Avatar f tn I agree with naturopath or bioidentical hormone specialist. They can help you thru this time without synthetic drugs.
Avatar f tn I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.

Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy about 8 years ago. I took replacement therapy after the surgery for about 5 months, but then i stop taking it. I have gain about 60 pounds in the last 8 years. This is the biggest i have ever been, i can eat just lettuce and not lose weight. Is there something else i can do to control my weight gain?
Avatar n tn Post your FT3 and FT4 levels. If you can't lose the weight, maybe you'd benefit from your levels in the upper 1/3 of the range, not just 'in range' as so many clueless endos are apt to leave you. The reason many of us don't lose weight is because many endos still don't test/treat FT3 levels.

2121656 tn?1395674749 Also, if I could get some feedback on what my friends here think about such. Also, after reading the difference of being treated with pharmaceutial hormone replacement therapy vs. bio-idenitical hormone replacement therapy. I'm seriously thinking of going with the latter of the two. Is anyone receiving bio-idenitical hormone replacement? if so, is it working. Thank you for your feedback.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
6726276 tn?1421126668 Pros & Cons of bio identical hormones. I've been reading every thing I find on the subject. My grandmother & aunt had breast cancer, so I was advised not to go on regular hormone therapy. My problem is severe depression & bipolar disorder. Has anyone gained relief from depression & low energy by going to a compounding pharmacy for bio identical hormones? Thank you for your support.

Avatar n tn Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?
Avatar m tn My gyno told me that he didn't think I needed HRT at the time of hysterectomy. Tried patches in hospital & they burned my skin. He said he didn't think I actually needed the HRT anyway. I've considered seeing a specialist in Bioidentical Hormones. I was never able to even take birth control pills because they made me feel terribly moody & mean. Perhaps I shud just revisit my gyno & go from there. Thx!
Avatar m tn In fact, the hormones in bioidentical medications may not be any different from those in traditional hormone therapy. Several hormone therapy products approved by the FDA and prescribed by health care providers contain bioidentical hormones. "Natural" means the hormones in the product come from plant or animal sources; they're not synthesized in a lab. However, many of these products still need to be commercially processed to become bioidentical.
Avatar n tn I would never be on Estrogen (estrodial) only and I would never use anything but a tailor made dose of the hormone for my body in a bioidentical form, without balancing it with Bioidentical progesterone. Progesterone has multiple effects outside of the reproductive system. I found some information that might be helpful in understanding this hormonal jungle (that's what another website calls it and it's a great name!) Progesterone is thermogenic, raising the core temperature.
