I have been taking 40mg of omeprozole twice a day for several weeks. I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia on March 30. I am supposed to take this for three months and then drop down to once a day.
Previous to my diagnosis I had taken 20 mg Prilosec OTC first once a day, than twice after my diagnosis, since the prescription was nearly $200.00 for just 2 weeks worth.
I was still having heartburn at night so I finally filed the prescription.
Omeprazole 80 mg/day, which did next to nothing after 18 months, then asked for a stronger pill that I could take 1xD, and the doc prescribed pantoprazole 40mg, and it worked like magic and I saw a huge difference within 2 weeks. Have now been on it for about 6 months and feel better than I have felt in years. Spoke with the doc today about possibly going on a lower dose and eventually just stop.
Can anyone tell me in plain English whether or not I can take Pamprin and Omeprazole together without harming my system?
I have MS and one major problem I have is GERD, hiatal hernia, and gastroparesis. I have finally found relief for the constipation that goes with this. I now take 2 omeprazole a day, 4 domperidone--a motility drug, and a Zantac before bed. I have tried ginger capsules and all kinds of natural supplements, plus tums, etc.
Any suggestions? I have had a bezoar when digestion just stopped, gall bladder out--infection in that.

Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole).These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids.
If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician.

I wonder whether I can just take Sulfasalazine and avoid Naproxen (pain killer) and Omeprazole (acid reducer) if pain is within my endurance level.
I really dont want to upset my stomach by flooding with drugs. By the way, can the disease damage any joints in the later years even though drugs are being taken to control it. What are the percentage of recovery or is there any case of having full recovery.

My liver doctor says that many hepatic patients take them and with my diagnosis I need to stay on medication. I worry because I do not want extra stress on my liver, but also know that I have another health issue that needs medication. Believe me, I have tried every and all non reflux medication options and they do not work for me.

my 14 weeks baby girl weighing 12 pounds spits up at least 3 to 4 times every feed (4 feeds per day) and she burps many times as well and she gets all cranky and fussy while burping or spitting.. She doesn't cry excessively but she just seems annoyed and we need to keep distracting her..

In addition to what LivinginHope said first and then I wanted to add I was on Zantac 150 for about 4 months and I had no side effects at all. I have a benign arrhythmia (PACS) and so it depends on the person and if you take it long term. I have to go back on it again. But my doctor said not to stay on it all the time. Rather, to stay on it for a while then go off and on. But, I would definitely report this to your doc.
It seems that extended use is supposedly not harmful to the body. I take a 20mg tablet daily and I can function fully and eat and drink absolutely anything as long as I have had the capsule. I soon know about it if I forget to take it! That seldom happens I assure you. My question is: I have at least one bowel movement daily - usually after I get up in the morning. My stools are always loose and certainly smell very bad (so my wife assures me!).
