Avatar f tn The IVD Venison and Potatoes only on for 3 wks has not helped yet. Should I change to one without a carb? Can a dog be allergic to most/all protein or carbs? Your answer was the most thought out comprehensive answer and I thank you. Could there be a possibility that my dog was born with an auto-immune disease? and what might I test for?

Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar f tn Hey my dog eats her poop all the time too!!!
82861 tn?1333453911 I know these products have been mentioned here in the past, but I can't remember the names! My sister's dog freaks out every time she gets inside the vet clinic. Going there and getting in the door is no problem, but once she's inside she's a shaking, crying mess. Can someone remind me what calming meds are available in pet stores? I'm getting way too old...
Avatar f tn My beagle dog often eats her own feces, what is causing this and what can be done about it/meds?
Avatar f tn The Vet offered a perscription, but I would like to try something over the counter first. Can I give him aspirin or would it hurt me? Any advise would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn d suggest getting a carb-counter booklet at a bookstore -- in the section of diet books -- many calorie counting books contain carb amounts too. My number one recommendation is: don't allow diabetes to change your son's life. We look at it as an inconveniece (to say the least,) but it hasn't changed anything my son would normally do. He's a lifeguard and does Tour de France style bike racing.
Avatar f tn I actually wrapped my one really bad twitchie foot with an ace bandage one night. I did all that after first taking a hot hot bath. It worked somewhat. I also started up on Magnesium tabs back then. Although I feel great, I'm still taking the Mag tabs and B-Complex almost 160 days later.
Avatar f tn Hot dogs have nitrates in them! When I was pregnant with my second if I smelled or touched a hot dog I would vomit!

454022 tn?1208370394 My Dog Sophie, a 5lb maltese pomeranian mix, 8 years old, eats her own poop from time to time. We feed her good food. She was eating Purina Proplan Small Breed formala, and we've tried transitioning her to royal canine special mini to see if a change in food will help but we just caught her eating her poop again! We take good care of her, I even hand feed her because she seems afraid of her food bowl, and yet she still eats her poop like a starving and neglected stray!
Avatar m tn Sorry, I don't but I suggest you check some of the Yahoo canine cancer boards. They were a great help to me, for one, when our Greyhound had Lymphoma.
Avatar m tn Firstchoicenaturals.com Kit #48 looks good. It also has Transfer Factor and Medicinal Mushrooms which are both helpful. In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine teachings, all foods' have an innate temperature. Lamb and Venison are hot foods and most fish are cool foods, for example. Simply stated, a dog with cancer is likely to have some inflammation issues and is already a bit on the "hot" side.

Avatar n tn I am usually able to control his allergies with a special diet and pest control. He has seen his vet for hot spots due to flea bites on a few occassions and received short term medications. This past week my boy started itching in vaious spots on his body. During a bath, I found two fleas on him and removed the fleas and treated him with his between the shoulders medication. I also applied cream on his red spots (they were not bad spots but still irritated) from his itching.
Avatar n tn Last week she developed a hot spot on her cheek. I shaved the area, cleaned and disinfected, and treated with apple cider vinegar to dry it out. It has stopped oozing, and has scabbed over, and appears to be healing fine. Here's the Q: Does the same bacteria from the ear infections cause this? Do you think they are related? Oddly enough, the hot spot appeared under the cleaner of her two ears. Thanks!
