1301482 tn?1325722991 simple carbs, such as those found in sodas, things made with white refined sugar, flour, white rice, and even fruit. The other type of carb is the complex carb (otherwise known as dietary fiber), which is found in whole grains, veggies, seeds, nuts, etc. The simple carbs are broken down quickly and enter the blood stream as sugar, which if not used, is then stored as fat. Complex carbs/fiber are broken down slowly and keeps you feeling fuller longer.
Avatar m tn Nuts are a great food -- one of the best snacks you can possibly have. The only down side is they can be loaded with calories. Almonds are among the best and healthiest. Stay away from peanuts. http://www.yeastinfectionadvisor.com/foodscauseyeast.html People with glucose issues also tend to get more yeast infections and that's not good for your immunity and digestion. Peanuts seem to feed yeast, as the above link explains.
Avatar f tn Over the last two years she has put on considerable weight which is making her depressed, she has also recently broken her leg and is finding it really hard to manage on the crutches because of her weight. Avatar m tn t eat pasta, or flour products with the exception of 2 slices of low carb bread (14G total) daily, rice, potatoes, or anything with added sugar is out. I stay clear of al juices. I eat strawberries and blueberries, but shun apples and oranges. There are tradeoffs: I yearn for a bagel and cream cheese. But instead, I have a hard boiled egg, and a plate of bacon. Vegetables! Piles of broccoli and Brussels, spinach, and salads. But no corn, peas, and beans. They're carb laden.
Avatar f tn Rather, I avoid them entirely if at all possible. Now... I live on handfuls of almonds, peanuts, walnuts, and cashews. Cheese!. All of those things have latent carbs, it can't be helped. But I won't kowingly sit down and consume a plate of pasta, rice, or potatoes; I just won't do it. No cookies, donuts, or candy. This ideology has worked for me, and now works for my daughter.
8369322 tn?1397826669 I also shunned grains of any kind like rolled oats, wheat. Also out were honey, most fruits, lots of types of beans, peas, and corn. All fruit juices were banished. Do you realize how many oranges you must consume to yield a large glass of orange juice? What I began to eat were lots of eggs, cheese, fish and meats, big salads with olive oil and vinegar with crumbled up feta cheese and hardboiled eggs, and sunflower seeds. Nuts became my "candy".
Avatar n tn I do eat low carb. However, if you use insulin you need to be, aware that some carb foods digest more quickly than others, which may affect insulin dosing.
1401296 tn?1280799533 however, my feeling is that your body needs all of the food groups, so by cutting out carbs, you could be depriving your body of necessary nutrients, etc. If you do go on a carb free diet and lose weight, most likely, you will gain it back if you go off the plan. If you stick with the complex carbs - fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc - and eliminate the simple carbs - such as sugar, white flour, regular pasta, etc, - you should do better. Of course, you still have to limit your portions.
500923 tn?1210168927 Also, I read nut are good but not all of them. Walnuts should be avoided or limited when on thyroid med because they can possibly neutralize it.
10570408 tn?1412078257 I am sorry to hear that. Try and cut down on your intake of red meat and processed food as well. Replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables. If it still fails to get your weight shifting, try Liproxenol max. It was very effective for me.
Avatar f tn I am 14 years old, have never smoked (I had to state that, despite my age; Messed-up world!), have never had any history of asthma or breathing disorders, and have no other conditions relevant to my problem: I sometimes feel like my airways are being squeezed. I've had this for as long as I can remember, but it happens very randomly and very rarely; on average 5 times a year, though sometimes I'll have 2 every month.
Avatar n tn cheese eggs and a little bit of slightly sweetened drink. Total carbs around 10g. 1 hour after breakfast, it was only 90. I think I'll try playing with it a bit more, but I'm starting to think that my body just doesn't respond well to carbs early in the day. Lunch and dinner it doesn't seem to matter, but for some reason I have to be super careful for breakfast.... Thanks for the help.
Tbd I recommend low carb (20 - 50 g a day), moderate protein (approx. 0.8 - 1 g / kg of body weight), and the fat that comes naturally with the selected foods; enough that you are not hungry. Note: you must not eat low fat foods - eat regular fat foods, use butter, oil reasonably in cooking, choose fatty meat cuts, avocado, etc).
Avatar f tn Then you need to know your carb/insulin ratio. count the carbs and take the proper amount of insulin. and test your BG after 2 hours and 4 hours to see if your BG is in range. if its too high you need to check on your carb/insulin ratio to see if it needs adjusting.
Avatar m tn t answer why it is contradicted, or how long you should wait before taking meds and eating them. From what I get, it is because of the fiber content (?) of the walnuts. Again, I have never seen this on any Levo pamphlet, but found this interesting. Is taking walnuts a 'bad' thing with Levo? (I don't take Synthorid). I wait at least two hours before eating them in the morning, but it seems like Synthorid is saying you can't have them 'ever'.
Avatar f tn medication is one part of blood sugar controle (BG)... your taking drugs so is execise... your exercising so is what you eat.... What do you eat? Carbohydrates raise BG... ALL carbs raise BG carbs are pasta, rice, wheat, most fruit, ALL raise BG.
Avatar m tn ve been on that High Fat Low Carb diet. But my mother is in town and after taking her to the city zoo, and doing a bunch of walking, I decided to take her to a Thai place. It was the first time eating a carb meal in a month. It was drunken noodles, with tomato, basil, and chicken. Some sites say that as long as it's under 140 im fine. But the internet says crazy things sometimes. I wanna hear from real people.
Avatar n tn Diet Colas are the worst for you! Drink lots of water and lemonade. Use Nuts for snacks, especially Almonds, Walnuts, Pecans and some carrots and things like that....but the nuts kept me from craving sugar. My sister has had long term weight issues from childhood. She finally at age 60 had Lap-Band and lost some, but can't live with the no ever soda and choking, so she had her band loosened...at your age, I wouldn't consider anything that extreme.
370181 tn?1595629445 and instead of a nice long list of actual names of foods, there were more diagrams and pie charts and arrows going up and down.......... OH, btw, I am a total carb addict. I'd mainline the stuff if I could. If I had a choice between a baked potato and a fudge sundae, I'd pick the spud every single time. A huge piece of cake or 22 slices of pizza.........doh! This may sound like I'm taking my situation pretty lightly, but the truth is, I'm scared to death.
