Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic and verapamil

bystolic

343006 tn?1314446471 ve been on boty Verapamil and Bystolic but never together. I went off Verapamil because of the bloating, gas and constipation. Went off the Bystolic cause of the breathing problems it was causing. What is your condition that you need to be on a beta blocker or Calcium channel blocker? I went to anogther Doc who told me verapamil doesn't absorb hence the bloating so he put me on Diltiazem (Cardizem) 24 hour release capsules. Hoping it doesn't cause the intesinal issues.
687614 tn?1244197979 I have taken Toporol with Verapamil without success...Verapamil was phased out and I started just Bystolic. Now they are thinking of Inderal, but it has more of these side effects that Bystolic. My dx just came today... Sino Atrial Node Dysfunction... of which I have started as another post.

Avatar f tn HI,I went back to my cardologist today because of my shortness of breath and chest pain and dizziness,,,he showed me the pictures of my stress test and he explained that the small portion that does not get adequate blood when stressed is not a serious thing,,,,but my heart rate problem,he gave me Verapamil sr to try this time 120 mg i have tried Bystolic and Atenol they made me feel very strange im so afraid this new med will drop my heart rate to much,,,,sometimes at night my heart rate is 86
Avatar m tn I have PVCs in the Left Ventricle Outflow Tract (LVOT) at 16% of total beats. Yesterday the cardiac electrophysiologist told me that 5 years ago, they wouldn't even be treating me, but recent research has found that a high frequency of PVCs above 15% creates a higher risk for congestive heart failure.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me to Bystolic - and I was given "samples" for a month but no instruction sheet or counter-indications as far as drug interaction. Would there be any problem with the above that I am taking and this drug? Also, I just lost (and want to continue to lose weight) 16 pounds on a diet program and don't want to regain that weight! Does Bystolic cause weight gain?
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar n tn I am a 38 year old female with SVT and migraine. I was started on verapamil 120 mg then advised to increase the dose to 240 mg. At 240 mg, I experienced severe palpitations which woke me up at night, caused shortness of breath, and fullness in my neck. When I decreased the dose to 120 mg, the palpitations resolved.
Avatar n tn can i take 2 verapamil 120 er/myl twice daily, if i am out of the verapamil 240 er/myl twice daily
687614 tn?1244197979 I am having trouble with beta blockers (see my post on Bystolic anyone?) I have been on Verapamil since 1996 for the bouts... and it continued not to work anymore. Help, I am afraid, suffering a lot and it seems there is no end. Anyone been through this?
Avatar m tn I have called my doctor numeroud times for the shortness of breath and to see if there is something I can switch to that would not have the same effects with the fatigue and shortness of breath, she assured me that the Bystolic does not exhibit those effects and it could not be the Bystolic doing this to me that the medication has no side effects that I need to be worried about. Yet online all of what I am feeling are stated as side effects of the medication.
Avatar n tn I have been on verapamil for almost 3 years. I started losing (thinning) hair and had small almost bald spots (alopecia) as told to me by my dermatologist. In the last few months I started feeling VERY TIRED and didn't take the Verapamil daily, I was less tired, irritated and my hair is so much thicker now, my hairdresser asked how I did it. I really think that is was the Verapamil, that was the only meds I took on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn I was taking verapamil for my tachycardia, I'm not sure about those side effects but you can definitely google verapamil and it should explain all side effects... I had an allergic reaction to it so I had to stop it... Now I'm on something I can't pronounce or spell, so I would look it up or even talk to your doctor about it and see if there is something else that you can take maybe a calcium channeller vs the beta blocker...
3086858 tn?1340852861 s impossible to give you a specific recommendation without looking at all your test, but in general it is extremely important to specify what type of tachycardia you have to justify a high dose of Bystolic. A high dose of beta blocker (BB) by itself (e.g. Bystolic) can produce extreme fatigue in some patients. If you have sinus tachycardia it should not be treated with BB.
Avatar f tn This works well to control my tachy....but, has bad side effects of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. I lookd up Bystolic..and it has none of these type side effects listed. I was going to ask my doctor to change to Bystolic. Has anyone here had any success in changing over to Bystolic from Metoprolol ?
Avatar m tn I take Bystolic too and I have also noticed a weight gain. I too haven't changed my eating habits. I am beginning to think it's the Bystolic because I usually can lose weight very easily, but I can't lose it now at all no matter what I do. You mentioned your systolic readings, mine do the same thing in the afternoons.
Avatar m tn My Cadiologist Recently prescribed Bystolic 5 Mg tablets I per day . I have since begun having dizzy spells Can they be a side effect from the Bystolic?
Avatar m tn I have been taking bystolic for several years and for me it seems to work much better than atenolol or lopressor, without all the side effects. I have had to up my dosage a couple of times and right at first my stomach will feel a little off and I may get a very slight headache but it goes away quickly.
Avatar n tn My wife took Bystolic and had a stroke the next morning. They put her on Clot buster so she didn't take it for 4 days. She took it and had another stroke.
