I cant seem to find out anything thats easy to understand. How does it fit into a diabetic diet? Anyone know a quick easy way to sum it all up for me in a non-confusing way?
Avatar f tn You will find that you could sustain your energy better as well. Read labels and watch net carb (total carb-fiber). Should be 40g for guys and 20g for women on a daily basis.
Avatar n tn I use the sweet bee carb counter it lists 200 top foods and their carb and glucose level
Avatar f tn Atkins has very good low carb products! some only have 2 net carbs and 3 net carbs. Do what you're doing and yes no simple carbs.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar n tn -) Rice in soups or casseroles-high carb. Pasta-high carb. Potatoes-high carb. Bread-high carb. Regular soda pop and fruit juices-high carb. Sugar is interesting-you can have your sugar and eat it too. If your dr tells you to eat less sugar you need to fire right back at him and say, don't you mean carbs? Do you know of anyone who sits and eats a cup of sugar? No. But I bet we have all eaten a cup of potatoes rice or pasta or bread....
Avatar n tn hodge twin Msare all over the net I tried fasting but ididnt work for me is it because of my nutrition or something else
Avatar n tn I eat under 50gr of carbs a day. Reasonable or not depends on who you ask. We do know carbs are what your body turns to Blood Glucose (BG). Dont confuse the carb with the stuff its mixed with, vitamins, minerals. All those are available in other foods without the carbs.
Avatar f tn d suggest getting a carb-counter booklet at a bookstore -- in the section of diet books -- many calorie counting books contain carb amounts too. My number one recommendation is: don't allow diabetes to change your son's life. We look at it as an inconveniece (to say the least,) but it hasn't changed anything my son would normally do. He's a lifeguard and does Tour de France style bike racing.
Avatar n tn for breakfast you can have 2 to 3 net carbs, lunch 3 to 4 net carbs, and for dinner 4 to 5 net carbs. Of course i ususally only have 3 to 4 for lunch and 3 to 4 for dinner. They have put me on a 1800 calorie diet, but i ususally only eat around 1200, but only because im just not that hungry. Also you are supposed to eat about every 4 hours. so for snack you can have 1 to 2 net carbs. a good snack is carrots and lt. ranch or pretzel sticks w' 1 tblspoon of peanut butter.
Avatar n tn I think that what you are eating or NOT eating could also be a very important factor that your doctor may not be tuned into. I am an IDDM and for the last year I have been overweight - and very uncomfortable with it. I put it on because I had to be completely sedentary for many months in order to stabilize the injury I received from a high impact accident.
Avatar n tn My mom is just plain diabetic (not pregnant). But she says it helps to eat a serving of protein when you eat a serving of carbs because it helps stabilize your blood sugar and keeps it from going up and down. I think it's something about the way your body metabolizes stuff. Also, there are mixed studies out on this right now, but I don't think it would hurt to try- adding cinnamon to stuff like oatmeal, applesauce, etc.
Avatar f tn that insulin is taken according to how many carbs are eating and YOUR particular carb to insulin ratio.
Avatar m tn (Yum, chunk of cheese and handful of pecans!) Offhand I dont know the net carb of an apple but you can look that up and think about it. When the sugar levels in your blood are too high, the blood becomes abrasive to your body. If you eat all of your carbs all at once, your blood sugar will go higher than if you ration it out over the course of a day.
Avatar n tn I am looking for some type of electronic, hand-held carb counter that has a library of foods pre-programmed into it. I would like it to be able to plug in the portion size and have it calculate the total carbs. Plus, I'd like to be able to add foods to it. Although his pump can do some of this already, I'd like to have a separate calculator that isn't attached to his body. I would also like to get a dry/liquid measuring set and a kitchen scale for home use.
Avatar n tn The chicken is fine as it is protein, but the corn and the plaintains are quite high in carbs for a portion. Its a starchy vegetable. Check the glycemic index or a carb counter book. You can find this info online. I love corn also, just dont have it to often anymore.
Avatar n tn He started me on a 20g net carb diet (similar to Atkins) and has me checking me blood sugars 6x per day so I can see what my body is doing (and then he promptly went on vacation). Yesterday, I ate nothing all day, exercised for 30 minutes, and my blood sugar never went below 145. At 8 p.m., I ate a salad with diced ham, a little cheese, a very low carb dressing, and a few mini-tomoatoes (no starches, no sugars). Two hours later, my blood sugar was 135...
535822 tn?1443976780 Have you heard of that ,The Federal Commision says that net-neutrality rules would apply to all parts of the internet ..OBamas FCC is set to vote on proposed' regulations,' this Thursday..Socialism not freedom, they say.it is to rescue the public from nefarious Corporations that control technology..
Avatar n tn Bulgar, Himalayan red rice, wild rice, Quinoa, ate all supposed to be better than plain white rice. Research shows sourdough to be better than even what bread. But ultimately tough have to try different things and check your blood after every meal and see what causes biggest spikes. Like for me I just can't do potatoes.
193609 tn?1292180293 What is the recommended number of carbs to eat per day? I am using a calorie counter and I am good there, but not sure how many carbs per day will equal weight loss??? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have been Experiencing a pretty nasty skin rash on my chest, Lower back, under arms and stomach since I have stated a low-carb diet. When I noticed the rash about 6 months ago I was just trying the program for the first time and neither myself or my doctor connected the two together. After about 2 weeks of induction (less than 20 carbs per day) I began to slowly reintroduce foods back into my diet and the rash began to fade away.
