Avatar n tn Around here we have shiritaki (sp) noodles, very low carb instead of spaghetti.
Avatar m tn oh forgot to say that high of 110 is at 1 hr, 2hr is back close to fasting
Avatar m tn That easily solves the situation and pasta is just a simple carb easily replaced. I know it is hard with a 4 year old with mac and cheese and spaghetti as easy kid meals but think of other starches you can give her in its place. You might try an allergist to do some testing to see what the ingredient is in the pasta that causes the issue. Oh, and obviously if you use plain white pasta, try whole wheat.
Avatar m tn You need to be sure you are using the right Insulin Carb ratio for your doses before meals and that you have an accurate carb count. Calorieking.com is a good resource for carb listings in addition to what's on packages (and be sure to correctly measure servings). In order to gain weight you want to increase your protein and fats so that you can gain weight without increasing carbs.
Avatar n tn -) Rice in soups or casseroles-high carb. Pasta-high carb. Potatoes-high carb. Bread-high carb. Regular soda pop and fruit juices-high carb. Sugar is interesting-you can have your sugar and eat it too. If your dr tells you to eat less sugar you need to fire right back at him and say, don't you mean carbs? Do you know of anyone who sits and eats a cup of sugar? No. But I bet we have all eaten a cup of potatoes rice or pasta or bread....

Tbd Spaghetti squash is GREAT if you use 2 table spoons of your favorite spaghetti sauce. 300 calories for pasta, and 10 calories for same amount of the squash. Cook it WELL, and you can hardly tell the difference. Cook it less, and there is a difference, but I like it both ways. Make your own bread and use SPELT flower. It is really good, but kind of expensive. Coconut oil instead of even olive oil is good to.

Avatar m tn So, in February 2014 my A1C was 5.7. In February 2015 it was 5.8. And this past month it is now 6.0. I'm really worried. I have read the dangers of diabetes and want to stop it. I'm only 30 years old. Granted Im a business man in an office all day and work 50-60 hours a week. I don't exercise. But I'm starting to now. At 6.0, can I truly reverse this!? Can I go back to normal numbers within 3 months or so!? My fasting numbers are usually 80.
10203682 tn?1418693754 It's 3:27 am and I'm craving spaghetti.. Anyone else have late night random cravings?

I don't pack him very much. protein, crunchy snack, fruit, carb(macaroni-pasta-) He may eat some of the macoroni but not all. It's an effort to get him to eat breakfast these days.
1273125 tn?1365077526 to use insulin you have to count carbs and inject for the carbs eatin take to much insulin and you go low, not enough insulin you go high. insulin done wrong can do more damage I think insulin done rite more work than eating rite.
Avatar n tn I do eat low carb. However, if you use insulin you need to be, aware that some carb foods digest more quickly than others, which may affect insulin dosing.
Avatar f tn My 8 year old is the most finicky eater I have ever known and its now cause for concern. This has been a battle since she was about 2. She has suffered severe digestive problems because of her diet, and her stomach is distended and she is overly gassy. Her diet consists of pizza, whole grain thin spaghetti, key lime yogurt, re fried bean burritos w/ very little cheese, cucumber slices, apples, bananas, pb&J, and any carb (chip or cookie) she can get a hold of. She refuses meat.
10570408 tn?1412078257 Different diets work for different people. Low-carb doesn't work for everyone. If it doesn't work for you, then you need different kind of diet, maybe a more moderate-carb diet. Try leaving out the sugar, junk food, and grains, but add back in two or three servings a day of healthy but carb-y vegetables, and see what happens.
53833 tn?1234996629 d be stretching. Anyways, looking for suggestions on whether a carb counting or calorie counting diet would work best for him, or something altogether different. He's not fat in the least, just a teenager who doesn't have a long, lanky flat torso like some of his friends. Unfortunately inherited tummy style from Mom & Dad (who in their 40's no longer care that they don't have (or ever had) a six-pack!).
Avatar f tn I just ate half a watermelon and waiting for my chicken pot pie to be finished cooking :)
