1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar m tn The nose end of the vehicle landed on her right lower leg, crushing the Tibia and Fracturing the Fibula. She was Med-Flighted the 40+ miles to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children in Alabama. I would have preferred that she had been flown to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama but she was losing a lot of blood, so good thinking on behalf of the Med Flight Crew. Anyway, she spent 8 hours in the Pediatric Trauma/ER before seeing a surgeon...
Avatar n tn Go to the ER and have an Xray. Proper treatment is necessary to hasten recovery, and more importantly, to prevent complications and loss of function in the future.
Avatar f tn The entire left side of his body became paralyzed. After stroke rehabiliation, and lots of after treatment, he has made some progress. He is still unable to move the entire left arm and fingers, and his left leg. His personality has changed, although he appears to have recovered about 90% of his previous cognitive ability. Depression after the stroke has been severe. Does anyone know of treatment that might help my son reecover the use of the paralyzed limbs? He is only 31 yrs.

Avatar f tn (let me apologize in advance if this msg is jumbled, confusing, and my grammar is poor... some of my family members think the TV should be loud enough so the people in the house beside us can hear it) Hi everyone. I'm new to the website but thought it may be a great place to ask my question. Okay, so here's the situation. 8 years ago while crossing the street I was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver.

Avatar m tn t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.
Avatar f tn Given the choice of a surgery called Carticel — which is a ton of recovery and Microfracture. Not looking forward to the recovery for microfracture, BUT the other is not much better as far as recovery issues. Thank you for your diagnosis. Just wanted you to know how close you were.
Avatar m tn I have read several posters mention a 6 month to 1 year recovery time in order to be completely recovered from low Vitamin D. History: In January 2014, I was found to have Vitamin D level of 21.5 NG/ML. After I found this out, I researched my old blood tests and found that I had only been tested once before for Vitamin D. Five years ago, in July 2009, I had a Vit D level of 37 NG/ML ( which I know now was low normal).
Avatar m tn After 15 days they gave discharge to us from hospital. After 45 days she can move her left leg not proper but she can pull it but not push but still not movement in left hand and left back side also. I just want to know how much time to get recover and she can be normal in future means she can do her daily work herself like walking, eating, bathing, etc?
1491755 tn?1333201362 If 90% of the 500 people had cirrhosis than is really any wonder that it took up to two years to start feeling better? It's like having a broken leg, getting the cast off and expecting to run a marathon, or even 2 miles - it's just not going to happen right away. Or, at least thinking so makes me feel better about this report. I'd still like to confirm that they meant cirrhosis and not fibrosis.
Avatar n tn The standard response is that the brain cells that were just knocked unconscious usually come back in six months. The recovery of functions that were controlled by the now dead brain cells will require your brain to work on neuroplasticity, basically moving control to another part of your brain. That change can take a long time, I have heard of cases 15-20 years after a stroke and recovery can still take place.

Avatar f tn The usual period for healing is around 6-8 weeks, but lower leg fractures take a little more to recover. The initial one week period is also taken into account. Follow up is advised every two weeks to see whether alignment is proper or not. In case of misalignment found at any point of treatment surgery might be necessary. Hope this information was helpful. Best.
Avatar f tn MRI, 2 ultrasounds to detect blood clots, film x-rays to see if all is in place and if foot could be broken, blood test to rule out gout. He has had 2 rounds of steroids and takes percocet round the clock. So far all tests are neg. but he continues to have numbness with severe shooting pains. He describes it as a never-ending charlie horse and feeling as though the ball of his foot has a razor in it. This portion of his leg is so sensitive to the touch he can barely put on a shoe or sock.
Avatar m tn My 6 yr old female cat jumped from a tree branch about 5 ft high. She is always jumping up onto ledges or down from them, she jumps very high, always climbing trees, etc. Anyway, her front paw is now swollen and she will not walk on it, she limps all around. She does not seem to be in pain, she still goes up and down the steps and jumps on and off the furniture and beds, going to the food dish etc.

Avatar f tn My son who is 38 had a stroke on Sept. 25, 2009. His left leg and left arm is paralyzed. He has been in two different sub-acute rehab facilities since Dec. 2009. The most recent one he has been there since Feb 10, 2010 but they only started the physical therapy on about Mar 7, 2010. The physical therapists and doctors are now telling me he probably won't get any better and we should be getting ready to take him home.

Avatar n tn I was given the choice to do a cast or metal rod with pins through my leg for a speedy recovery in witch i choose. It was put through the lower part of my leg down to my ankle Big mistake! I can't even walk a mile without my leg killing me. Hurts from my Knee down to where there is a small bump (feels like bone) on top of my ankle. I need to know if the rod and pins can be removed? If so how fast is the recovery and will the pain go away?
