Bystolic and the liver

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic and the liver

bystolic

Avatar m tn I started taking Bystolic and the headaches are reduced to 2-3 times a month. I am fairly certain, however, that the Bystolic has caused joint and muscle pain especially in my knees. Is anyone else taking Bystolic experiencing this same side effect?
Avatar n tn Bystolic gave my right shoulder and arm the same crushing pains, muscle weakness...especially at nights. I had no quality of life...I had to stop taking it...although pain is subsiding it still pains tertible even after 3 weeks of stopping taking it.
Avatar f tn Would there be any problem with the above that I am taking and this drug? Also, I just lost (and want to continue to lose weight) 16 pounds on a diet program and don't want to regain that weight! Does Bystolic cause weight gain?
Avatar m tn peggy. I had great succes with the PAC's with Bystolic. They were reduced to just a little "gas" in the chest. Very good for that purpose.
Avatar n tn I too have been on 5mg of bystolic for about a year - within the first month of being on the drug I 'packed' on @10 lbs. I eat a very lo-calorie diet. My cardiologist basically said - put up with the weight or have a stroke (I am a thin-built woman - not overweight/obese by any means - at least at when I started the meds). The weight is centered in the belly region - an area where I never carried weight - oh boy not now!!!
116881 tn?1189755823 My Dr just took me off of Hyzaar and has put me on 5 mgs of Bystolic per day to control skipped beats and my HBP. Well, the skips are much better but my pressure is still up and my pulse is really low for me -- like in the mid 50's!!! I feel like garbage. I have only been on it for a week. My Dr wants me to stick it out a little longer. So her I am needing take one today for my BP but my pulse is sooooo low. ANyone else on Bystolic? Will this get better?
Avatar n tn Then I just got a 2nd opinion and this dr said to quit Atenolol,Isosobide and Ranexa and start Azor and Bystolic and he wants me to have a Cardiolite stress test. I really do not see an improvement with Azor and Bystolic-I think I have just as much angina maybe more on these 2 drugs. My question is what will stress test show that the heart cath didn't show?
Avatar n tn For two days I was out ot the bystolic and felt great. I have a loss of desire to things around the house and have gained about 10 lbs with an increase of exercise and watching what I eat. I also have vivid dreams, good and bad. Heart rate dropped. Cholesterol went up which I never had a problem with that, I'm sleepy all the time. Plus side, this drug is like Viagra. Don't Luke the overall effects want to try something else.
Avatar f tn ve been prescribed the lowest dose (the blue pill), and have had no side effects. This is the first BP medication I have ever taken that did not give me a ton of evil side effects. I think it's pretty sweet!
3086858 tn?1340852861 I was put on Bystolic 10mg for the tachycardia, which I take daily. I was also put on an aspirin regimen, for the blood clotting. My doctor gave me two breathing treatments due to my severe wheezing at my appt. in which he discovered my asthma. He also had me on an Advair diskus for one week and an inhaler. I am still on a Levalbuterol oral inhaler. I was also getting facial hives, but they did not itch, I did not mention that to my doctor and from my reading I wonder if I should have.
Avatar f tn This works well to control my tachy....but, has bad side effects of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. I lookd up Bystolic..and it has none of these type side effects listed. I was going to ask my doctor to change to Bystolic. Has anyone here had any success in changing over to Bystolic from Metoprolol ?
Avatar m tn Initially it has slightly reduced my heart palpitations which are less forceful, stopped some irregular or PACs and cut out the dreaming side effect of Coreg. However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks. I have also been affected by regular bouts of diarrhea.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Bystolic also 10 mgs 1 a day. I had to stop taking it because my dizzy spells got worse, I had been on it two months.
Avatar n tn I also took Bystolic at the 2 and 1/2 mg level a few days and then quit slowly because my bp was too low on it and I felt dizzy.
Avatar m tn I have been having a constant chest pounding and pain radiating all over my left and right breast area, all tests done proved negative for heart condition but the pain rather than decreasing, seem to be increasing in intensity. I am on LISINOPRIL-HCTZ 20-25MG and BYSTOLIC for HBP I am also on PRAVASTATIN for Cholesterol. I recently had to stop the Bystolic because my heart rate was low between 45-62.
Avatar f tn then put me on Bystolic, 5 mg, 1 x daily. I have been on the Bystolic for 3 weeks and the leg pain is back. Have appt with family Dr. tomorrow morning to talk with him again. I believe that it is the beta blocker that causes the pain and am now wondering if all beta blockers would cause it. Has anyone else had leg pain on the atenolol or bystolic? Also, can anyone else tell me of any other type of medicine that helped to lower heart rate other that a beta blocker?
Avatar m tn LIke other beta blockers, the most common adverse events with Bystolic are headache, fatigue and dizziness. However, the manufacturer states studies have shown that Bystolic was well tolerated, with a low incidence of traditional beta blocker side effects. In addition, Bystolic decreases vascular peripheral resistance, improves left ventricular performance and is not associated with decreases in cardiac output sometimes seen with the initiation of other beta blockers.
Avatar n tn With blood pressure medication it is a bit of a trial and error to get the right one and about getting the right dosage that stabilises the pressure and helps.
Avatar f tn I was also taking Dulera for asthma which I could not tell if it was the bystolic or the dulera giving me the problem. I have stopped both meds and have an appointment with a cardiologist next week. I have always had problems with every class of bp med...I did notice though that the bystolic was giving me a calm feeling and it did drop my blood pressure about 30-40 points....any input on what I should do...
Avatar m tn t slow down the heart and the common belief is a slower heart induced by a beta blocker is supposed to reduce pvcs,, but people claim that this stuff works. I never asked him about bystolic but I know both are selective. Im on propanolol 10 mgs 1 to 3 times a day maximum 90mgs but only take 60mgs and on inderal la 60 mgs.. I feel too tired on this junk I know its because it also goes to the head but so far its the only meds that have helped somewhat.
Avatar n tn I have been taking it for a year now and lately have been feeling light headed and slightly dizzy in the mornings when I wake up and then throughout the day. Is this a side effect of this drug? It was prescribed mainly for the rapid heart beats.
Avatar n tn If you are concerned that something is wrong and you or a person you are caring for is sweating abnormally and has a heart condition, then call 911 and get them to the ER. Keep us informed.
Avatar f tn In 2003 I had an ICD placed b/c of family history and a very long QT interval. I have had it since then and it has not recorded any episode or delivered any appropriate therapy. When it was placed, it perforated my heart, and had to be replaced 2 days later. In 2005, the battery was recalled, and it was replaced again. A month ago, it delivered an inappropriate shock b/c the lead is fractured somewhere. It is now turned off. I was placed on a beta-blocker.
Avatar m tn The dr prescribed me Bystolic for my blood pressure and the tachycardia (fast heartrate around 133 after eating) that I was getting. What Bystolic does is it helps prevent irregular heartbeats by making your heart beat more slowly and with less force which reduces your bloodpressure. Nowadays my blood pressure is under control and I do not get the tachycardia anymore. Since taking Bytolic I was more aware of my "skipping heartbeat" than before.
Avatar f tn s very frequenty ARE used as a front line treatment of hypertension, depending on the TYPE and severity of the HTN, along with the consideration of medical history and other meds. Everyone is different, so what would be advised for one pt could be totally contraindicated in another. Generally speaking though, in this class of meds, if it were ME, I would try others first. I've been on Inderal and Corgard in the past (seperately) for MVP and was very pleased with both meds.
