1290943 tn?1272093764 I am able to eat one slice of good bread for toast. You can also find lower carb breads. Eggs are about the best for the morning as for many of us it is the time we can eat the least carbs. Has she figured out her insulin:carb ratios? Mine are definitely lower in the morning (mine are 1:7, 1:9 and 1:18). Btw this is the Type 2 forum!
Avatar n tn We have found the Zone bars, and the bars that are low carbs (they say to count as a lower carb. than on the label.) Have worked better for keeping our daughters blood sugars in line. If you cannot find one that you feel is good for you, call your nutritionist and ask him/her for some suggestions. I hope this is not your last question and that you will visit this forum again.
636891 tn?1365202536 Eggs with cheese or some sort of vege (onion, leeks, mushroom). I need to eat very low carb for breakfast. Coffee or tea with milk. Sometimes a very small serve of no sugar added unsweetened museli, or a little oatmeal - but I need to add extra insulin to cover those if I do. Am also very much an emotional eater, but fortunately the emotions are usually still sleeping at breakfast time.
Avatar n tn they give me indigestion. I do make low carb breads from time to time (particularly for my children) out of almond flour or coconut flour. There are some great low carb website for lowcarb baking (alldayIdreamaboutfood) is a great one. However, I mostly just stick with basic foods. Breakfast is typically just coffee with cream. Both lunch and dinner will typically be some sort of meat and veges.
Avatar f tn And there is a carb count you should be following for meal and snack times. I got all my information from a registered dietician; I also have my bachelor's in nutrition. I Knew before hand that there was a carb count just couldn't remember the numbers. The suggest for breakfast and snack time to stay between 15 and 30 grams of carbs. Lunch and dinner no more than 45 grams of carbs.
Avatar f tn I think JDRF-VOL-SG's suggestions are very good, and would only add that it is common to have a different carb ratio for breakfast than for other meals. That's not only because of the type of food eaten, but because it is mornings when the liver is the most active with dumping glucose into the body. It's called the Dawn Phenomenon. It sounds like you're figuring things out really well, and I'd just suggest adjusting the breakfast carb ratio to see what happens.
Avatar f tn I usually do at lunch or dinner. I also buy the fruit cups that are sugar free for a "free snack" when I'm craving some fruit. It's my understanding you can subsitute some high fiber grams for carb grams, but I'm unsure how to do the calculations so I don't bother. If you like bread Nature's own has some low cal, low carb whole wheat with fiber, white and honey wheat bread.

8526246 tn?1405601876 For breakfast I get 1 milk, 1 carb, 2 protein, 1 fat. For snack I get 1 fruit (no juice), 1 carb, 1 meat. For lunch I get 1 milk, 3 veggies, 1 fruit, 3 carb, 3 meat, 2 fat. Afternoon snack I get 1 fruit, 1 carb, 1 protein. For dinner I get 3 veggies, 1 fruit, 3 starch, 4 protein, 3 fat. Bedtime snack I get 1 milk, 1 carb, 1 protein. It's a lot of food. I found salads worked well and I combined a lot of my food that way.

To make up for the vitamin loss, take a simple multi vitamin and your body won't miss the fruit. Fill your diet with cheese, eggs, beef, chicken, pork. Salads and greens, you can even use a high fat dressing and bacon bits if you like.
Tbd 1. Low carb, adequate protein, fat for energy balance - otherwise known as ketogenic of low carb diet. In this diet carbs are typically restricted to 30g or less per day. Avatar f tn I've been doing low carb for 3 weeks and I am down 14lbs. I fell off the wagon last week, had an awful stomach bug and just couldn't bear what I would normally have, as soon as I felt well enough I jumped right back on it. Just looking for some motivation, inspiration or even just a natter.
Avatar n tn My problem is weight gain, no matter what I do, I just keep gaining. Every pound is so bad for my blood sugar. Is there a special diet for someone like me who has no thyroid???

Avatar m tn You need to be sure you are using the right Insulin Carb ratio for your doses before meals and that you have an accurate carb count. Calorieking.com is a good resource for carb listings in addition to what's on packages (and be sure to correctly measure servings). In order to gain weight you want to increase your protein and fats so that you can gain weight without increasing carbs.
Avatar f tn I would suggest eating fruits in the moring is very good and refreshing. Eggs are one of the perfect things to eat for breakfast. It is a true fact that eggs will fill you up a lot more than heavy carb breakfast(s).
793305 tn?1493925518 For some people it makes a difference if they eat simple vs complex carbs, for example whole grain breads, brown rice, etc. For some it makes no difference at all, a carb is a carb. For all of us all forms of sugar jack up our blood sugar. The key as to what you can eat is to test, test, test. Try eating a favorite food and test two hours later. You want to be under 140. If you are higher than you can't eat that food or at least that portion of that food.

Avatar m tn I recently got a skin-***** test to test for several food allergies. I was very few positives as I eat whatever I want with no ill effects. Turns out the skin test showed a reaction to cow's milk, chicken, eggs, soy, whole wheat, yeast, and tomatoes. I was shocked, because I eat these foods all the time (especially chicken and eggs, with my new "low carb" lifestyle) and never had anything in the way of a reaction; no abdominal cramps, nausea, gas, etc.
