Bystolic and blood sugar

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic and blood sugar

bystolic

Avatar m tn Initially it has slightly reduced my heart palpitations which are less forceful, stopped some irregular or PACs and cut out the dreaming side effect of Coreg. However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks. I have also been affected by regular bouts of diarrhea.
Avatar n tn The Beta Blocker Bystolic is to reduce the high blood pressure and the doctor feels that this alone is not enough so has prescribed the Carvedilol which is also a beta blocker to help reduce the blood pressure and for your problem. You should ask the question to your doctor so that he can explain the reasons for putting you on these medications.
Avatar n tn I would certainly see another doctor, preferrably a cardiologist, it seems to me that there should be something that would help. There are many blood pressure pills on the market, and sometimes, even, IV drips of blood pressure meds to get a large dose in the patient to help get the pressure lowered quickly, then, they take the pill version.
Avatar n tn This forum is interesting because actually, it shows me that everyone stands differently each betablocker. I've been for 8 years on BISOPROLOL (Zebeta) for frequent sinus tachycardia (my blood pressure was always fine) and BISOPROLOL handle tachycardia or rapid heartbeat perfectly well.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure was first medicated with losartan, after early morning headcahes were waking me. Years later that symptom returned, and bystolic was added. Things were great for years again. My new symptoms include a widening gap between the upper number and lower number-the lower number has dropped into the 60's and my upper number has risen to 150's to 180's, yet I weigh less now than when I started bystolic.
Avatar f tn Anyone have an increase in high blood pressure & heart palpitations while taking Buspirone for anxiety? I am 41 & female. I have genetic high blood pressure and take Bystolic for it. I have taken a low dose of Buspirone on and off the past few years. My doctor increased my dose a few months ago (I take 15 mg twice a day) and I feel like sometimes my heart palpitates and night. The palpitations are waking me up some nights. My BP also seems to be spiking on and off the last couple months.
Avatar m tn I have been taking bystolic for several years and for me it seems to work much better than atenolol or lopressor, without all the side effects. I have had to up my dosage a couple of times and right at first my stomach will feel a little off and I may get a very slight headache but it goes away quickly.
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar f tn then put me on Bystolic, 5 mg, 1 x daily. I have been on the Bystolic for 3 weeks and the leg pain is back. Have appt with family Dr. tomorrow morning to talk with him again. I believe that it is the beta blocker that causes the pain and am now wondering if all beta blockers would cause it. Has anyone else had leg pain on the atenolol or bystolic? Also, can anyone else tell me of any other type of medicine that helped to lower heart rate other that a beta blocker?
3086858 tn?1340852861 s impossible to give you a specific recommendation without looking at all your test, but in general it is extremely important to specify what type of tachycardia you have to justify a high dose of Bystolic. A high dose of beta blocker (BB) by itself (e.g. Bystolic) can produce extreme fatigue in some patients. If you have sinus tachycardia it should not be treated with BB.
Avatar m tn The dr prescribed me Bystolic for my blood pressure and the tachycardia (fast heartrate around 133 after eating) that I was getting. What Bystolic does is it helps prevent irregular heartbeats by making your heart beat more slowly and with less force which reduces your bloodpressure. Nowadays my blood pressure is under control and I do not get the tachycardia anymore. Since taking Bytolic I was more aware of my "skipping heartbeat" than before.
Avatar n tn that's probably from the Bystolic getting your blood pressure down too low. Did you lose weight recently? Can you check your BP when you feel light-headed? Maybe your doc will reduce your dosage. Also, make sure the light-headedness doesn't result in a fall.
Avatar f tn A insulinoma is a tumor that makes insulin, pushing sugar into cells which encourages more consumption in order to increase blood sugar. Low blood sugar symptoms can result if not enough sugar is in the bloodstream, causing "fight-or-flight" like symptoms of hunger, sweating, and heart racing.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me to Bystolic - and I was given "samples" for a month but no instruction sheet or counter-indications as far as drug interaction. Would there be any problem with the above that I am taking and this drug? Also, I just lost (and want to continue to lose weight) 16 pounds on a diet program and don't want to regain that weight! Does Bystolic cause weight gain?
Avatar n tn Have a read up on cayenne pepper and HBP, they say it equals out blood pressure out, then you just stay on that, google cayennepepper( one wrod) for blood pressure, it will also clean out any plaque from your blood and look after your prostate, and it help your ED, all from one thing, cant be that bad can it. If not why dont goole natural ways to reduce HBP, there lots of infomation there on that. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn LIke other beta blockers, the most common adverse events with Bystolic are headache, fatigue and dizziness. However, the manufacturer states studies have shown that Bystolic was well tolerated, with a low incidence of traditional beta blocker side effects. In addition, Bystolic decreases vascular peripheral resistance, improves left ventricular performance and is not associated with decreases in cardiac output sometimes seen with the initiation of other beta blockers.
Avatar n tn s and my blood pressure has not changed that much. The irregular heart rhythms that I experience seem to be about the same with or without the meds. I would like to find something that could be taken as needed to alleviate irregularities and does not lower heart rate as much as most beta blockers.
Avatar m tn Hey guys, whenever I read about acebutolol in treating pvcs and bystolic, I hear mainly positive things. Is anyone on here on these blockers !!, if so whats your experience. I aked my cardio Dr. about Acebutolol, he said its something he wouldnt usualy prescribe for pvcs because it doesn't slow down the heart and the common belief is a slower heart induced by a beta blocker is supposed to reduce pvcs,, but people claim that this stuff works.
Avatar n tn Bystolic is a blood pressure drug. I have been on Bystolic for 2 yrs and have never had a problem with sweating. It can be a heart related problem.
Avatar m tn I am much older and suffer from Permanent AFib, for which I take drugs to control the ventricle HR and and anticoagulant to reduce stroke risks associated with blood clot formation in the fibrillating atrium. Otherwise I am doing ok, I can function almost up to the average for my age. Keep in mind, even if a medication (and/or ablation) can not stop AFib, one should consider medications to control the heart rate and clot formation. Perhaps one of your medications is causing water retention.
214864 tn?1229715239 When i advised my Cardiologist he had me in a week ago and decided to switch me to Bystolic 10 mg and advised I would probably be bumped up to 20mg. My blood pressure was 130 over 100 and he thinks the Bystolic may work better than the Coreg though Ive been told that Coreg is mostly prescribed for the speedy heart rate I have.
Avatar m tn Mid May to Mid June – Almost immediately after taking the Bystolic, my blood pressure went down and stayed town for the entirety of my taking it (we have a blood pressure checker at home, and it was consistently around 115/70, no matter when I checked it). I did, however, develop some really weird symptoms almost immediately after taking the Bystolic. I would notice that I would feel really light headed and maybe even a little nauseous immediately after taking the Bystolic.
