Carb count of liquor

Common Questions and Answers about Carb count of liquor

carb

Avatar n tn Liquor itself will lower your blood sugar (liquor is all 0g of sugar, including liquors like rum which are based from sugar cane), but if you pair it with a sweet mixer (juice, soda, etc.) it will raise and lower your blood sugar. I usually find that when I drink, the mixers raise it first and the alcohol lowers it later. As for insulin, I use an insulin pump with a 1 unit / 11g of carb ratio.
Avatar n tn First of all, I'd like to say that I'm not a medical professional, I'm just the father of a diabetic child. Since she's not of legal drinking age, I asked a friend of mine who is also Type 1. He's also not a medical professional, but is of legal drinking age. According to him, alcoholic beverages are no different than any other type of drink or food, you have to count the carbs. The alcohol doesn't affect a person with diabetes any different than anyone else.

Avatar f tn What are the chances of getting GD at age 39? Throw in the added factors of me being overweight and already having sugar level on the high end of normal (pre-diabetes)?
Avatar f tn "Pump and dump" is a myth and a waste of liquid gold. It isn't an effective way to get alcohol out of your system or your supply - only metabolism will do that. If you plan to breastfeed, talk to a lactation consultant. The rule of moderation applies pretty strictly here but alcohol is processed through your system at about the same rate whether you are nursing or not.

Avatar n tn I do eat low carb. However, if you use insulin you need to be, aware that some carb foods digest more quickly than others, which may affect insulin dosing.
1401296 tn?1280799533 however, my feeling is that your body needs all of the food groups, so by cutting out carbs, you could be depriving your body of necessary nutrients, etc. If you do go on a carb free diet and lose weight, most likely, you will gain it back if you go off the plan. If you stick with the complex carbs - fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc - and eliminate the simple carbs - such as sugar, white flour, regular pasta, etc, - you should do better. Of course, you still have to limit your portions.
10570408 tn?1412078257 I am sorry to hear that. Try and cut down on your intake of red meat and processed food as well. Replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables. If it still fails to get your weight shifting, try Liproxenol max. It was very effective for me.
Avatar f tn My 14 year old has crohns. She currently has a blood count of 8.6 She has already had 4 transfusions. She will be getting another in a day or 2. She spent the night with a friend whos parents allowed her to drink alcohol. She drank whiskey and butterscotch schapps, thinking that as long as she ate, she would be ok. But with iron deficiency anemia, i need to know just how dangerous it is.
Tbd I recommend low carb (20 - 50 g a day), moderate protein (approx. 0.8 - 1 g / kg of body weight), and the fat that comes naturally with the selected foods; enough that you are not hungry. Note: you must not eat low fat foods - eat regular fat foods, use butter, oil reasonably in cooking, choose fatty meat cuts, avocado, etc).
Avatar f tn Then you need to know your carb/insulin ratio. count the carbs and take the proper amount of insulin. and test your BG after 2 hours and 4 hours to see if your BG is in range. if its too high you need to check on your carb/insulin ratio to see if it needs adjusting.
Avatar f tn medication is one part of blood sugar controle (BG)... your taking drugs so is execise... your exercising so is what you eat.... What do you eat? Carbohydrates raise BG... ALL carbs raise BG carbs are pasta, rice, wheat, most fruit, ALL raise BG.
684658 tn?1239384954 Yet I found a bottle of vodka in his dirty laundry basket-only about 1/8 of a bottle gone (It was a small bottle). He claims he doesn't like vodka--in fact, he calls it "sleeping water" because he's had friends die from drinking it (choking on their vomit after they passed out). That night, what got me is he was sounding like he was drunk, yet he was drinking Pepsi! You can't get drunk just from Pepsi--unless you're adding something to it. And!

Avatar m tn ve been on that High Fat Low Carb diet. But my mother is in town and after taking her to the city zoo, and doing a bunch of walking, I decided to take her to a Thai place. It was the first time eating a carb meal in a month. It was drunken noodles, with tomato, basil, and chicken. Some sites say that as long as it's under 140 im fine. But the internet says crazy things sometimes. I wanna hear from real people.
362249 tn?1441315018 The only addition would be that people on low carb diets normally have their triglycerides within normal ranges; this is one of the most reliable results in selecting a low carb way of eating. Too much fructose in our diet tends to increase blood triglycerides and is a risk factor for heart disease.
Avatar n tn Plus, remember that you are adding a 1/2 c. or more of milk to that cereal and you need to add in the carb count for the milk. If you add fruit, once again you need to figure out the carbs and remember that a portion would be 1/2 of a banana or 1/4 c. of berries. The way most people eat their cereal, they are easily consuming over 100 gms. of carbs in one bowl!!!! The most you should have per meal is 45-60 gms. The low end is for women and the high end number is for men.
Avatar m tn She said to limit my carb intake to 180g per day. So instead of counting calories I count carbs (I also keep track of calories though). I worked out 3 of my 6 days for p90x and still lost 6lbs last week by doing this. So excited because I did p90x for 30days without skipping any days and I was staying in my calorie range, and I only lost 2lbs and I gained a body fat percentage. I was not watching my carbs. Now that I am, I have felt better and am finally dropping pounds. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I found out I had prediabetes about 2 months ago. I was overweight and fairly sedentary. I have lost 8% of my body weight, I exercise without fail every day (bike riding or brisk walking usually). I count my carbs and rarely go over 30 a meal, eat "right"--lots of veggies, whole grains when I use grains, always under my calorie goal. I track my food on a tracking site so I'm not missing anything or guessing. I'm way less stressed than I was a month ago.
