Byetta for non diabetics

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta for non diabetics

byetta

Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
489891 tn?1209058786 My question is y are you taking byetta and actos+met... and I'm on topamx, but for seizures... I'm also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. How many shots of byetta are you taking a day a long with the actos plus met? and what dose of actos are you taking and why...
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar m tn Thank you for your reply, I'm aware of Symlin and Byetta, but neither My Dr. and what information I can gather on the web works as well as Victoza. I understand Byetta is coming out with a medication that lasts much longer but it uses a larger needle and is truly an injection. Don't understand why these drug companies in the US price their product out of reach of most....
Avatar m tn ve developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day. But I really like Byetta, love the help it gives me with my sugar levels, and don't want to give it up. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Not a pill, but you may want to discuss Byetta with your MD. It is an injection with the tiniest needle you will ever see, taken 30-60 min prior to breakfast and dinner. It helps with blood sugar and takes away your appetite by making you feel full. There are also two newer products. Good luck.
178107 tn?1315947630 I also take the Byetta now. My doc started me on it in March and I too immediately began to lose weight. It also began to regulate my blood sugars, if fact one day my level was so low that the doc reduced one of my meds from 2 pills twice a day to 1 pill twice a day. I must admit though that when I initially started I had to force myself to eat, whereas I was overeating before. I have not experienced the nausea which many say comes with this med.
Avatar n tn I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
Avatar f tn i have 15 byetta prefilled pens 10mg for sale as i no longer need them maybe their some one what them and they are all store in cooler/fridge.
Avatar m tn First of all - many people who post questions have questionable spelling. Don't take that too personal. Second, absolutely 170 is too high. Blood levels should be between 70 & 120 for Diabetics. Get a new Doctor if you can. Another thought, 1 Glipizide may simply not be enough. When I was first diagnosed as Diabetic, 2 Glipizide was the very first med I was given. It was not until I kept eating **** that I got the scrip for the Metformin.
Avatar n tn Hello =) I'm 34 years old and am about to begin my first cycle with the ovulation drug clomid. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have PCOS, and I have PSVT. I take Byetta, metformin, and metoprolol. I have been working with my Dr. for about 18 months to loose weight (I've lost over 60 lbs), get my blood sugar under control (my last 2 AICs were normal), and get medically ready to have a child. Last week he told us he feels comfortable with my heath for my husband and I to try to get pregnant.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
Avatar f tn My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
Avatar m tn Non diabetics pancreas will immediately fluctuate to keep stasis within the body. Most non-diabetics will not get close to 120. The highest I have seen a non-diabetics blood sugar raise (after eating a ton of processed sugar) was 102. When you are not diabetic your body automatically adapts to the changes in nutrients in order to keep your organs working properly.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar n tn I didn't respond to your question. I don't know anything about Byetta.
Avatar f tn Jogging is tuff on feet. ankles, knees, hips. But not any worse than non diabetics. provided you have good BG control and no neropathy.
Avatar n tn my doc says Byetta is safer for liver people.
Avatar m tn 1 matching control group was used to identify independent factors of advanced fibrosis and treatment failure. Results Compared to HCV non-diabetics, HCV diabetics were more likely to have steatosis (P < 0.0001) and advanced fibrosis (P = 0.003). Patients' age, Caucasian ethnicity, obesity, and histologic activity index were independently associated with advanced fibrosis (P < 0.05). Only 23% of HCV diabetics achieved SVR compared to 46% of HCV non-diabetics (P = 0.003).
Avatar n tn One more comment to help you, for I realized that I did not offer any suggestions to you in my last comment, but only told you that I believe your premise is incorrect (that diabetics have different urine composition than non-diabetics) if you are assuming that this is true of controlled diabetics as well as uncontrolled diabetics. I apologize for not offering some practical research suggestions here. You might try continuing to do web research using www.alltheweb.
Avatar n tn Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
Avatar f tn For non-diabetics, normal is below 100. Prediabetics is 100 to 126 and diabetics is 126 and above. Sometimes lack of sleep and stress can cause a temporary rise in the fasting level.
Avatar f tn Diabetics with excellent sugar control still have gastroparesis as well as non diabetics. Autonomic neuropathy is usually a one way street.
475740 tn?1208262865 Ask about getting Byetta. I had the same problem with metformin. The byetta has controlled my blood sugars and my pcos.
Avatar f tn Fatty Liver Disease occurs more frequently in diabetics than it does in non diabetics.. However, I would recommend speaking with your doctor about your concerns. One of your medications, solosamet, should be used with caution in the presence of liver disease. Review your medications with your doctor and mention your concerns. I hope that this helps.
Avatar n tn Although some studies tend to indicate that some type 1 diabetics do not release these emergency sugars quite as well as non-diabetics, there is still a store of emergency sugars to help. Unfortunately, one of the things that alcohol does is preventing this release of emergency sugars. If you do some research on this subject you will find that many doctors suggest that diabetics either don't drink alcohol at all or limit the intake to 1 drink.
Avatar n tn Major operations obviously cause a lot of stress on the body, and that will cause your blood sugars to rise. It even does that with non-diabetics, and when hospitalized even non-diabetics sometimes get dosed insulin to lower blood sugars. Heart operations are no problems for diabetics, but just be aware that your blood sugars will go up a lot.
