Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic quality of life

bystolic

Avatar n tn I too have been on 5mg of bystolic for about a year - within the first month of being on the drug I 'packed' on @10 lbs. I eat a very lo-calorie diet. My cardiologist basically said - put up with the weight or have a stroke (I am a thin-built woman - not overweight/obese by any means - at least at when I started the meds). The weight is centered in the belly region - an area where I never carried weight - oh boy not now!!!
Avatar n tn I had no quality of life...I had to stop taking it...although pain is subsiding it still pains tertible even after 3 weeks of stopping taking it.
5496522 tn?1368819256 Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum (actually, any forum), and I was hoping to get some input from anyone who has suffered from complications post decompression surgery. It all began 2 years ago, when I hit a tree skiing. I suffered a severe concussion, but bounced back pretty quickly from the accident. A few months later, I began having neurological issues that were pretty serious, and after going from one doctor to another, I was diagnosed with Chiari.
2137079 tn?1335983532 I have to say I can sympathize with you as I am experiencing less than great quality of life after only one round of triple tx that was unsuccessful. I'm contemplating doing battle again but not with interferon. The fact that you completed three rounds in five years is a testament to your strength and determination. Sometimes I feel really P.O.'d about everything I have put my mind and body through only to be told I may be suffering from depression?!
768044 tn?1294223436 I had difficulty answering this, as my migraines are getting progressively worse. However, I chose "Not able to work...." as that's the best my migraines get. I then get worse from there.
1217309 tn?1267050177 It does affect the quality of life. Doctors are not very sympathetic, especially if they have never experienced these irregular beats. They just say they are benign. But that doesn't help you to cope. I read a study that said people benefited from Acebutolol. I asked my cardiologist if I could try it and he said that it was an older drug but worth a try. I am on 400mg twice a day and it has been like a miracle.
Avatar m tn I have recently (about 6 weeks) been prescribed the new Betablocker Bystolic at 5mg/day instead of Coreg 6.125mg. Initially it has slightly reduced my heart palpitations which are less forceful, stopped some irregular or PACs and cut out the dreaming side effect of Coreg. However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks.
Avatar n tn Once you stop looking for a diagnosis and embrace management, I am not one for putting on a brave face and fighting to keep life the way it was before pain hit. You can have more control over your life, arranging it to encompass your limits, once you start building your own management plan...and I caution against letting a doctor do it for you, or try to push you to do more than you absolutely WANT to do.
Avatar m tn What are a professional's thoughts on someone in pain with zero quality of life? Is there any advice that I may not have heard that may ease my mind? I have had chronic nerve pain for over 5 years. It affects a very sensitive area of my body which seems to make the pain worse. The pain is vice-like, although I do have shooting pains when I "exercise". The pain seems to make me feel queasy, but I have digestive issues so this may be in my mind. I am 23 years old.
214864 tn?1229715239 t drain the energy out of me. My Cardio doctor took me off of Bystolic because I was having chest pains - not sure if the Bystolic caused the chest pains or if it was caused from stress - I've been under a lot of stress lately. Let me tell you something about Bystolic. It is wonderful! It lowered my blood pressure and it didn't cause any major side effects. I was on Atenonol (sp?) and I had the worse side effects from taking it.
Avatar f tn It is fairly new here in the US it was appoved by the fda in Dec of 07. I just started taking it today so I am not sure of side effects.
Avatar m tn I don't know what others experience but during an A Fib event, my quality of life deteriorates completely. I did read that large doses of Vitamin D can cause arrhythmia so I stopped taking Vitamin D and the events have decreased dramatically in frequency from about 2/week to 1/month and intensity and duration. I was diagnosed with A Fib about 1 year ago but have been having what I thought was tachycardia for years but maybe only 2 times/year.
Avatar m tn Congratulations, taking charge and life style changes can be the major part of the cure if some mechanical (surgery) change isn't needed. I do not know what Bystolic is (a heart rhythm drug?), but if it works, it must be right. Here I recall in fighting a night time nasal congestion condition a nose spray like Afrin works great, but don't use it more that a few nights in a row or it will do damage. Just an example, not a tie to the drug you get good results from.
1189366 tn?1265219887 2 weeks ago the Doctor reduced my meds to 25 mgs of Zoloft and 1/4 of the dose of Bystolic. Within a few days, most of my PAC/PVCs have gone away. Has anyone had this experience? I'm still wondering which drug was doing it.
Avatar f tn Just curious if anyone who is taking bystolic experiences side effects all the time, or if it is a gradual onset after dosing, or what? My side effects always seem to hit me in the late afternoon, early evening. I take my dose anytime between 6am and 7am.
Avatar f tn This works well to control my tachy....but, has bad side effects of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. I lookd up Bystolic..and it has none of these type side effects listed. I was going to ask my doctor to change to Bystolic. Has anyone here had any success in changing over to Bystolic from Metoprolol ?
Avatar n tn s disease, Just was told that my a tsh level of 5.6 I am 44 years old.Female, mother of two, Usally in good health, but feeling lousy for the last several lmonths. Also, has palpatations and I am on Bystolic 5mg. I also have been bleeding for 41'2 months, heavy at times, I am having a hystopingogram with my gyno on Tues. He saw a fibroid, and is further evalutating it, Here is my problem. I have seen two endocrinologists. CurrentlyI am only on Bystolic. One Dr.
Avatar f tn I need some serious help here as I am having significant problems and the doctors don't seem to know what is wrong with me. I started taking Bystolic 5mg in early September of this year due to palpitations and an abnormally high resting heart rate. They can't find any cause with testing.
Avatar m tn I too have constant dizzy spells and am a very low dose of bystolic its so scary
Avatar m tn My doctor gave me 5mg samples of Bystolic for Heart Palpitations. He wants me to take 1 a day before bedtime. He told me that it will slow my heart rate down. Normally I get 1-2 palps daily. Slightly concerned because it can lower your blood pressure to. My blood pressure is normally around 125/80. Doc says my heart is generally in good shape but I do have some "leakage". Mild case of mitral valve prolapse and slightly large aortic valve.
Avatar m tn I also felt bad joint pain and gained a significant amount of weight during the month I was on Bystolic (about 10 to 15 pounds). I researched Bystolic and found that all these symptoms occur in other people who take Bystolic, and so I decided to get off of it (with the permission of the other doctors). I gradually weaned off of the medicine over a period of a little over two weeks. I stopped taking it on June 16.
Avatar n tn Is bystolic a new drug? I haven't heard of it. I'm having trouble again with PVCs. I am on Norpace and have used Toprol. I'm at my wits end. I think my heart rate is too slow when resting. Sometimes I feel dizzy. Geez this is so bad. I hate having to go trough this like most all my life.
