I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone.
He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.

They told me 6 weeks to heal before i get cast off, but i was in a splint style cast for the first week, does that count as one week? and also should nt have the doctor have asked me to come in for check up x-rays just to make sure the bone is healing properly? i live in a small community was treated by a regular doctor a i think.Do u think ill need an aircast after i get regular cast off or is that just optional?
I think it is too early to remove the cast in your case. May be you can ask your doctor about plastic cast walker, which is much lighter and allows you to walk to some extent.
Once full fracture healing is confirmed by the doctor, rehabilitation can continue with a physiotherapist. Hydrotherapy exercises are very helpful in regaining ankle range of movement.

ll need to go in a cast for 6 more weeks. That means before I can walk it will be 9 weeks from the injury date. All for a broken fibula and sprained deltoid ligament. I think the doctor is being extremely conservative, I need to be weight bearing to get back to work. Does this seem like a rather stiff sentence? Shouldn't it be 6 weeks from the injury date assuming normal healing occurs on the bone?
t been able to find someone who is willing to put a cast on it. She went to a emergent care center and they put it in a splint. They do not put casts on at this place but they recommended a place for her. Since she has no money for the cast, no one's been willing to help.including the place they referred her to. They are wanting about 900 to 1200 dollars to put a cast on. We think we found someone to do the procedure but it will be later on this week.
I know that this will reach you a bit on the late side, but here I go anyway. Yes, ice the are the best you can and seek medical attention right away. The fact that her arm is swelling so the cast is quite tight is not a good thing, and may lead to further tissue damage that you cannot see. Hope you've gotten this taken care of before you get this. She jumped off of a chair and broke her front leg. The vet said the cast would be enough and the surgery is not required. However the x-ray shows that the bones are not aligned perfectly. I understand that he is a professional but I have already had experience with some incompetent vets and cannot rule out this one to be another example. I will probably get an advise from another vet but also want to hear your opinions. Has anyone had the same kind of problem? Here are the x-ray shots.
Normally 6 to 8 weeks. Was it specifically the calcaneous that was fractured? And as Dr. Vinod (he's good) said get a proper clinical examination, follow ups are very important when it comes to proper post fracture care. If you were put into a walking cast compliance is of utmost importance for proper healing!
I have broken my ankle 3 weeks ago and now I can feel the bones cracking and popping around my ankle, I was placed in a cast 3 weeks ago and I am still in the cast and I can not walk . I am really confused as to why my bones feel like they are popping..... The pain as subsided but I just have this weird thing going on, the consultant said I will have to have this cast on for another 4 weeks, stressed out as I have 4 kids to take care of and I can't walk!
I broke three fingers on my right. Ihave three pins in my little finger, three pins in my ring finger, my middle finger is also broken but didn't require pins. They are all broken in the first bone right above the knuckle.I am very concerned about the mobility of my hand after the pins come out. Next week is my surgery to have them removed.
Two days ago I fell down my stairs.The top of my foot and both sides of my ankle are swollen and bruised.
Yesterday I needed crutches to get around. Today I can limp around, however, it still hurts like crazy. I don't have any medical insurance. How can I tell if it's broken or sprained. I don't have or want to spend the money to see a doctor only to get sent home with a sprained foot/ankle. Please help. I have a 2 yr old that doesnt sit down for anything. I need this to go away.
And the hellish anxiety I completely understand. It felt like I wanted to jump out of my skin and take off running and screaming. Fortunately it started to get better, and after the ativan was gone I just dropped it and didn't think about asking for more. Now, I'm not in a long leg cast and can't imagine what it must be like. I do have a broken left knee cap and cracked tibia from a work injury last June. Fell off a ladder.
In 2007 I badly broke my leg (my toes were touching my knee bad), I was in a cast for almost my entire seventh grade year and for the first four or so months I had to be in a wheelchair with the cast up to my thigh. I started to be able to move around really well after the first month and about two or so months before they put me in a boot i was able to jump around my house on one leg for very long distances and then eventually walk around on my cast.

Oh, okay, I see. That makes sense, I guess. When I bend my knee, I can feel my calf muscle stretching/changing. So, guess it has to do with muscles/ligaments/etc putting stress on the bone as well. Like pulling on it and whatnot. Interesting. I get it now. Although I'd much rather just stick with the short cast ;) Thanks much!
