Bystolic for blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic for blood pressure

bystolic

Avatar n tn The Beta Blocker Bystolic is to reduce the high blood pressure and the doctor feels that this alone is not enough so has prescribed the Carvedilol which is also a beta blocker to help reduce the blood pressure and for your problem. You should ask the question to your doctor so that he can explain the reasons for putting you on these medications.
Avatar m tn Normally I get 1-2 palps daily. Slightly concerned because it can lower your blood pressure to. My blood pressure is normally around 125/80. Doc says my heart is generally in good shape but I do have some "leakage". Mild case of mitral valve prolapse and slightly large aortic valve. Have had palps since 2005 but never have been put on medicine for them. Is this drug generally safe to use?
Avatar m tn thanks for responce to both U...wow maybe I'll think twice about it. I see my cardiologist on thurs, the propanolololol LOL is giving me minimal benifits and it makes me tired. I read that beta bolckers that slow the heart too much can increase pvc's and intensity off them. I think its why Atenonol and bisoprolol made them worse. Acebutolol doesnt slow it too much, maybe thats one to try.. I'll go over it with the dr,.
Avatar n tn I recently stopped the flecainide and have had no significant a-fib that I can discern, although some skipped beats. I do continue to take bystolic and azor for high blood pressure. However, since discontinuing the flecanide, I have had what I would describe as a pounding heartbeat (not rapid), dizziness, and consistent blood pressure readings of 140s/50s.
Avatar m tn The dr prescribed me Bystolic for my blood pressure and the tachycardia (fast heartrate around 133 after eating) that I was getting. What Bystolic does is it helps prevent irregular heartbeats by making your heart beat more slowly and with less force which reduces your bloodpressure. Nowadays my blood pressure is under control and I do not get the tachycardia anymore. Since taking Bytolic I was more aware of my "skipping heartbeat" than before.
Avatar n tn that's probably from the Bystolic getting your blood pressure down too low. Did you lose weight recently? Can you check your BP when you feel light-headed? Maybe your doc will reduce your dosage. Also, make sure the light-headedness doesn't result in a fall.
Avatar n tn This is the difference between top and bottom numbers of your blood pressure. The normal range for most people is a pulse pressure (subtract diastolic -- bottom number from systolic -- top number) is 40 to 60. When it is outside that it is called a wide pulse pressure. There are reasons that this can happen and it is used to determine status of your health. Your doctors should be addressing this and starting to do some testing on you. Here is an article about it:https://www.healthline.
Avatar f tn Anyone have an increase in high blood pressure & heart palpitations while taking Buspirone for anxiety? I am 41 & female. I have genetic high blood pressure and take Bystolic for it. I have taken a low dose of Buspirone on and off the past few years. My doctor increased my dose a few months ago (I take 15 mg twice a day) and I feel like sometimes my heart palpitates and night. The palpitations are waking me up some nights. My BP also seems to be spiking on and off the last couple months.
Avatar m tn Mid May to Mid June – Almost immediately after taking the Bystolic, my blood pressure went down and stayed town for the entirety of my taking it (we have a blood pressure checker at home, and it was consistently around 115/70, no matter when I checked it). I did, however, develop some really weird symptoms almost immediately after taking the Bystolic. I would notice that I would feel really light headed and maybe even a little nauseous immediately after taking the Bystolic.
Avatar n tn I am 71 years old. About 10 weeks ago my blood pressure went suddenly up to183/87 and went to ER. Doctors did CT scan, x-rays, blood work and found every thing normal. They just gave me anti anxiety medication and sent me home. Also me contact a cardiologist. The following week I was quite normal and my bp was never more than 130/80. Following week contacted cardiologist as a precaution. He suggested to take Carvidilol 6.25my/Lisinopril 5mg/Simvastatin 25mg/Aspirin81mg.
15256956 tn?1439425231 Aaaaah! I feel like a walking Irwin Allen film. 39 year old Male, overweight with high blood pressure (controlled), sleep apnea and under constant barrage of PVC's and PAC's. I'm 242 lbs. Back in 2010 I had a nuclear stress test as a routine investigation into my heart and it came back abnormal so off to the hospital I went for a Heart Cath. I was very much relieved when the Cardiologist there said my arteries were clean and normal. No heart disease.
Avatar f tn Hello I agree with Remar that your blood pressure readings are very good and are in no way cause for alarm. The normal blood pressure is 120/80 anything in, near or around that is what you want. If your readings start continuously running 160/ to 200/ over something then you need to get it checked because that will be too high and he will need to increase your medication or change you to another one. The systolic pressure is the measurement when your heart is contracting.
Avatar n tn ve been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure). I've also been told by my GP that, if I find myself with a rapid heart rate or back in A-fib, I can take another 2.5mg dose right then, since it's such a small dosage.
343006 tn?1314446471 thanks for you responce : I have high blood pressure and palpations off and on .. reason for verapamil use. did fine on it for years.. but ankle became swollen more and foot , after I had a foot operation done last year. the cardio doctor didnt like ,that my foot was swollen so bad - so he put me on bystolic - after I tryed it sample type at 2.5 mg - I was told it would work fine and wouldnt give me a problem ,not to worry about it ? like I knew ?? well since iv been on it..
214864 tn?1229715239 I took Bystolic for High BP for two years. I developed a blood clot in my leg. A trip to the hospital, removal of the clot and I have a-fib and heart rate dropping to very low number{lower 30's}. Now, the healthy heart I had is damaged from Bystolic. I am told I must have a pacemaker to keep my heart rate above 50 and so they can give me strong drugs to stop the a-fib. I have been to see my doctor very often to complain that I am unable to function because of fatigue.
Avatar m tn I have taken Bystolic for 6 years. It worked really well up until the last year. Have had very few side effects.
Avatar f tn I have found my blood pressure is high for a period of time (weeks) for no apparent reason. Then it goes the other way down below normal. There is no identifiable cause that I know about. I take Lisinopril (ACE inhibitor) twice a day as well as Coreg (beta blocker). You indicate your mother is taking medication once a day? There is a doctor that gives advice wseekly on TV, and he stated he has seen better results when the medication is taken at night before boing to bed.
Avatar n tn Bystolic is a blood pressure drug. I have been on Bystolic for 2 yrs and have never had a problem with sweating. It can be a heart related problem.
Avatar n tn I have had irregular heartbeat and strong pulse feeling intermittent for a long time and it became all the time, mostly feel skipped beats and pressure in middle of chest in addition to what felt like adrenaline surges at the least little stress; have had all tests to check out (your husband should have these tests) and doc feels I am ok but recently prescribed a betablocker bystolic (new) and I've only taken for a week but no more irregular heart beat, no adrenaline surge, some antianxiet
Avatar n tn My doctor put me on Bystolic(10mg) two days ago. My blood pressure was 150/80. Since I started taking this drug, I have had heavy legs, arms and felt light headed. My pulse rate has dropped and I feel like laying down all of the time. I had a sharp pain in my knee this morning but didn't think much about it until reading your comments. I have had the same cold feeling in my feet and hands as well. Thanks for your comments.
343006 tn?1314446471 a cardio doctor recent, put me on 10mg of bystolic and 120mg verapamil daily - for 3 days I was fine-after that became sick throwing up and couldnt sleep at night. doc then said to cutt down to 5mg bystolic and 60mg verap on this doseage after 3 weeks of going threw hell. I got sort of use to it - now though doc changed me to this dose 2.5 mg bystolic & 60mg verap a.m time daily - and 2.5 mg bystolic at night time - ugg !! gets the b.p down ok .
Avatar f tn I was taking the generic form of Toprol (?) for my high blood pressure, 25 mg and it was giving me problems after being on it for over a year. Horrible dreams, head aches/pressure, and pain in the area of my left kidney. The Dr put me on Bystolic, but it was samples and there is no information on side effects. I have started having stomach problems and acid reflux lately. Can the Bystolic be causing this? What would be other good choices?
