then i got sick with allergies and cold symptoms so my sister took me to carenow where i got doxycycline hyclate 100mg 2x a day for 10 days to clear up my sinus infection. right after i stopped taking the doxycycline i went to the dentist for a bad cavitity on my back tooth and got amoxicillin 500mg 3x a day for 10 days. it is possible that those meds not only cleared up what they were prescribed for but the std as well?
I would randomly feel it when I am sitting around doing nothing. I forgot to mention that I had been drinking that night could this be due to dehydration. I took some anti-inflammatory meds along and a pill of amoxicillin. The burning immediately went a way almost immediately(couple hours), Could this be an Std of some sort. I know it's not smart take meds without being evaluated first.

All the symptoms that your daughter is having are clearly a sign of doxycycline allergy.Doxycycline is not related to amoxicillin and sulfa drugs as it belongs to a different category of drugs(tetracyclines).Side effects of doxycycline are headache, dizziness, blurred vision, body aches, flu symptoms,skin rashes,chest tightness,respiratory difficulty,nausea,vomiting etc.
*Cefuroxime axetil -- Oral alternative that may be effective in amoxicillin and doxycycline failures. Useful in EM rashes co-infected with common skin pathogens. Adults and pregnancy: 1g q12h and adjust. Children: 125 to 500 mg q12h based on weight.
Tetracycline -- Adults only, and not in pregnancy. 500 mg tid to qid
Erythromycin -- Poor response and not recommended.
Azithromycin --
--Adults: 500 to 1200 mg/d.
Friday,I had unprotected oral sex. 2 days later, I had burning sensation during urination and I noticed some milky discharge from my penis. I am married and panicked. So that evening, I took 1000 mg amoxicillin. The next day (Monday) I was tested for several STDs and showed positive for HSV-1 only (no chlamydia or gonorrhea). 2 days later I read that I may have been tested too early.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
Well this was good to read. I have to take amoxicillin also before dental work. I will ask my dentist about this. Yikes I want that SVR.

There are two vets at the clinic, I spoke to one few days ago and he one said that If doxycycline doesn’t help I should think about letting my baby go, since the infection could be kidney related, not bacterial related. They took a sample of my dogs hair to test it and it came out that he has one bacteria present, which I can’t even pronounce.
Friday night out of nowhere I just got attacked with sickness. I thought it was just a cold, but now I can tell it's a sinus infection. I've been taking what cold medicine I know is safe hoping it would help a little, but it doesn't seem to be helping at all. Anyone know of anything I can do to get some relief? I haven't slept well at all the last two nights and I need some rest.
m not medically trained, but I am not sure that amoxicillin is effective in Lyme. Doxycycline is sometimes used, but my Lyme doc didn't use it.
It's never too late to treat Lyme. It's a nasty disease, and going after it early and hard is the right thing to do. And don't forget those possible co-infections.
About a month later I got really sick with sore throat, a Fever, and a stiff neck. I ended up getting diagnosed with acute tonsilitis. I was treated with ceftin for 3 days with iv. And then took ceftin for 10 days more.
I felt good for a little while but got sick again..With joint pain. My doctor tested me for Lyme disease and it was positive. I took doxycycline For 12 Days till I developed a mild rash on my face. My doctor took me off and put me on amoxicillin for 2 more weeks.
This has me in tears at the end of the day. I have a great neuro (as I had a AVM/ruptured aneurysm in 2012) and I can email her with anything. So last night I sent her a small novel asking for help. But I figured in any situation, the best info is always those that are fighting the fight :)
All I know so far about the doxy vs amoxicillin is that I wasn't running the low grade fevers on the doxy. And the amount of pills was way less too, but I couldn't stand the itching!
I have built up a tolerance to Levequin, Zithromyacin, Amoxicillin, after 9 years of COPD and now have bronchitis. Any suggestions for other potential antibiotics or other ideas?
To make a long story short I took 4 days of amoxicillin 3 times a day and doxycycline for one day and we had unprotected sex on the 5th day. His treatment window was several days past the waiting period but my question is do you think I was cleared by day 5 since i only took amoxicillin and not the one day pill they give and I didn't wait the recommended seven days? Please advise.
Thank you for your response! I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that after I took the amoxicillin, I went to a different clinic a few days later and got a urine test done (for chlamydia/gonorrhea). That's why I took the maybe 6 month old amoxicillin. While waiting for the urine test results, the doctor prescribed me doxycycline to take 100mg, every 12 hours for 1 week. I finished it, bur when the urine test result came back, it turned out that negative anyway.
I had no choice since I am not coming home in 2 weeks but to take amoxicillin. I was afraid I had exposure and knowing that health care is hard to get I decided to take full 7 days course. Can you please tell me if amoxicillin would clear any of the stds? In case I contracted any? Also did I start treatment to early 8 hours after the exposure following for 7 days.
I was taking amoxicillin for tooth problem. On the second day I started having full bladder with difficulty to urinate and clear discharge symptoms. The Dr. told me since I was on antibiotic I could'nt take a urine test. He asked me to finish the 7 day amoxicillin and after gave me 1g zithro and cipro for 14 days. On the 14 day I still have a few symptoms. My question is if it was chlamydia - gonorrhea would this have cured it? Please advise..
