Why is it that taking oral antibiotics (leviquin, biaxin and now Z pack) seem to give me spells of palpitations--rapid/pounding heart beat? This is listed as a side effect, but I'd like to know if there's a chemical explanation. I am a 49 year-old female runner w/ normal resting hr of about 50-55. I have a history of PAC's and PVC's but nothing serious.
I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia two weeks ago. I was given Z Pack. I took it. It seemed to work for a couple of days then the symptoms returned. Doctor gave me another Z Pack. Same thing. It worked for a couple of days and then the mychoplasma returned.
Question 1: Why did Z pack not get rid of it?
Question 2: I'm on Doxycycline now. Will that get rid of it?
I'm terrified to even get out of bed for fear that I will relapse again. I want my life back. Please help.
It began with trouble breathing in November and I was diagnosed with bronchitics and given a Z-Pack. The symptoms lessend but never went away. I went back to the doctor in January and had a positive blood test for walking pneumonia. I also had a chest x-ray and the doctor didn't see anything concerning. I did another round of antibiotics and my symptoms disappeared.
2 inhalers we thought I was fine but I have been really sick for a week now and went to the ER today because I was dehydrated and thought my kids had given me the flu, turns out I have pneumonia.
t get my period till Saturday and when I did get it, it only lasted about a day (almost half a day), but I did get it. I looked online to see if high stress, change, and antibiotics could affect it. In the last couple months my period has gotten shorter by a day or so, but nothing unusual. I never miss my birth control, I always take it that day and around the same time as long as I can (I never miss it, I just take it 5 hours later that usual). zithromycin (z-pack) I DON'T think is known to affect birth control but I'm not 100% on it. I know it has a warning on the indications but all birth controls do...but I've always heard that it was the cillins you had to worry about.
Mirena does have the hormones so there may be a slim possibility that it affected it, but have you tested? if you got pregnant during the time you took the antibiotics it would def.
I am 34 weeks pregnant and am very concerned about all these antibiotics (about 4) i took during my pregnancy, 3 were zithromycin z pack and one was metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis in my third trimester. Absolutely. Start a regimen of probiotics asap. Yogurt is good but make sure it has live organisms and buy a good probiotic at the health food store. You'll need an insulated bag with ice packs to get it home alive. Also topically you can apply a good jojoba lotion or buy the jock itch ointment from the drug store. Hope your "candida" clears up.
Was prescribed a Z Pack taken in the 500mg first day followed by one 250 a day for respritory issue. NO change in penial symptoms. Along Ive had diarhhea for four months since this began. Never any discharge except a miniscule amount of clear one time. After a while the penile symptoms subcided. Went to doctor for the urine and diarrhea. He ran stool and urine sample which were ok. My question:
1 is are these typical urethritis symptoms?
