Bisphosphonates like Boniva have been associated rarely with uveitis. You would experience ocular pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, loss of vision and possibly glaucoma if you had uveitis. I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Too much calcium will leach magnesium out of the body (and vice versa) and out of the bones, making them brittle. This is also a result of using forms of calcium that are not good ones, such as hydroxyapatite. This is also a problem with drugs for bone strength, such as Boniva (which is why in your dentist's office as you sit there you're usually looking at a sign asking you to tell them if you're taking one of these drugs so they don't break something). Complicated, eh?
The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?
Multiple bones have getting bent in my body not due to an injury including a deviated nasal septum. Is there some sort of week bones disease that I can have?
And I can no longer pet my cats which feels like my hands have been in fiberglass. My bones are so sensitive that it hurts to even sit on a soft chair. It has been a terrible experience which I regret.
Is boniva a possible cause of papilloma virus on the eyelid going into the conjunctiva?

I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain.

I noted that for the last several months whenever I took Boniva I had significant swelling under both eyes. Thus, when this past Sunday, 5/23 I developed the papilloma on my left lower eyelid (center) which at first seemed to have a point on top & next day became more elongated I thought Boniva. I would appreciate any feedback as to cause & what possible treatment. It, not very large & seems to be same size this first week.

I recently had a mammogram which showed findings of a cyst. I needed additional views, so I returned three days later for a second mammogram of the left breast only, and it showed a nodule. I had an ultrasound the same day which showed an 8 mm benign cyst and several other subcentimeter benign cysts, some with low internal echoes (what are internal echoes?
in 2009 my numbers had worsened by 5%, even with Boniva, then Fosamax. I have many of the symptoms of hyperparathyroid, most notably new dx of A-Fib in the last year.
What should I do? Should I be concerned?
to answer questions, my symptoms are shortness of breath sometime, brittle nails, dry hair, symptoms that are related to hypothyroidism....they said my thyroid was good.

You may not want to go the Fosamax route so there are a few other ideas you may want to try. As a personal trainer for the last 20 years I had bones of steel. When liver disease took a hit at me I didn't work out for almost a year, at least the heavy weights. To my surprise I was diagnosed with
Osteopenia.
The only way you can increase bone density is thru weight bearing excersices.
