Avatar f tn That can be very painful. I had that once after eating Jerusalem Artichokes, and was in great pain, and could hardly move for 24 hours, but was fine the next day.
Avatar f tn Consume high-potassium foods such as fruits (specifically, avocados, apricots, bananas, dates, nectarines, oranges, raisins), vegetables (specifically artichokes, parsnips, spinach, tomatoes, yams), whole grains, molasses, clams, cod, halibut, yogurt, and nuts. Low potassium can lead to problems with your muscles and heart. Too much potassium can lead to irregular heartbeats. Too much magnesium, on the other hand, will give you loose bowels.
Avatar f tn Try artichokes for iron, or better still, egg yolks. Egg yolks are full of good nutrients like iron and are like taking a multivitamin a day. Another good source of iron is iron enriched cereals, it will state on the packaging if it's enriched. Eating foods high in the nutrient you require is a much safer and natural way to absorb it into the body. Our bodies don't always like a pill containing single substances.
Avatar f tn However, the indirect talks were put on hold after Israel announced plans to build 1,600 new houses for Jews in east Jerusalem. The announcement — which came during a visit by Vice President Joe Biden — prompted a major diplomatic row between Israel and the U.S., though Clinton suggested Friday that a way could be found to renew negotiations.
Avatar m tn You need to be sure you are using the right Insulin Carb ratio for your doses before meals and that you have an accurate carb count. Calorieking.com is a good resource for carb listings in addition to what's on packages (and be sure to correctly measure servings). In order to gain weight you want to increase your protein and fats so that you can gain weight without increasing carbs.

Avatar m tn The best food sources with the highest amount of antioxidants are beans, artichokes and berries. Small red beans actually have more antioxidants than blueberries. You could take acai berry extract but it's probably better to get antiox. from natural substances. A lot of other fruit and nuts also have antioxidants such as apples and pecans.

1273125 tn?1365077526 to use insulin you have to count carbs and inject for the carbs eatin take to much insulin and you go low, not enough insulin you go high. insulin done wrong can do more damage I think insulin done rite more work than eating rite.

10570408 tn?1412078257 Different diets work for different people. Low-carb doesn't work for everyone. If it doesn't work for you, then you need different kind of diet, maybe a more moderate-carb diet. Try leaving out the sugar, junk food, and grains, but add back in two or three servings a day of healthy but carb-y vegetables, and see what happens.
694630 tn?1227710675 4. Love Artichokes – A member of the milk thistle family that helps control blood sugar levels, artichokes are known to support liver health. This fibrous, green veggie contains cynarin, which promotes the flow of bile from the liver to the gallbladder. This is very important because if the bile is not transported adequately to the gallbladder, the liver has an increased risk of being damaged. 5.
Avatar n tn We have found the Zone bars, and the bars that are low carbs (they say to count as a lower carb. than on the label.) Have worked better for keeping our daughters blood sugars in line. If you cannot find one that you feel is good for you, call your nutritionist and ask him/her for some suggestions. I hope this is not your last question and that you will visit this forum again.
1290943 tn?1272093764 I am able to eat one slice of good bread for toast. You can also find lower carb breads. Eggs are about the best for the morning as for many of us it is the time we can eat the least carbs. Has she figured out her insulin:carb ratios? Mine are definitely lower in the morning (mine are 1:7, 1:9 and 1:18). Btw this is the Type 2 forum!
Avatar f tn What are you ladies cooking for dinner tonight? I'm having boiled eggs and cheese and crackers and pickles (all my cravings) what about you ladies?
Avatar f tn Eating lower carb is also very helpful for reducing insulin requirements and keeping blood sugars stable and on target. Low carb foods include all meats, high fat unsweetened dairy (in moderation), non-starchy veges. YOu will need to use your meter to work out which foods work best for you. If you want recipes, you could look into paleo, low carb, mediterranean etc.
Avatar f tn I do work out, but I do have some weight to lose. I know all about complex carbs, carb count, protein with meals, and glycemic index and insulin resistance. All I ever see online is pre-diabetes and that's it. Being that this has been going on for a short time, I feel that it may be something else. I am going to the doctor in two weeks, but I'd like to research other possible causes while I wait.
Avatar f tn I have a type 1 diabetic daughter she is 7 yrs old and we count carbs. She gets so many units of insulin for how many carbs she eats plus so many units for how much her numbers are above what the doc wants. That doc sounded like a real jerk. My grandma is a type 2 diabetic as well and has many problems with high numbers and we just found out that she is in begining stages of kidney failure. So its deffinantly important not to give up.

1301089 tn?1290666571 This is something of a misnomer since while some of the settlements are recklessly deep into the West Bank - Ariel (above), for instance - others are indistinguishable parts of Jerusalem. They are all, under international law, illegal. But some, regardless of legality, are going to stay. Even in the Middle East, common sense can play a role. The Jerusalem-area settlements are not going to be abandoned by Israel. The settlements issue is complicated but not unsolvable.
