My period comes like clockwork the second week of the month between Wednesday and Friday. Instead of my period I have had very slight brown discharge. I am on birth control and my boyfriend and I use condoms 100% of the time. I have read a lot about implantation bleeding...but I am not trying to get pregnant and have taken every precaution to avoid that. Could I be pregnant or is there something else this could be?

A brown discharge is usually a blood discharge. If the bleeding is quite slight then it takes longer to reach the outside world and turns from red or black to brown in the process. Such bleeding can be caused by all kinds of things - most commonly infections and erosions (these are raw patches on the cervix). There are many other possibilities and the only way to find out what is causing it is to go and see your GP and get examined or referred to a gynecologist for examination.

Yes, I agree. Brown 'discharge' is old blood and most women have this from time to time. It's very common and not something serious. If you are sexually active, you may want to take a pregnancy test to rule that out but otherwise, your period is probably just late as it is from time to time for women. I would not worry at this point.
