But ultimately tough have to try different things and check your blood after every meal and see what causes biggest spikes. Like for me I just can't do potatoes.

193609 tn?1292180293 ve never been into the whole low carb craze and always knew it would be a way of life I would never be able to stick with for the rest of my life. Personally, I have anywhere in the mid to late 100's and sometimes even well into the low 200g carbs a day and have for the last year and a half and yet I've lost 165 lbs. I lost my weight by exercising and counting calories. Losing weight is really just a simple math equation and comes down to calories in vs calories out.
Avatar f tn Carrots, broccholi, potatoes and most fruit are high carb and therefore fattening. I agree how evere that they are nuitrious and good food. That is not the same though as good and nuitious food can also be fattening and therefore should be consumed in full balance to low carb veggies and protains.

Avatar f tn I usually do at lunch or dinner. I also buy the fruit cups that are sugar free for a "free snack" when I'm craving some fruit. It's my understanding you can subsitute some high fiber grams for carb grams, but I'm unsure how to do the calculations so I don't bother. If you like bread Nature's own has some low cal, low carb whole wheat with fiber,white and honey wheat bread.

Sugar is interesting-you can have your sugar and eat it too. If your dr tells you to eat less sugar you need to fire right back at him and say, don't you mean carbs? Do you know of anyone who sits and eats a cup of sugar? No. But I bet we have all eaten a cup of potatoes rice or pasta or bread....

You can stay on it for the rest of your life! If you own an iPhone - the apps are free online. You can order it online as a hardcover or an eBook. Basically, you can everything except for "White Carbohydrates" .... Bread, potatoes, fruits, rice & noodles - for example!
Avatar m tn can lithium cause low serotonin thereby causing carb cravings. if i have carb cravings from lithium than the more carbs i eat the more fat i get. my question is how do you stop lithium induced carb cravings? when i eat meat and vegetables i feel full and satisfied but later in the morning i get this craving for bread and potatoes. its a vicious cycle i can't let go of. please help me with this dilemma.
Avatar n tn Hi, question. Diabetes is in my family. So I've become a bit more careful with diet and exercise. I got a meter for periodic checks. I always fast around 73-78. Yet after carby meal(pizza, burgers and fries), I tend to go up between 140-180. I HATE sticking my finger, and get worked up thinking about doing it at 2 hours. I'm sure sticking myself effects me, as if I stick myself then check 3 times in a row I see a steady rise. Anyway. I saw the Dr. I had normal fasting, and a A1C of 5.5.
Avatar f tn You will find that you could sustain your energy better as well. Read labels and watch net carb (total carb-fiber). Should be 40g for guys and 20g for women on a daily basis.

Avatar m tn Sugar is certainly a big offender that needs to be avoided, but high carb foods like bread, rice, potatoes, etc will also spike blood sugar. If she is eating fairly low carb, getting regular exercise then it might be time to look at the meds. How long she has been diagnosed is also an important factor.

In 2 weeks I've reduced night time Lantus from 25U to 10 U and BS in AM 90- low 100's. Yesterday enjoyed burger with L&T,onion, mayo on lettuce with no bun.. Today I made unbreaded baked zucchini with tomato sauce and mozz. cheese. I'm also exercising more.

Avatar f tn if you eat a lot of fruits potatoes and starches can cause massive weight gain try a low carb diet and see if it works if you stick with it in that is your problem you will lose a 8 to 10 pounds within 2 weeks and if not then you might have a thyroid problem
