Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic and wpw

bystolic

Avatar f tn am being treated with small amount of Bystolic. My 40 year old daughter has just been diagnosed with SVT and is going to be having an oblation in a few days. What is the difference between these two? Our symptoms are similar, but hers are far more severe.
Avatar n tn I am a 26 Y/O Male. My normal are as follows: BP-100/70 P- 100 IR (resting ) R-16. These proved not to work. About 2 years ago while working for a fire dept. I had another episode. While I was in full firegear I felt distress. When I entered the building I collapsed. The doctor then told me anxiety. But that I did have an elevated resting heart rate. In Dec. of 2008 I began experiencing frequent palpitations and high heart rates while at rest.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me to Bystolic - and I was given "samples" for a month but no instruction sheet or counter-indications as far as drug interaction. Would there be any problem with the above that I am taking and this drug? Also, I just lost (and want to continue to lose weight) 16 pounds on a diet program and don't want to regain that weight! Does Bystolic cause weight gain?
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar f tn Hi I'm 30 and was dxd with wpw in Jan 08 after being rushed to the hospital with a hr of 314. Very scared.......the docs told me that my best bet was to have ablation so I had a specialist come from Mass General in Boston to perform the ablation. The docs cleared me to return to my normal lifestyle, working out etc. Since then I have had continuous palpitations and just last week was once again rushed to the hospital with hr in the 200's. Now they tell me I have A fib.
701418 tn?1231214894 What is WPW? what other effects does having WPW have on you? Many people seem to have had ablation done and as far as the posts on here, seems like ablation isn't always successful. I believe I needed to treat the hormones before jumping into such a radical procedure. I am just now learning a lot. Good luck on your ablation!
Avatar n tn He had a cardiac ablation 4 months later. He is now 17 and started having issues with his rythm again.. His cardiologist states his wpw is not back , however he believes he has a-fib issues now and that he always had it as an issue with his wpw... How common is this to have both?
Avatar n tn Hello - I'm 30 years old, and I was diagnosed with WPW back in college after a few episodes of rapid heartbeats. I've never taken any medication for the WPW, and I haven't yet had an ablation procedure. I very rarely have symptoms of WPW - my last episode of rapid beats was about five years ago. I recently visited a cardiologist to ask about WPW because my husband and I are thinking about having a baby, and I wasn't sure how pregnancy might affect someone with WPW.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was recently diagnosed with WPW, and have only had symptoms for the past 2 months. I've also had sudden pains in my wrists, elbows, shoulders and legs, and really bad pins and needles in my feet. On the right side more than the left. Not sure if this is related to the WPW at all, but it's only been happening for the past week or so, while I've had almost constant palpitations.
Avatar f tn Is this same as heart failure. If so is that the WPW may have caused the heart failure and if i get the arrythymia treated would this mean the heart failure might resolve?? I am not overweight, do not smoke or drink (much!).
3086858 tn?1340852861 s impossible to give you a specific recommendation without looking at all your test, but in general it is extremely important to specify what type of tachycardia you have to justify a high dose of Bystolic. A high dose of beta blocker (BB) by itself (e.g. Bystolic) can produce extreme fatigue in some patients. If you have sinus tachycardia it should not be treated with BB.
Avatar f tn This works well to control my tachy....but, has bad side effects of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. I lookd up Bystolic..and it has none of these type side effects listed. I was going to ask my doctor to change to Bystolic. Has anyone here had any success in changing over to Bystolic from Metoprolol ?
Avatar m tn I take Bystolic too and I have also noticed a weight gain. I too haven't changed my eating habits. I am beginning to think it's the Bystolic because I usually can lose weight very easily, but I can't lose it now at all no matter what I do. You mentioned your systolic readings, mine do the same thing in the afternoons.
Avatar m tn My Cadiologist Recently prescribed Bystolic 5 Mg tablets I per day . I have since begun having dizzy spells Can they be a side effect from the Bystolic?
Avatar m tn I have been taking bystolic for several years and for me it seems to work much better than atenolol or lopressor, without all the side effects. I have had to up my dosage a couple of times and right at first my stomach will feel a little off and I may get a very slight headache but it goes away quickly.
Avatar n tn My wife took Bystolic and had a stroke the next morning. They put her on Clot buster so she didn't take it for 4 days. She took it and had another stroke.
Avatar f tn I have both of these diseases, Mytral Valvue Prolance and WPW. The problem is that I am having parpitation episodes that bring my heart to 156-170 speed; they are not that frequent. My doctor suggests Catheter Ablation. I am a little nervous and would like to know how one (WPW) can be treated without treating or affecting the other (Mytral Valvue Prolance). Are my palpitation related to the second one as well? I am 34 years old and don't know if I should wait before that operation.
Avatar m tn I have been having a constant chest pounding and pain radiating all over my left and right breast area, all tests done proved negative for heart condition but the pain rather than decreasing, seem to be increasing in intensity. I am on LISINOPRIL-HCTZ 20-25MG and BYSTOLIC for HBP I am also on PRAVASTATIN for Cholesterol. I recently had to stop the Bystolic because my heart rate was low between 45-62.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure was first medicated with losartan, after early morning headcahes were waking me. Years later that symptom returned, and bystolic was added. Things were great for years again. My new symptoms include a widening gap between the upper number and lower number-the lower number has dropped into the 60's and my upper number has risen to 150's to 180's, yet I weigh less now than when I started bystolic.
Avatar f tn then put me on Bystolic, 5 mg, 1 x daily. I have been on the Bystolic for 3 weeks and the leg pain is back. Have appt with family Dr. tomorrow morning to talk with him again. I believe that it is the beta blocker that causes the pain and am now wondering if all beta blockers would cause it. Has anyone else had leg pain on the atenolol or bystolic? Also, can anyone else tell me of any other type of medicine that helped to lower heart rate other that a beta blocker?
Avatar n tn Hi Annbez, I just googled WPW and it's my worst nightmare that something that seems so common like PVCs can actually be something like WPW and cause sudden death. According to wikipedia, "the incidence of WPW syndrome is between 0.9 and 3% of the general population". Do you have experience with someone that has WPW? Why would you think it was WPW or suggest that i ask about it? Back in 2002, I had a stress test done along with echocardio, wore a monitor for 24 hours etc.
Avatar m tn LIke other beta blockers, the most common adverse events with Bystolic are headache, fatigue and dizziness. However, the manufacturer states studies have shown that Bystolic was well tolerated, with a low incidence of traditional beta blocker side effects. In addition, Bystolic decreases vascular peripheral resistance, improves left ventricular performance and is not associated with decreases in cardiac output sometimes seen with the initiation of other beta blockers.
Avatar n tn Particularly since the 10mg Bystolic tablets seemed to be the “sweet spot” in terms of tolerability. And the Bystolic worked very well for my BP. I am a 41 year old male.
