Avatar f tn Should I eat a whole sandwich immeadiately and leave the pizza for tomorrow or should I eat a half a sandwich now and eat the pizza when it arrives?
6954086 tn?1398695955 I wouldn't bcuz of the pizza dough it is a carb & turns into sugar. I was allowed to eat but told to stick with protein. Avoid sugar and carbohydrates.
Avatar m tn oh forgot to say that high of 110 is at 1 hr, 2hr is back close to fasting
Avatar n tn Hi, question. Diabetes is in my family. So I've become a bit more careful with diet and exercise. I got a meter for periodic checks. I always fast around 73-78. Yet after carby meal(pizza, burgers and fries), I tend to go up between 140-180. I HATE sticking my finger, and get worked up thinking about doing it at 2 hours. I'm sure sticking myself effects me, as if I stick myself then check 3 times in a row I see a steady rise. Anyway. I saw the Dr. I had normal fasting, and a A1C of 5.5.
Avatar m tn On the weekends I do splurge more, for example on Saturday I may have 3 slices of pizza instead of the salad for lunch. And on Sunday I may have a burger and fries at a restaurant for one meal. And I may have a serving of ice cream at some point too. I have heard eating “low carb” can cause your blood sugar to go extra high when you do splurge on carbs, so I wonder if that is what is happening with me? I don’t know if my usual 130ish carbs counts are “low carb” though?
Avatar n tn There are a few low carb beers, for example, that would make good beverage choices, and monitor your blood sugars more often. If you have more questions about this topic, your endocrinologist/diabetes specialist can provide more medical knowledge on the effects.
Avatar n tn She ate one small piece of pizza, small piece of cake and 1/4 cup of ice cream and ran around playing hard for 5 hours. Before dinner(6:00 p.m.) 234 bg; had 7 units of novolog; at 10:00 p.m. reading was 231; we did not give insulin because we thought it might be adrenaline. At 1:00 a.m. the bg was 298; gave 2 units of novolog. At 7:00 a.m. bg was at 266.
Avatar m tn You need to be sure you are using the right Insulin Carb ratio for your doses before meals and that you have an accurate carb count. Calorieking.com is a good resource for carb listings in addition to what's on packages (and be sure to correctly measure servings). In order to gain weight you want to increase your protein and fats so that you can gain weight without increasing carbs.

Avatar f tn m having strange fluctuations in appetite. Sometimes I am starving and only want junk food or pasta or pizza (carb cravings) and other times everything sounds disgusting, I'm nauseous and I'd rather not eat at all. Anyone else? What should I do? Force feed healthy foods and not listen to my appetite?
Avatar f tn Hi, if you could exercise (walk) go low carb, stop all pizza, pasta, juice, sugary things, drink a lot of water you would see a difference.

Avatar m tn d ditch it, even though moderate alcohol is generally cardioprotective for most others. I am not a low-carb dieter myself by any means, but it's uncanny how the low-fat / high-carb seems to be going wrong for you. Maybe a steak would indeed do you good. Saturated fat would also tend to raise HDL. Did you know that the theory that keeping saturated fat and cholesterol low (to prevent artery disease) is not actually proven?
Avatar n tn Carbs are in most foods especially junk food, pastries, potatoes, corn, peas, pasta/sauce, white rice white bread, white buns(whole wheat/brown is usually less)pizza. Pasta, pizza, chinese food(terrible for blood-sugars) stays in your system longer so it keeps your sugars higher longer or can make a spike a few hours later. If you don’t read food labels on packages, learn to. It goes hand in hand with carb counting. You also need to know how much Insulin to take for how many carbs.
Avatar f tn Some people find that carbs make it worse. For me am following low carb diet (no grains / bread / potato etc) and that seems to help a lot with the heartburn.
Avatar n tn -) Rice in soups or casseroles-high carb. Pasta-high carb. Potatoes-high carb. Bread-high carb. Regular soda pop and fruit juices-high carb. Sugar is interesting-you can have your sugar and eat it too. If your dr tells you to eat less sugar you need to fire right back at him and say, don't you mean carbs? Do you know of anyone who sits and eats a cup of sugar? No. But I bet we have all eaten a cup of potatoes rice or pasta or bread....
594189 tn?1386916607 For the record, I am against low carb diets. But I appreciate that diet is a personal choice and will try to offer advice around that fact. Is this everything you are eating? I don't see any fruits/vegetables, or adequate fiber. It doesn't look balanced at all, even for low carb. Personally, I know I couldn't follow this plan for long before I'd go nuts and cheat. It is my belief that lifestyle changes are a better strategy than severe, extreme diets.
1273125 tn?1365077526 to use insulin you have to count carbs and inject for the carbs eatin take to much insulin and you go low, not enough insulin you go high. insulin done wrong can do more damage I think insulin done rite more work than eating rite.
Avatar n tn I do eat low carb. However, if you use insulin you need to be, aware that some carb foods digest more quickly than others, which may affect insulin dosing.
Avatar m tn It would be cool if we could enter a time, a bg reading, a carb count, and amount insulin taken. (That is calculated for bg and for carbs). Having this all on one window would be AWESOME! Then later if he shoots up to a high reading we can look to see if he took the proper amount or skipped a step.
Avatar f tn Yes. This kid, my fourth baby will not let me eat scrambled eggs. The really difficult thing about that is that I'm diabetic and eggs is my quick, easy, low carb go to for breakfast. But no, this bub ain't havin it!!
Avatar n tn I am looking for some type of electronic, hand-held carb counter that has a library of foods pre-programmed into it. I would like it to be able to plug in the portion size and have it calculate the total carbs. Plus, I'd like to be able to add foods to it. Although his pump can do some of this already, I'd like to have a separate calculator that isn't attached to his body. I would also like to get a dry/liquid measuring set and a kitchen scale for home use.
