1709813 tn?1309595050 If not, maybe you could release him to a dog shelter, where they could give him the proper care. Please do something, he is suffering and will not improve without help.
Avatar n tn t have the money to care for an animal, perhaps you should not own one. Like I said, the dog needs to see a Vet.
Avatar m tn t vaccinate his dog regularly. If there was blood and the dog got saliva in the blood in your leg (if the skin was broken) you are at risk. But, you can call the police and have them make the guy monitor the dog for 10 days for symptoms and call the animal control about it. They will tell him the symptoms to look for in the dog. If the dog has no symptoms you will be ok. but then by the time you develop symptoms it is too late (there is no treatment at this stage).
1340010 tn?1281960420 No because she just got knocked apparently.. and she has medicine that i have to give her yes. and i have to clean her leg twice a day.but she will be ok. she has a bandage on her leg.
Avatar f tn Last night we opened our backdoor to find a stray kitty (adolescent male). I noticed he was malnourished and gave him some milk and chicken (all I had for an animal). Then I noticed he was favoring one leg. I think it might be broken! I've called a few places and no one wants to deal with him, of course. They're just going to want to euthanize him instead of help him. So my question is this--- what do I do?!?!?!?!
Avatar n tn Is he holding the leg up or is he actually dragging the leg? Here's what to do: Stand him up on all four legs...Turn the bad foot under where he's standing on top of the paw....See if he can flip it back to the correct position.....If not: Read further..... This sounds like a disk injury to me......Google IVDD (Intervertabral Disk Disease) and read about it...
774189 tn?1235410421 MY DOG ATTACKED MY CAT TODAY AND MY CAT IS LIMPING BUT SHE STILL WALKS ON HER LEG AND WAS CLEANING HERSELF DO YOU THINK SHES GONNA BE OK?
Avatar f tn My own dog took this after a broken leg and it did her so much good. In damp weather she had started to favour that leg a little sometimes. As soon as she took the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement, it took about one week to see a great improvement. After that, she had no more trouble with that leg. She weighed 30lbs, and the correct maximum dosage for her was 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin once daily.
1323336 tn?1274712771 I think I will just out wait Sasha, I think she will stop digging when she gets a bit older. I HOPE. She has a broken leg and I thought that with her back leg broken she would not dig. No such luck. Once again thank you.
Avatar m tn Massage will definitely help him. And I have not known a dog yet who didn't love a massage. All I know about Glucosamine is from personal experience with my own dog years ago. She'd had a broken leg some time before, and was starting to favour that leg sometimes, especially in damp weather. The vet said we could expect that she might develop arthritis in it. I started her on Glucosamine/Chondroitin (500/200mg respectively, daily as she was approx.
Avatar m tn She used to limp very slightly on a back leg which was once broken when she was younger. The vet said she would probably grow to develop arthritis in that leg, and it did seem things might be going that way, as any change in the weather to dampness, had her 'hitching' up that leg sometimes. Since starting the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement, she has not even done that once! My dog weighs 28lbs and the maximum dose for her is 500mg Glucosamine and 200mg Chondroitin.
20790334 tn?1506852360 I was recently in China. When I walked yesterday, I hit a stray dog beside the lower leg. After returning home for a few minutes, I lowered my head and took a sip of my pants. Then I took off my pants and looked at where I was hit. One place is peeled off. I use my nails to peel the skin. It may be rabies now. Should I be vaccinated? PS. When I hit the stray dog, I just thought it hit me, I don't think he bit me .(Because I didn't feel the dog bite me.
Avatar m tn My dog has allergy and now she developed a black/dark brown thick and rough crust just superficially attached to the skin. It's about 2cm diametre on the leg near the armpit. It is broken on the side and when I try to open slightly, is easy to see that will hurt/bleed. Does anybody could give me some advice?

Avatar f tn Can you determine that the leg isn't broken? Will he let you move the leg at the hip joint? If he isn't acting like he is in severe pain, will eat and drink. I would try keeping him quiet and only take him out to potty. You know your dog best so you would have to make a judgement call as to if he needs the Vet.
Avatar f tn A few of you asked to be updated on the kitty cat I found (or I should, "Who found us!"). We just got back from the vet. He got vaccinated, medication for an infection in his ears, de-wormer stuff, and x-rays. The x-rays showed a BB pellet lodged in the cat's chest, but that isn't something we have to worry about. But I was absolutely livid inside when the vet told me.
Avatar m tn My dog Bella had an abscess removed from her shoulder on Friday, with a penrose drain placed on her leg. The vet told me to flush the drain twice a day with diluted peroxide, however I'm reading online that peroxide is a bad idea. The vet is closed since it is Sunday so I cannot call her until tomorrow. Any suggestions on how I should be caring for the drain until it's removed on Wednesday?
1391531 tn?1289164143 So she became our responsibility i knew she had to find a home we have 3 dogs and foster all the time we could have up 10 dogs at are house at a time, so day by day she has been with now she is 7 months old and she grew on me i bonded with her like no other she is a precious girl my bound with my dog Rowan is strong i never thought another dog could get my heart like that but she did.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
675347 tn?1365460645 I can give her a 500mg tablet then, as she is 28lbs. She had a broken back leg about 6 -7 years ago (before she came to live with me) and occasionally it 'twinges' her. Today it did that -she was not as keen to chase the frisbee as she usually is!- and I gave her a homoeopathic remedy Rhus Tox, which seemed to work miracles. I had to run an errand at 2pm, and when I came back at 3.30 the leg didn't seem to be bothering her.
Avatar m tn When we adopt a puppy or a dog, and bring it into our lives, we are responsible for its proper care and feeding for as long as the dog is in our care. Do you know that if your animal is severely ill or injured, and you do not provide proper veterinary care, that you are guilty of animal cruelty and/or neglect? And you could be prosecuted, fined, and lose the animal? I certainly understand about limited finances. So do most veterinarians.
Avatar f tn I rescued a little Chihuahua and named him Gunshot Sam. He had a broken front leg from a 22 gunshot wound. The vet splinted the leg. It was almost 5 weeks when I took him back to the vet because he had chewed his bandages and I thought they would re-wrap the leg. But, when they brought him out, they had removed the splint and had an E collar on him instead. I brought him home. He was on the floor in my living room eating some food.
Avatar f tn My dog Charlie is about four or five years old and we're unsure of his breeding because he's a rescue dog. He is a medium size dog, about the size of a collie but shorter in the leg. Over a period of several weeks I've noticed a change in his mobility, particularly when ascending the stairs, getting up from a resting position, and sitting down. His right back leg appears quite stiff after resting and when he gets up he has to stretch it out behind him before setting off.

436837 tn?1293793226 I know for a fact it has with my dog. She had a broken leg years ago (in her past life before I rescued her) Since then she has limped, and 'hitched' that leg from time to time, especially when the weather turned damp and cold. I started her with the supplement a few months ago in the Spring. I have not looked back! For testimony, she is leaping over hurdles 3-4 feet tall! She did that same thing today, chasing a flying bird! She took my breath away!
